Thanks for the video, thanks to Mr Beilis for the wonderful gift his app is. I’ve made a rotating phone holder for trying this app on a beginner’s Eq mount telescope, as the telescope slews and ‘rolls’ the phone can be kept on a horizontal plane. If the phone _sees_ an alt-az movement should it give usable results? Does Astro Hopper need my location, the GPS read out doesn’t work? It reads GPS unknown, unknown. I have android Firefox.
Regarding firefox you probably need to give it permissions to access location (to the browser app itself). Regarding EQ - I know some successfully used such an idea - give it a try.
OMG!! This app is amazing! I'm brand new to the hobby. I just purchased an Apertura AD12 and tried it out for the first time a few days ago. I couldn't find my butt with both hands. Then I was reading a thread on Cloudy Nights and someone mentioned this program. I have an old IPhone 11 sitting in a drawer collecting dust, so I wiped it, loaded up the link to this program, and velcro'd the phone to my scope. It turns out the compass in the phone is wildly off! But I was able to manually align the phone with Jupiter and Aries and Sadr. Once I did that, the program took me right to everything I wanted to see! Sooooo simple to use. I highly recommend it. Especially to newbie's trying to find their way around the cosmos. To the gentleman who created this jewel of a program, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
I used Astrohopper for the first time last night. It took little time to figure out, although the tutorials are helpful. As I get more accustomed to this app, I can see it becoming very useful. Last night, I used it to find M6, M22, Andromeda and Saturn with my 12" Dobsonian. Great stuff!

I just use generic 5mw pointer, it works well enough for me but I'm in a region that doesn't get very cold so it works fine, from what I understand these do not work well in cold weather unless they're specialized
It's a great 5* app! At this moment I'm making a simple device to mount it to any of my telescopes! And thus taking it along on my upcoming holiday! 😊👍🏻
Good product! I have the following question: when I "re-allign" I don't see the cross-hair sign - is that true ? Or should you start the app again for a new allign point.

Yes, there are. Quality of sensors vary from model to model. There is no specifics but be aware that some old or low end may now have sensors that aren't accurate enough.
