Hello, my name is James and I'm a hobby scrapper! I love finding copper and brass and I have been scrapping for about two years. I get so much enjoyment from finding things people are throwing away and taking them apart to recover the copper, brass, aluminum etc... In my videos I hope to share with you my scrapping adventures, my methods I use to scrap and recover copper, brass and all of the other valuable metals to sell and make some extra money whilst recycling and keeping stuff from ending up in a landfill. I love God with all of my heart. I hope you will consider subscribing to my channel and come along on this journey with me. God bless you all! If you want to mail me anything, just send me an email and I’ll email you back my mailing address.
THIS TAKES FAR TOO LONG, i could have had at least 8 motors the same size stripped the time you finish one. I TAKE A MACHETE and a HAMMER, put the motor in a vice. put the machete in one of the grooves of the steel stator. tap the machete with a hammer and it will split it and with a few more smacks with the hammer it'll cut right thru the copper quickly at that. just keep your sharpener handy and use a machete you wouldnt mind tearing up.
seeing if you have a good stout vise, and cant seem to get the rubber washers and other stuff inside ,,you can just crush the nut in a vise, and whats inside will come out ..
That worked really well my buddy Creative Redundancy said I should try something like that! He uses solar induction heating for cooking he has some cool inventions made from junk! Thanks for sharing this awesome trick! God Bless
Well I had a few stators needing stripping so I bought myself a machete. It beat the hell out of my hand that was holding the machete handle and left some serious damage to the blade. The problem was the staters had 4 steel alignment pins to hold the plates together. I cul through the pins and it went easy but you may want to warn your viewere to not use the machete on these pins.
That’s awful, sorry that was your experience. I actually have a few times mentioned that very thing in some of my videos cause I learned the hard way myself.
@@scrapitall200 well I cleaned up the blade and its ready for action. I have 5 more stators and a crate full of rotors. I am always looking for a better way to drive the shaft from these rotors.
@@mattyal9347 I’m glad you got it cleaned up. I don’t remember if you saw my video where I show 3 ways to scrap armatures (rotors) I know a hydraulic press is the best to remove the shaft, but idk if you have one.
@@scrapitall200 i did see them! Before that I was throwing the whole rotor in a crucible and melting the copper off. This method is costly and time consuming.
@@mattyal9347 ok cool. Sorry I forgot. I try to remember as much as I can. I’m really not a big fan of rotors, seems to be a lot of work for their return, but it’s hard to pass up on copper lol.
Problem is it’s a straight slot screw and I’m sure you know how easy they are to strip and I also don’t have a good assortment of screw drivers. But cutting it off is no big deal to me honestly. Thank you for watching.
Nice! I’ve wanted to try the chop saw method but I’m not going to buy one just for scrapping, but maybe one day I’ll find one that is free. lol. Thank you for watching
Thanks for the video. My yard accepts what they call dirty brass but pay more for clean brass. So it's $4 aud for dirty brass and $6 aud for clean brass. Of course I wouldn't like to miss out on my $2 just because I didn't clean them. Thanks for the step by step video on how to clean brass
Thank you brother for sharing this informative video and the next time you have a rusty screw hit it a couple times with a hammer it shocks it and makes it easier to remove. I have enjoyed this video as always six stars brother
Need to file the bottom of them brass valves a lot of them are red brass and the stems and nuts screws are yellow brass red brass is 70 percent copper its anywhere between 25 to 50 lb more for red brass over Yellow brass
I should have been advised, in advance, of this video. Just saying, James. Brass and I go back many years...thanks for a great video with great wildlife sounds in the background. 👍
I scrap as a hobby and it’s a lot of fun. This motor took me 10 minutes. At the time I made this video it was worth about $22 in scrap. At today’s price it’s worth around $30. Thank you for watching.
@@scrapitall200 Happy to watch the video learned a good way to get after that copper where I am right now it’s not worth the time but I will keep that in mind for another time it is Thanks
Hello SiA! Thank you for that cool video. I put brass above copper too, but i dont hav as many chances to get is as copper, so its a thing of rarity for me. Anyway, have a good week, see you in the next vid, mate!
Great content and message! A small tip/suggestion... weigh your loaf pan and sharpie the weight on the side (sreetips style) and either tare out the pan before filling it up or subtract out the sharpie weight after. "Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path"
Thank you! I normally just tare out the container but I like to switch things up and wanted to see if I could fit it all on the scale. Praise Jesus!! Thank you for watching.
Good afternoon my brother, enjoyed the video. You really got it cleaned up and free of the trash. I went to the scrap yard today and well some stuff paid good and others not so well. Take care my brother and May God bless you and all that you do.
I took one of those apart before. You might have missed the chunk of steel in the bottom that acts as a weight to help keep it from tipping over. You may have also missed two small stainless rods.
I took in 1kg of brass marked as brass and the employees threw it in with steel without weighing separately. When I informed him he said ok I'll punch in 2kg for you is that ok?
