The first one is decent the second one has good moments but overall sucks the third one is probably one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen. Rogue one and solo are pretty good.

I agree on every single word you said. Also it's a proof of how the love for SW can coexist with the dislike of these new "attempts". Something the big audience unfortunately consider to be unnatural (and the same thing that was exploited by Disney to make cash on the new films)

I don't know why, but something happened to movies nowadays. There were movies where every character was an asshole to each other, but nowadays it feels like every movie is composed of sarcastic assholes that constantly berate and talk down to each other.

Interesting video. I happen to like Rogue One a lot, although I fundamentally disagree with their choice of doing digitally de-aged Tarkin and Leia. I'd have much rather seen Tarkin recast as Guy Henry, who is also an excellent actor and would've honored Peter Cushing's performance. Hiding his face does a disservice both to him and to Peter's legacy. The scene with Leia was just unnecessary as a whole, but they could've recast her as well. We have so many talented young actors who could fill these roles, that resorting to digital fakes is such a creatively bankrupt thing to do. Sebastian Stan, for instance, would make an amazing Luke Skywalker, yet he's not given the chance to do so. It's a pretty awful thing that studios are doing, and I hope it stops.

This video was ironically a pretty good case study as to why Palpatine is a very terribly written villain. Possibly the worse, most unbelievable villain of all time, in every story, ever written. It's truly amazing that a video managed to get every single thing exactly 100% wrong. Bravo.

Like Sin City, 300 is a fairly faithful graphic novel adaption. I don't think the irregular narrator was ever really Snyder's idea, it's just pulled out of a comic.

I would also like to say that since the clone wars s7 ended it feels like we’ve been bombarded with prequel (or more specifically clone wars) references such as in the mandalorian and they made the bad batch (which is good don’t get me wrong) it just feels like they haven’t learned all they know is references they cannot create anything new because “it’s too risky” the prequels took a risk and people seemed to hate it at the time. The sequels took no risk and they are an inferior product that retroactively makes the og trilogy pointless. If the stories conclusion is pointless then all that’s left that has meaning is the prequels. Tolkien once started to write a sequel to the lord of the rings but stopped. Part of the reason that he stopped was because the end of lotr was the end of Sauron’s and Morgoth’s evils to continue their evils gives Frodo’s and the company’s sacrifices less value. The sequel trilogy did the exact same thing as the lotr sequel would have.

The biggest problem with the sequels is how they literally reverse everything from the original trilogy Plus the terrible writing anc characters but I could get over that and eithier just not watch it ever again or just pay attention to the cinematography But with the palpatine Luke and Han crap they completely ruin everything

I think it's the fact that plot armour is now stronger than storm trooper armour (which was upgraded to withstand the heat of a lightsaber for three seconds, because that's how videogame) (But then they made it 100% Saber proof)

Excellent points made here. The Force Awakens could've been the beginning of a terrific trilogy if Abrams had any idea where he wanted to go with the story, rather than just put a bunch of cool visuals on the screen and hope that would appease SW. fans. Unfortunately, that didn't work and Disney doubled down on stupid in the subsequent spin-offs.

Actually, I think you're underselling it here. I think the Disney Trilogy DOES have a cohesive theme that you allude to but never quite fully establish: a major theme of the Disney Trilogy is that everyone you know and love from the Original Trilogy is a failure. First, from Awakens, we have Han Solo. Last time we saw him, he'd gone from being kind of a selfish prick to being the kind of guy who would volunteer for a dangerous mission and NOT volunteer his friends for it, simply so that they were not put at risk. He is also the type of guy who will love a woman, but will let her go and follow her heart if her heart takes her somewhere else, even if that someone is a good friend of his--rather unselfishly, I might add. That is the trajectory of his character arc in those movies. BUT, when we run into him again in Awakens, his marriage has fallen apart (possibly because they had their honeymoon on that Galactic Starcruiser, amirite?), he has abandoned his friends and allies, and he has gone back to the kind of sleazy conman we met at the beginning of the first movie. Han is a failure as a husband, a failure as a father, a failure as a reformed mercenary, and a failure as a leader of the Rebellion/New Republic. We could also say similar things about Chewbacca, who is here a failure as Han's moral center and as (if some fan theories are to be believed) a deep-cover rebel agent. Next, we meet Leia. Last time we saw her, she was looking at the destruction of the second Death Star, the culmination and final victory of a war that she had been fighting for her entire adult life. BUT, when we see her again in Awakens, she is still fighting (ostensibly) the same enemy, and (if some deleted scenes are to be believed), she is ostracized from the New Republic government that she supposedly helped to create, because they think she's crazy. That same government crumbles in a single moment halfway through that story. Leia is a failure as a military leader and a failure as a politician. Fast forward to (Not) The Last Jedi. Now we run into Luke. The last time we saw him, he had refused to believe that anyone was beyond redemption, not even his estranged father who had fallen to the Dark Side. He redeems the villain of the story and becomes the embodiment of a true Jedi, not a warrior, but a peacekeeper (irony of ironies, considering Mace Windu failed in that role decades before). BUT, when we see him again in Last, he is no longer the heroic figure we knew before, no longer embodying the character traits that Uncivilized has laid out here; he's now someone whose first instinct is Kill and his second instinct is Quit. Ben Solo is essentially in the SAME POSITION that Vader was (which Leia points out), but rather than do what he did with Vader, he decided to surrender to that same condition. Luke is a failure as a Jedi and as a hero. By proxy, Luke's failure extends to Yoda and to Obi-Wan as well. Their appearance as ghosts at the end of the film is an expression of their victory and success at training Luke to be a Jedi. BUT, as Yoda has to return and, as Johnson said, kick Luke in the pants, it's an admission that they never actually succeeded in training the New Hope that they had secreted away at the end of Revenge of the Sith. Yoda and Obi-Wan are failures as teachers of the next generation. Finally, we come to Rise of Overcorrection--sorry, Skywalker. At the very beginning of Rise, we learn that "somehow, Palpatine has returned." Whether this was Disney trying to overcorrect by grabbing something from the original Extended Universe (which, good call on that, since Lucas had serious issues with that plot point from Dark Empire FOR REASONS THAT WE'LL GET TO) or it was just grasping at something familiar because the supposed big-bad from the first movie was killed in the second movie (you know, to subvert our expectations or whatever) so we need SOMEONE to be the main villain, this has serious implications for, ya know, The Chosen One (Hey there, George!). Vader killing the Emperor was his final fulfillment of the original prophecy from The Phantom Menace; it's where he becomes the Chosen One he was supposed to be by destroying the Sith (I know, I know, he brought balance to the Force too, by killing everyone but two Jedi on one side and being one of two Sith on the other; two versus two is technically balance, yes). BUT, if the Emperor is still alive, then Anakin did not kill him, and thus the prophecy was not fulfilled, and thus his sacrifice means nothing. So, Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader is a failure as the Chosen One. And there you have it. Everyone you know and love from the Original Trilogy is a failure, according to the Disney Trilogy. Essay over. Please go back to your lives.

Although I didn't like episode 8 for many reason, I'd honestly would like to see Hodjson making his own full trilogy, it had a potential to become the new canon KOTOR II wchich also tended to subvert the core Star Wars ideas.
