YEAHHHHH what can i say, i started this album thinking "cool gonna relisten to a super beautiful album" and ended thinking "these songs have dealt fatal blows to me and i am going to die"
This song holds a certain special place in my heart, and I'm trying not to overuse the word beautiful but this is one of the most beautiful songs one the album AND ITS TRUE!
I'm currently relistening to this album, which is wonderful and beautiful and the word underrated gets used a lot but damn it this album is too good. I'm leaving my thoughts on each song as I go! This one is an amazing opener. A song to get you through stuff, and it delivers. This album is the something beautiful around the bend after this song.
Love the theater/musical theme combined with the feeling when you are trying so hard to look positively forward while the heart hurts and it all feels too much... A wistful smile, a sad chuckle and a cry.. Thank you for the song ❤
as someone who spends quite a bit of my time studying musical theater, so many of these songs are SO evocative of modern-ish musical theater, I'd almost compare it to some of the jazz adjacent vibes of something like Caberet combined with the faster more belty songs from something like into the woods (for example). I've seen these described as theater pop, which i think is such a good description. I also so love the way you switch between different vocal registers like it's fucking nothing, which is a skill that it took me so long to perfect and i still get that kind of thing wrong quite often. anyway, i wish you all the best and am so excited to see what you make next.
I've changed my mind, this has to be my favorite song on the album. Everything about this is perfect. The mixing, the reverb and overall atmosphere, your voice, the melody, the chord choices.....it's all just so beautifully haunting and melancholic. Incredible job!
holy. i came here from a will wood community post, like many others, and was not expecting this. like, most of the time when an artist you like recommends something, it's not always that good. but this? this goes crazy. i haven't listened to surgery yet but its definitely on my top 3 things to do this week. good music. cool stuff.
Just found your music (recommended by a friend). This song was stuck in my head for like four hours yesterday, and I didn’t even mind. Genuinely so excited for your next album. Keep up the great work!
