Hello Joshua. I’ll just rebuilt a GM 700-R4 transmission with general transmission rebuild kit. And rebuilt strictly following the “Haynes GM transmission repair online book”. For the proper tranny repair and rebuild. I did changed all the gaskets, seals, clutches and checked the pump also and i didn’t see any visual damage at all, not even blow gasket or seal. Then i did make the first test drive. After not shifting up, i did ordered a new Governor and TCC Solenoid incl. plug. According the “Haynes” troubleshooting. I did make a test drive after i installed just the new governor. And everything was just fine, for maybe 10 miles.... Thats happened yesterday, i was driving down the road 50 mph and all the sudden it was as i shifted to neutral with foot on the gas and rpm jumped way high. I tried to go through all the gears but no response from any not even reverse. No oil leaks, no noice, just nothing. Then i drained the oil and replaced th TCC solenoid and plug also, But still no movement at all.... That can be just the pump, like in your video or something to?? And if it’s the pump, i should order a new one or take first the tranny down and apart and see what else could be gone or damaged?? What its the matter? I’m so frustrated!! Because, i did replaced all the clutches, bearings, gaskets, check ball, seals, filters and make 10 sure everything in in the rigth order and tightend to the specs. Thanks in advance Joseph Gwerder
Mine went out on a drive thru. I was in drive with the brake on let off the brake to move forward and nothing happened. Every gear was neutral except park. It made no noise no nothing. It was a 2004 Silverado with 81k miles on the clock. Bought it brand new and never abused it not one time. Found a guy that rebuilt them he sold me a complete rebuild for 700. He said it had better everything in it and I believe him because it shifted faster and better than it did when new.
I paid 2500 plus dollars to have a guy rebuild with stage 2 upgrade and blew it out. Before 10,000 miles. I beat the piss out of my truck, but I guess I expected it to survive. My truck isn't even 300 hp.
@@pitbullfarmer34 everybody sucks at there job. Everybody everywhere except a very very few people. It's still astonishing to me how people can do shit every single day over and over for years and still suck. Yeah that's horrible when you have to rely on other people for things. I know a lot of things but transmissions is definitely not one of them but I honestly think I'm going to try on my own 09 Yukon After getting fucked over on the engine. I'm done I'm going to rebuild them both myself
for 700.00 what you likely got was a basic banner rebuild kit, and everything else used parts... shifting faster doesnt mean its in great condition,, its very easy to make them shift faster. a quality rebuild kit with new shift solenoids, new boost valve, aluminum accumulator pistons, new clutches and steels. o rings, gaskets, new pressure switch, ect will cost around 450.00. you need either a case of brake clean or a machine to clean them right,, so if he did it right, he only made 200.00 ? its too much work and time for that little profit. what he did was fix a worn out transmssion with used parts . we just rebuilt one, and with a new converter, it cost us 1200 just in parts ... the pumps always need rebuilt or replace, valve bodies are worn out, bushings usually worn. I wish you luck, but if u think you got a like new transmission, its not the case. what kind of warranty did you get?
@@randy1ization thank you sir I'm going to do exactly what you recommend. All my life. I've only met one mechanic that I completely trusted, and it was amazing at his craft. He was the mechanic that other mechanics went to when they had issues. He worked at Marolla Chevrolet for 30 years so he got all the schooling and all of the new electronics over the years and he also built race cars. This was my friends, father and he was also just a good person. Hard to find. I'm from Michigan but at the time I was in South Carolina, and Georgia doing some work when my Yukon broke down. I literally told my Yukon to four different mechanics all garbage.
My 4l60e was rebuilt a little over a year ago and here recently it all of a sudden had no movement. I dropped the pan and didn't see any metal debri or shavings at all. Your video has me thinking it could be the pump. The fluid level didn't drop after cranking either.
That's what happened to mine after I fixed the 3 4 clutches and piston it was running good for 3 weeks until pump decided to go out and leave me stranded lol
Looking at what I'm in for lol. My trans quit working in all gears after giving it the ol pedal to the metal treatment. Has a stage 2 kit, less then 10,000 miles on it. I told the guy that I drive my truck like I stole it. Hopefully he builds it for cheap the second time around. Great video man.
the pan gasket is rubber, its silicone, and its an upgrade over the cork gaskets. you don't need to fuck with RTV at all. You need to be careful about torquing the bolts down tho, because if you tighten them beyond spec, you will crush the gasket and it won't seal in that spot. They are also reusable, because they don't breakdown. edit: on a side note, I know this is an old vid, but those clutches are discolored to hell and back. They have a dye in them that changes color if they are overheated, so they will turn brown or black. If they are brown or black(as we see here), they have been overheated and will likely fail upon reuse as the bonding to the steels is weakened.
I love the NO BS, get to work and finish it up... Not a 5 minute face time intro!! Could use a tad more care in dropping the gears for my liking, but love that bench.. nice setup.. Almost thought I was watching my uncle tear apart old 350 tranny
I got a 01 suburban 4l60e trans from a junkyard h guy said people drove the truck in only junked it due to blown head gasket and didnt want to fix it. I think he pulled trans without pulling with the torque converter and I think that is what broke the rotor and slide ring it looked just like one in your video I bought ne rotor and slide ring think mine should be ok there is marks where rotor sits but didnt feel gouged at all just lite marks should it be ok. When I found out it was pump that was s broke truck (06 YukonXl) on jack stands all wheels off the ground put in gear to test if wheels turned they barely did for like a second then stopped
I’m really stuck on my truck I don’t know what else I have to replace man this is literally my 3rd trans in a year then I found my ring and pinion are bad I just changed it bolt everything up new driveshaft ring and pinion rear slip yoke clamps bolt it up start it no movement in any gears. I shift back to park and it grinds somewhere but idk where yet.
liked and subscribed.. just tore down a 93 4l60e,, only clutches burned were low/reverse.. wondering why just those clutches burned,, pump was not in great shape.. is the hydraulic circuit in the valve body for the low/reverse clutches a common problem, or something else like leaking low/reverse piston seals? thanks
Why not use a rubber pan gasket I guess I have noticed kits and builders use cork and I guess rubber mostly comes in filter kits but what's wrong with them
I have an 07 trailblazer 4x4 with 170k. My transmission pump failed and was replaced 3 different times. The shop said something on the motor may be moving and causing it to fail. Do you have any ideas on this? Last time it was fixed I only went 400 miles and it broke again
Mine broke a couple of times and my city was complaining about a vehicle with expired registration so I pulled it just to put a new rotor in it knowing it would break again but it did not look awesome but I knocked down anything high and it was pretty much fine I assume my thrust bearing is out on my motor that keeps breaking it
I really am lost man I need some advice as to where I should go from here. Had full trans rebuild and 3 months later no drive at all. Any shop or persons numbers or anything would be awesome and highly appreciated
My truck awd won’t move anymore and when in any gear it makes a spiny noise and when I put it in park it’s as if you put your hand on a fan to stop it I can find a single video that helps at all
You ever figure it out? I’m having the same problem. Gear selector moves freely but have no movement. If I’m lucky I can jolt the truck and it’ll somehow pop into place.
I have the same tranny except I still have reverse no forward movement and hardly any sound the trans sounds good but not sure...?????? Any suggestions on what it could be.
@@Andrew-wq1uefigure any thing out? I'm same issue just slammed outta gear and now no forwards it's either I'm thinking bad ground/short or this cheak ball valve ...the shop is full so I'm waiting to hear
I can see everyone in these transmission videos find the most minor wear and they say it needs to be replaced, this guy gouges the shit out of everything with a screwdriver and pry bar! Lol yeah I'm good I'll do my myself
