My dad learned to fly in a Cub then when WWII broke out, an AT6. Then on to P51's. Flew B's, C's, and mostly P51D 4143849 "Little Buster." Flew bomber escort out of RAF Bodney. AM, DFC, and Presidential Unit Citation. Did aerobatics in a Citabria once. Learned to fly in a 150/152. Nice vid! Bet it was nice to have unrestricted airspace over the airfield!!
Not an original AC-47 as none remain. This was a Navy R4D originally, and has been restored and outfitted as an AC-47, which work we will continue to make her as close to the original Spookys as possible.
Totally off topic, but Ester, you have an uncanny resemblance to Jade from the RU-vid channel Up and Atom, or at least you photo makes it look that way.
Decades ago I worked on the sentimental journey after its accident in burbank cal we parked in one of our hangers while it was repaired I helped as time allowed great experience ! Keep um flying !
Ester's enthusiasm is contagious ... What she is doing will assure our favorite flyers can continue for years to come. Plus, there is a tremendous educational benefit considering our country will never be able to innovate, design, engineer and produce like it did in that small frame of time. Preservation of that record is incredibly important for the lesson it possesses.
