Been thinking about buying this watch. Would you say that this one could be a one watch collection? Would it look good in a formal or casual wear with only the bracelet?
Hi Josh…. Great video really enjoyed it, id actually took ya advice before seeing the value deo and bought and sbgp001 quartz which is the same as the sbga373 SD with champagne dial. Love your mid night blue dial though…. So classy!! What happened to the review for the sbgn013 quartz I am looking to buy and wanted to see you opinion?
Nice vid! If I left a sharp bag like that out on my porch…I’d have three mice or a chipmunk inside of it in the morning….or a bear or raccoon would have walked off with it!! Seriously, tho - if you can invert the bag over something supportive overnight, there is less chance of water staining to the bottom of the bag as it dries. And dark colors clean up soooo much better than light tones, IMHO!!💕
I don’t know if the Pelagos is comparable to the Sub. I see it as a foil to the Sea Dweller, with less, unnecessary, depth rating! And, best of all, the cool 116600 reference not the 126600 cyclops, oversized, 43mm! It’s a modern, stealth wealth SD4000!
My vintage coach I purchased is smoked filled on the inside and out. I have washed my bag several times and each time the water is black from the smoke. Do you have any suggestions?
Yikes! My only advice is to keep at it but depending on how bad it is, sometimes there is no bringing that back. You can add a few caps of white vinegar to the water too to try to deodorize it.
What a lovely presentation. I'm also a guy and about to pull the trigger on this white PO. It's 100 percent unisex in my book. Looks equally great on men and women.
Great video. Regarding the titanium weight, it’s not as light as you’d think. I’ve held a titanium citizen which is feather light. This still has some weight to it. I appreciate your video as it was one of the ones I watched and kept watching prior to buying my Pelagos last week.
Congratulations on the Pelagos! And YES. It’s not lightweight at all, it’s shocking how much heft it has. I wouldn’t even want to imagine how heavy it would be in steel!
This collection is so close to mine... very close. Lovely to see and great taste 👌 My watch collection is- - G-Shock MRG-B5000B-1DR (Square) - G-Shock MRG-B2000B-1A1DR (Black) - Cartier Santos ADLC Black - Grand Seiko Snowflake Spring Drive - Grand Seiko Tentagraph - Omega Seamaster 300 Chronograph (9900 caliber) - Omega Speedmaster Moonphase (9904 caliber) - Rolex GMT Master 2 "Rootbeer" - Hanhart 417ES (Steve McQueen) 😊
I then have a second watchbox collection with my 'beater' watches. I love my beater watches as they take a lot of abuse, DIY, high risk tasks and environments. Casio DW-290-1V (Mission Impossible) G-Shock GA-B2100-1AER (DIY) G-Shock MTG-B3000FR (Solar Flare) G-Shock GWG-2000-1A1ER (Gardening Mudmaster) G-Shock GWG-2000-1A3ER (Camping Mudmaster) Samsung Galaxy S4 Smartwatch (Work Projects)
Thanks for the breakdown Josh! This bag would be identifited by the "221" style and then the -4 or the -7 (for color designation) correct? I see there are two different underseat bags listed on B&R webpage the 221 and then the BL221 which one is a "cabin" and one is "underseat." Both of yours look to be the cabin bags and not the underseat? Thanks for your help;
Hello! Briggs and Riley changed the name of this thing multiple times over the years (and you might be right that the cabin might be its old name). Either way, the bag in the video has been discontinued for almost two years at this point so anything on the B&R site right now is the substantially lower quality new model which might also have a different naming/number convention.
Edit: I just looked at the B&R site and it does look like the one I have that’s shown in the video isn’t listed on the site. There are now two “underseat” bags, the new version of this (which I don’t recommend) is the “Underseat Duffle” for $289 USD and comes in black, army green, and a blue.
@@joshswatches appreciate your feedback. I have purchased the older 221 per your recommendation. About a week before it arrived, I took ownership of what I believe is the bag before the 221 which is the B&R TD-321, which have almost the exact same features, but the 321 adds two interior end netting pockets and their front zippered outside pocket is deeper. The 321 also has a snap out waterproof pocket instead of the zippered back pocket on the 221. I can tell what a big fan you are of the 221! If you can find a gently used/not too expensive TD-321 on the secondary offerings (ebay/poshmark) I would recommend getting one and giving it a try. I would be super interested in hearing you compare the two although those two bags are discontinued. Enjoy the holiday weekend.
I own the same watch and absolutely love it. I purchased mine in tokyo, march 2023. To my understanding it is sold out everywhere in brand new condition. Please do an updated video of your thoughts of this beautiful watch. Would love to see that.
I personally feel like the sharp edge collection looks cheap, but that’s a personal preference thing. A potential upside to the sharp edge is that it will be stainless steel versus this which is titanium. Some people feel that titanium feels cheap because of how lightweight it is. Stainless steel has more heft.
Thank you! I’m personally not a huge fan of special edition dials, only because they tend to limit the amount of wear the watch gets. I’m boring and prefer things that are minimalist and classic. I’ve thought a million times about buying a GS Snowflake, for example, but it wouldn’t get much wear.
@@joshswatches meh snowflake ain’t my cup of tea anyway. It’s in the wrong case. Now put it in a 62GS then I’m interested. I agree though if you aren’t comfortable wearing a watch for fear of scratches and wear then best no get it.
I’ve bought a few other things from the Ben Bridge that sold me my Sub (Tudor, Grand Seiko, and such), but a GOOD AD won’t actually require that you have a history to buy. More, it’s at their discretion of whether you are someone that they want to have a piece or not. I imagine part of me getting a sub upon asking was that they know I would wear it daily (based on the condition of my other watches that they service) and that I definitely was not in the market to resell. Another wonderful AD that I’ve since bought from with no history said that they don’t just want collectors to have them, they want ordinary people to have them and will sometimes decline a collector so someone who doesn’t have one yet can get their first.
I stumbled across this watch in the Grand Seiko store in Tokyo while I was looking for a white snowflake, and fell in love. Went ahead and bought it in the Grand Seiko boutique in Osaka after sleeping over it. My first ever watch, and I couldn't be happier. The snowflake is a beauty, but this is just more wearable daily, it doesn't stand out as much.
I completely agree! There are things I don’t care for about the snowflake (pin and collar bracelet), so I think you got a better watch. I’ve just bought another GS from the Beverly Hills store and definitely want to buy from a Japan store at some point in the future!
Great review. The new version is definitely a step down. The Travelpro Platinum Elite underseat duffel is an alternative I highly recommend except that it won’t fit most laptops. :(. The Travelpro Versapack deluxe tote will handle laptops but is a smaller and excellent alternative. Good luck hunting for used bags on eBay!
