Can you confirm every part can swap out with the GMR diesel transmission except the gears? You mentioned "the groove for the snap ring is a lot higher in the diesel" is that part one of the gears? I assume that is because the clutch pack is thicker, but is there a higher snap ring groove included on all ZF5hp19FL?
That’s a 4R75E bc a 75W is a wide ratio transmission and only has one speed sensor on the driver side. The 75E on the other hand has two speed sensors on the driver side as you see on the transmission in the video
My 4l60e was rebuilt a little over a year ago and here recently it all of a sudden had no movement. I dropped the pan and didn't see any metal debri or shavings at all. Your video has me thinking it could be the pump. The fluid level didn't drop after cranking either.
It's to bad you decided to throw parts at it in the video like every other shop that built it. If you did find the root cause you most definitely did not explain it or show why. You had a great video up to that point.
Horrible trabajo, utilizas mucho la grasa, pones en exceso y en lugares donde no deberías poner . Y dónde deberías no colocas grasa. No das torque específico y se te olvidó poner un check 😮
Did it have a check ball in both the drum n piston? It was odd it didn't air check right with the drum in case but did fine outside of the case. I would replace both the case and entire drum. Or I would have had to find the exact problem.
Got you a sub. Great video. Gonna be tearing mine down in the spring. No reverse and I'm debating doing the whole rebuilt. How much does the entire overhaul parts kit cost for the 4L60E?
If the hard parts look new it’s far cheaper to put new bushings ,bearings, seals and what ever is wore out for maybe 500-800 in parts vs changing out every single item it would be like 5k+
Great Video! I have a 2004 Honda Odyssey with a bad one way clutch (sprag style) in its automatic transmission. When coming to a stop it sometimes doesn’t engage but I can get it going with putting the gear in low or 2nd manually. I’ve been driving like this for 1 month. How long do you think this one way clutch failure can last ? Will it get worse and ultimately fail ?
I had a 1998 Honda Accord with the Baxa transmission and I drove it over a year with slipping gears. When the engine was warm it would shift normally, but when cold you had to shift to neutral then back to drive like a quick flick and it would upshift. It was kind of trippy when someone would be in the car and ask what are you doing. I say I’m shifting lol. But it’s an automatic? Yeah but it’s a Honda so…
This is a trade all in itself, I have no intention of ever taking a tranny apart but it was entertaining. The most I've done is a transmission shift solenoid and filters on a Ram 2500
Great video. I don't get output from the transmission in anything but 2nd gear so I'm watching videos like this to figure out what could be wrong, shows the parts and their relationships better than the service manual.
thanks for sharing. i just bought an 06 odyssey... didnt even make it home had to call a tow lol. was shifting hard in lower gears and i knew it when i bought it. had absolutely no overdrive down the highway. i pushed it anyway til my exit then called a tow truck for the rest of the way. going to buy a used trans and try to rebuild it based on this video. what tool did you use to press everything back in with the plate? do you have a tool part number for that? im actually kind of excited to try and learn something new. doesnt look to terribly complicated. new sub and super thankful for this video.
I recently did a rebuild of my 4L60E. Everything seemed to go smoothly but now my reverse only engages with higher rpm. I can rev the engine and once it engages it will move normally. Ideas?
