My channel is a mixture of hiking & adventures. Also I like to do funny short videos. I sometimes like to do cinematic films & on the odd occasion I do filmmaking gear reviews.
This looked like you had so much fun! What a great performer. Sounds just like him. And the kissing 🤣 Just like Elvis. How surreal in this environment. Brilliant 😅
Fab beach Martin - and usually very windswept. I loved this beach wander - I wasn't aware of the pill boxes there although I have seen them in other locations. Take care, Paul
I had no idea these pill boxes were there, thanks for showing us. I will say I love the nature reserve along the beach, it's like going on a little adventure every time you visit 😊
Great Vlog as Always Mate, i Know exactly where the pill boxes are, i actually found them by mistake, you Captured the expanse of the beach amazingly. its such a vast expanse of beach! amazing place. best wishes Darren👌👍👍👍 Just shows how bad i am at Golf🤣🤣🤣
@@Somersetmanwalking Thanks Darren. It was somebody else's RU-vid video that showed the location of the pillboxes. Until then I had no idea they were there as they can't br seen from the beach. Nice that they haven't been defaced with graffiti. 🙂🙂
@MartinPopeFilmmaker completely agree Martin 👍 every single bit of wall on bridges or infrastructure there seems to be graffiti, I guess that's just how it is nowadays 😉
The low entrance to the 2nd pillbox was for limbo dancers because even back then the people weren't that short. Well solid brickwork and concrete to last for many years. I bet they've seen some activities since the war ended and surprisingly, you found nobody inside of them. Thanks for taking us along Martin.
@@mmwaashumslowww7167 Thanks. Yeah the entrance was very low but it was nice to see that none of the pillboxes had been defaced. I would of never known these were there if it hadn't been for another RU-vidrs drone video showing the location. 🙂🙂
@@Somersetmanwalking Thanks Darren. I found ouy about the station being done up from Paul from Westcountry Wanderings who has covered this in his video. 🙂🙂
@@Somersetmanwalking Thanks mate. I was gutted after though as I found out there was loads of stuff going on at Unity Farm and we completely missed it. 🙂
@@NicolaExplores I still make mistakes regarding the sound but one thing I do now in very windy weather is to wear my DJI wireless mic on the inside of my t- shirt rather than on the outside as it gives even more protection against the wind. 🙂
@@MartinPopeFilmmaker oh that’s a good idea. I bought a wireless mic but it was a different brand and I found it always rubbed against my clothing and the sound was awful, so it always put me off. Maybe I need to buy a fluffy shield. The one that plugs directly into my phone is fairly good - but you can’t use wide angle or anything else. I think I should have researched it more in the first place 😅
@@NicolaExplores We've stayed on Dartmoor quite a lot over the years & ive always wanted to film in there. Sally who runs the pub is very friendly & very kindly let me film. 🙂
@@NicolaExplores We've been to the Minehead area many times but this was our first time on the train. It was really nice & we will try to go to the 1940's event next year. I will have to have a look at what events are going on at the Bitton railway as well as we live right by it. 🙂🙂
@@MartinPopeFilmmaker oh brilliant…we enjoy visiting the railway as well. We went to a 1940s one last year, but unfortunately there was a lot of rain and everyone left except for one man with his car and one singer. They didn’t do it this year, but I hope they run it again next one. Let me know if you go as we’re nearby so could be fun to film together or get a cuppa at the station ☕️
@@NicolaExplores Thanks Nicola. I wanted to do something a bit different rather than just film a vlog doing the walk. I enjoyed editing it & giving a bit of a gothic look. E🙂
@@NicolaExplores It was Nicola. I've always wanted to go to one of these conventions even though I'm not really into Star Wars or Dr. Who or similar stuff. It was just by chance that we were in Weston-super-Mare that day just to have a walk on the beach when I noticed Daleks & an ape from Planet Of The Apes on the seafront near the Winter Gardens. I immediately realised what was going on & went in. I didn't have my Osmo Pocket 3 camera with me & so filmed it all on my phone. My daughter loved enjoyed going to the convention as she's into Dr Who & Star Wars so she had a whale of a time. My highlight was meeting "Zippy" from Rainbow. The next one is on the 30th November & we are planning to visit. 🙂🙂
@@MartinPopeFilmmaker same…it just looks like fun. I liked seeing Sweep in the video too. Still have my Sweep puppet from when I was a child. I will put that date in my diary.
@@NicolaExplores Sweep is one of my heroes too. We once saw a pantomime in Bath many years ago. It was Cinderella with Kieth Chegwin. In the interval Sooty & Sweep came on & got the biggest cheer of the evening.
@@NicolaExplores I have been following Louise's channel for a while actually. I bumped into her & Paul from @@westcountrywanderings in The City Of Wells last Christmas when I was filming the Christmas market there. Both their channels are very good & it was lovely to have bumped into them both. 😀
Great video. How do you do the google earth thing? Also visited during the 90s so great to see that footage too. The hat made me laugh 😂 Not as bad as the Marilyn Monroe moment in my episode though 😅
@@NicolaExplores I found out how to record Google Earth videos by watching some tutorials on RU-vid. I think we've watched that video with the Maralyn Monroe moment. Lol. I think you had another moment in your Weston-super-Mare video when you were by Birnbeck pier didn't you? 🤣
@@NicolaExplores Thanks Nicols. I was surprised at the amount of negative videos on here about Weston-super-Mare. I've been going there since I was a kid. My dad shot some cine film in the 1970's. I will have to upload it one day. 😊😊
@@MartinPopeFilmmaker oh great… I uploaded my grandpa’s 1960s cine footage. Would be interesting to see your dad’s 70s footage. I think the negative videos are highly damaging as they might deter people from visiting.
