If you betting the favorite in an exacta, bet it only on top. Reversing it shows a much greater loss. Breeding helps for lower grade,eg last race lost by 15 lengths then wins its next race at long odds,catches many out.Trainer and jockey makes a difference.Some horses like a wide draw based on history,esp longer races,even 1200 metres happens to win.Track helps but horse might find too many races prior as a favorite,2nd favorite to not show up,this is where good judgment comes in.lower weights for geldings helps as many fillys and mares win races.looking down the page to same time last years form helps,this is gauging patterns in form.horse track preferences and track surface preferences to be looked at.Watching for value in outsiders to potentially pay a dividend must be looked at too,and their record for the distance of the race,also patterns in prior form coming out of a break,lead up trial or second up race form.Also if the Jockey has raced with same horse,so knows more about the horse.at times horses with high lead up form numbers,eg last 4 races wins.tricky dicky nature of animals health and accumulating stamina.As a science,there are so many variables to consider..Even just win and place, need some luck bec limiting to just one horse,or maybe bumped or squeezed,may be off that day.
When you say bankroll, is that for a day at the track, a weekend, or the entire meet? Inquiring minds want to know. And what about pick 4 and pick 5 bankrolls?
He means how much cash you have total to invest. IE if you have 1000 dollars you should only be betting 2% or 3% of that amount(bankroll). So 20 or 30 dollars per race at a 1000 dollar bankroll. Most of this advice is sound however there are a lot of tracks that offer lower bet exotics(20 cents), Woodbine Mohawk comes to mind they have one of the highest handles. Which I don't think a lot of these videos take into consideration. Playing the odds is fine and while trainers and jockeys do matter this was a great vid on bankroll management and he is 100% correct in betting only 2% to 3% of your bankroll and adjusting accordingly on gains and losses.
There is definitely something to it. I took my daughter who is one of the most animal intune people I've ever seen to a race with me and she enjoyed going to the paddock before the races. Well she commented on 2 horses out of the 8 races saying that horse is gonna win. She never looked at the drf. One of the horses was a first time starter. Both of her horses won by a considerable margin.
If it wasn't for claimers there would not be racing.but often the conditions are very convoluted more than anything to fill the entry box... tricky endeavor
I am the world's best at getting 3 of 4 in the Super Box. I've done it hundreds of times. All it takes is one horse over performing his PP's, or one horse underperforming his PP's. That happens A LOT. And the horses can never explain what happened.
I disagree with you when it comes to longshots. I bet win, place and show at odds of 10-1 or more. If your horse places or shows you can not only get your money back but if it places tou can often double or triple your money back.
You are using Belmont Park statistics on your broadcast. The Belmont stakes will be run at 1 1/4 distance not a 1 1/2. The post position draw is irrelevant to this years Belmont. Just a heads up.

It depends on what you think the winning percentage of the horse is,if you think the horse has 70% chance of winning,that means it has a 30% chance of losing,you can go as short as even money
You want to win money ?? Just Place at least 4 to 5 win bets on long shots on a single race. And also, place long shots _ I do this. I win, I lose, I win, I lose however, those favorite horses seem to win most the time, and u lose even if u bet on a favorite
These were some of my favorite spot plays. I would look for a horse that was laid off 30 days or more. However, a 30 day breather is commonplace now - especially at major tracks. Plus, there are fewer racing days now, so it is harder for the trainer to find a spot. If I was still playing now I'd expand that to 45 or 60 days. The next thing I'd look for is a drop in class - especially in claiming races. I wanted to trainer to risk something to show me that it wasn't just a tune up. Then, I would actually look for no workouts. That might indicate that the trainer was working the horse on a private track. You won't see that much anymore. So the steady work pattern is the next best thing. But I don't want to see blowout works that leave his race on the behind him. I would also look for another kind of change. It could be a claim where he was jailed and dropped, a shipper, distance, surface or equipment change etc. The only thing I didn't like was a turn back for a router. That signals a tune up. Then. I'd need to get 6-1 or better. But most importantly, it had to show action on the board. If the ML was 10-1 and it dropped to 6-1, that is the kind of sign I'm talking about. Usually, that kind of action would scare people off and the horse would go off higher than the ML.
I would advise new horse players to stick to win only. Place and Show betting has it's place but requires more of an advanced understanding of racing. For example: An odds on favorite should be bet to place rather than win. In the long run., it actually shows a profit, but it is an awful grind. Similarly, there are horses who run second an excessive amount of the time. Some say that they just like to run with other horses. However, I've discovered that their connections do this intentionally, just so they can run the bag out there every week and collect a check. If the horse won, they'd have to advance him through conditions. I would advise newbie to avoid the exacta in favor of the double. The track take on exactas are usually higher, and there are so many ways to waste money on exactas by boxing and wheeling, that they best hold off on that until they're a little more ready.
I feel like UK jumps racing there is a place for each way bets if you are specifically betting cause you think its a top 3 horse in the race on form. A 20/1 place is a 4/1 win at the end of the day.