@@NicolaExplores Yeah it seems to be the fashion at the moment to put Weston-super-Mare down. I'm just going to watch your grandads video now actually. My dad only shot a few bits & pieces but I will upload on here at some point. 😊
Hi Martin, my husband and I just subscribed. Excellent take on the festival 🤠 Loved both of your accents 🤣 Glad you found my channel and I look forward to watching more of your videos. We have covered some similar areas. We also visited the West Somerset Railway recently during the 1940s weekend. Highly recommend that if you enjoy dressing up.
@@JessesGrandDaysOut My friend in work has a caravan down Brean so that's how we found out. Unfortunately we didn't go into Unity Farm & missed out on loads of stuff. @NicolaExplores video of the event is excellent & worth checking out. 😊😊
@@JessesGrandDaysOut I've never actually been inside the castle. Will have to do it one day. Just about to watch your Portishead sculpture video now. 😊😊
I enjoyed this tour around Totnes Martin, thank you. It's my favorite town in Devon and has a unique atmosphere with its layout, houses and shops. The people are great too and seem different to most from other places around. Brilliant choice of music which ran through til the end and fitted the theme nicely. 👍
The seagulls in Bristol are cheeky 🤣- in the centre I've seen them steal pizza out of someone's mouth! Lovely video, Bude looks beautiful - peaceful in places, busy in others with gorgeous views.
@@JessesGrandDaysOut Hi Jessie. I once had a Mark's & Spencers sandwich knocked out of my hand by a seagull in Broadmead shopping area. I couldn't believe it. Bude is a nice place. Especially when the suns shining. 😊😊
Great video and pleased to have stumbled across your channel, I've subscribed, good to hear a West Country twang (I'm in Somerset) we really need to celebrate what's on our doorstep, we are very lucky 🙂
@@LaysAndLore Thanks a lot. Yes we are very lucky. We are near to Bath. I do like my accent & try not to talk too fast when vlogging but sometimes even I can't understand what I'm saying when I try to edit my videos. Your channels looks interesting so I have subbed & will start watching your vids. 😊😊👍👍
Are you the same poepy that was a bully at school 30 years ago ;) I loved going up the Fort - there was a third route - chase the tide out and climb the rocks as it changed (also remember all the bridges which have gone) and we used to sleep in the tunnels which are blocked off now.
@@stevecook1190 Acually I was bullied badly at school so I certainly didn't bully anyone as I know what it feels like to be bullied. I left school in 1979 so you must be thinking of somebody else. I love Brean Down but have only walked it 3 times. Where are these tunnels to?
Amazing... I went here a few times with my wonderful parents. Happy childhood days I had. I still have the small photo on a key fob of dad and I taken in the restaurant there. X
@@teresahobday7836 It was a fantastic place. We would get all excited when we went as going on the fairground rides all day for "free" was just incredible. Loved the monorail as well. 😊😊
@@Somersetmanwalking I watched one of your videos about Wrington yesterday & saw the limekiln. When I went to film the bluebells back in April I got a bit lost as I had never driven that way before & I thought the woods with the limekiln was the bluebell woods. By the time I got to the limekiln I realised my mistake & drove up the hill to the correct location. 😊😊
@@Somersetmanwalking We have been to Goblin Coombe once a few years ago. I remember filming it but no sound was recorded on my Gopro & so I couldn't use the footage. I will have to revisit & film it again. I remember the planes going over very close. 😊
What a lovely clear day that you had chosen to film this. The clarity of the video was so good that I watched it in a higher resolution to get the best detail. The beach and rocks are like i remember them in my youth but I don't remember the gift shops. These are so well presented with everything you could want and worthy of a good tour around. A fantastic day out for you both and thanks for taking us along.
@@mmwaashumslowww7167 Thanks. I've been wanting to do a vlog style video for a while & thought a day in Bude would be ideal. It was a lovely day,one of the few nice days of the summer. 😊😊
Really nice video Martin, the bus to minehead from Taunton is whilst not the most straight route very pretty so not surprised the views from the steam train are so beautiful. I've been meaning to ride this train for a while now - pushes it up list of things to do 😊
@@JessesGrandDaysOut Hi Jessie. I'd been meaning to do this trip for a long time so it was nice to eventually do it. It's definitely worth the money I think. I'm just about to watch your Weymouth video. 😊😊
Lovely, the beautiful old steam chuff chuffs. Great choice of video Martin bringing the past back to life and showing the well cared for engine and carriages. They looked like the old 1960s British rail stock which many steam railways use. The locomotive chuffed and puffed, so that you didn't have to 😊
@@JessesGrandDaysOut Thanks Jessie. I've been wanting to do this sort of vidro for a while now & thought that the walk from the harbour to the pier was ideal. Poets walk is lovely any time of the year. I love the way the trees grow to make a sort of tunnel. 😊😊
@@XXdestiny Excellent. This was my first comic con & won't be my last. We were in Weston-super-Mare just to have a walk along the seafront when I noticed all these Star Wars & Doctor Who characters & decided on the spur of the moment to go in. We really enjoyed it & I will take my proper camera for the next one in November. 😊😊
All the elements of cinematic capture were displayed and came together with an unusual but almost haunting atmosphere. The camera panning, elevation and what looked like an almost dual speed slow motion walking with real time surroundings. Absolutely amazed at how you made this work and it did beautifully, outstanding work Martin 👏
