Have fun saving for the house. Shame to loose the m3 but who knows what the future will bring! Maybe a nice mortgage, marriage, kids, and a station wagon or SUV. OMG KEEP THE M3...... .
A difficult but wise choice. It’s hard to believe you’re only 23; if more young chaps had your mindset, perhaps the entire country would look a little different… Or not. Who the hell knows! The cool thing is you wanted one, and you had one! Yes you’ll miss it, but you won’t die pissed off you missed out altogether. And yes, flipping $10k cars means you can taste everything. All the heroes of the 90s and early 00s that were out of reach, and now cheap and available. Such a cool way to experience different platforms and manufacturers… Keep it up, bro - we’ll enjoy living vicariously through your vids 😂
Smart move!, I had the most fun in my cheaper cars! I have owned a total of 23 cars over the years, but when the time came to get some cash together I ran a Nissan pulsar worth $5K for 8 years, put my money into property and did pretty well! I can only wholly endorse your decision!
Aww man, it's a sad time for both of us, the IS-F is off to her new owner tomorrow, he seems like someone that's genuinely going to treat her as well as I did.
car flipping can be very fun. My friend and I go halves on cars down here in CHCH And we flip cars alot. Most recent was a 2014 Q5 we bought for $7000 and sold for $14000. I wish you all the best for the near future
Thanks for being honest with your reasons, you're definitely doing the best thing in prioritizing the house purchase. I unfortunately had to sell my FK8 to have enough for the house deposit. Last year I purchased the house and am very happy with how it's appreciated in value. I'm now looking for an investment property and I've also purchased another FK8 🤣 Fun can always come later - establishing yourself comes first. Good luck with it all 🙂
_Sad to see the M3 go. However as youve said, finances and buying a house takes priority. So in the end its a wise choice. Being happy with a 5 or 10 grand car is a good mindset to have and a lot of people around your and my age arent that. They all want the flash and luxurious car because they think they deserve it. But you summed it up so nicely about being content and happy with a 5 or 10 grand car to do things you want to do. That's a realistic mindset which a lot of people do not have. Im 22 and I have a 10 grand car which I'm perfectly happy with. It goes well and its not that expensive to run. And thats all you need. Good video overall. Im looking forward to seeing the new content!_
Hmm, brakes shouldn't be that bad, might need a little work. Steering should also have decent feedback... clearly not a restored example you're reviewing. The suspension is supposed to be that way... body roll was an indicator as to how hard you were trying but the grip was always pretty good and progressive when it let go (hence their 'hoonability') Compare that to the contemporary Holdens & Fords of the day and the E30 had positively rigid suspension. These days my E30 M3 has softer suspension than my F21 125d. Just imagine how a motoring writer from 1989 would perceive today's godawful runflats and springs made from granite.
Yes it’s old. However we’re still talking 4 wheel discs and ABS. Same tech we’re using today. It’s not like it’s cable operated drums. The brakes should really be much better. I still have one today and the brakes and brake feel is very much still relevant. Since the E30 most steering has got worse in terms of feel and feedback… though E30 does have too many turns lock-to-lock.
Makes me happy I have my inline 5 vw rabbit its almost like the mk4s we never got over here while being its own unique thing that works and sounds really good
I wonder if a ZF8 conversion has been done, or if there's a kit available? Because if you're going do drive it in traffic a fair bit, as well as sportingly, then a ZF would make is much better box than a SMG or DCT. They have sequential style, clutchless manual, step-ronic mode (way better than any triptronic. Instant and down a gear is forward, and up u pull back, sequential style), or a silky smooth full auto mode, sport auto, or awesome paddle shifts that change as fast as any DCT, and even faster (especially the downshifts) if you get xHP on your phone to stage 2 or 3 flash the box's software. Full on supercar gear change performance. The extra gears would make an M3 like this a real weapon, cos mated to the newer N55 engine onwards, they are even faster than a manual equivalents and ZF8 boxes are super reliable in stock trim up to 600hp, and have the most insane service intervals. I couldn't stand autos until I drove a ZF8 box . I thought DSG wasn't half bad, in golfs. Then drove a stage 2 xHP flashed in a M135i, and was truly blown away. Changing gear instantly with no rev drop, just pulling and pulling. So mated to those non-turbo rev monsters that have an epic top-end, a ZF8 box in your car would be something amazing to drive. 8 gears! There's a reason every supercar from a Lambo to a Dodge Hellcat, uses a ZF8. Stick one of them in if you can. Awesome car bro.
@@Tight--LiNeZ yeah bro I’ve driven heaps of ZF8 cars and they’re very good. IMO it would be sacrilege to put one in an E46, this car deserves a manual and nothing else. In the following episode you’ll see I converted it to manual.
@@KiwiCarLife Oh okay. That'd be my first choice. Don't let the clear coat on those rims get that white spiderline corrosion under it, & those M3 rims are renowned for it. It looks like you have some nice ones there. Don't spray any petroleum based products on them, cos it weakens the clearcoat on them. A xHP-ed ZF8 box is like twice as good btw. I've had that engine you have in a Z3M. Freakin' awesome.
@KiwiCarLife yes, definitely. For the weekend I would definitely prefer a nice sounding car with a beautiful engine to support the claim. But as a daily, I would prefer to have a quiet, comfortable car ( good suspension, seating, reliability)... I.e. a civic or corolla or something similar as daily, Fun car a WRX/ R Type / audi RS3 aaaand a luxury sedan or a wagon for long trips... Unfortunately I can't even afford a proper daily 😅 in my universe 😂...
I'm about to retire my Yaris sedan for a civic of this generation with hatch or sedan , what I like in my country honda is not that popular so you get them very cheap at the used car market compared to Toyota and Volkswagen
@@KiwiCarLife just because it's down on power doesn't mean it can't perform. Power to weight is the design philosophy of suzuki with the swift sport. Polo gti has 70 more hp but is 400kg heavier. There power to weight ratios are almost identical and 9 out of 10 times I haven't seen the suzuki lose a 400m sprint (real world) also actuall performance and power numbers given by suzuki are not accurate. They are running 0-100 at about 7 flat.......just saying, hp is not the deciding factor on whether at hatch is "warm" or a "real" hot hatch........and no, I'm not even an owner of one, Just know many owners here in SA, big following, and I've seen the real world performance even against hot hatches double the price.
_Honda Power 💪🏼 _*_AND_*_ economy! … really impressive, considering a VT Commodore 5ltr V8 auto had a claimed 0-100kph of around 7.8-7.9 seconds and triple the economy 😁_ … _-yeh I know not the same class but how times have changed-_
Considering 1 of the 2 atm , if i decide the VXRi will de-badge it but leave VXR and get the Opel badge for the grille, the badge is really cheap, i would feel better surrounded by Holden fans in traffic 😂😉
@KiwiCarLife yeah it really should be rebadged as it's really that, my Mustang is a Mustang ( obviously recognisable as a Ford) but the only Ford badge on it is up behind the top of the tint on windscreen behind some small box thing and rear view mirror so it could be rebadged in Russia as a Tatra Mustang 🤷🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍
In today’s economic climate though even as diesel is cheaper than petrol, you still have road users on top, so does it really balance out ? And is always the case with owning any high powered car where and when do you get to use this ridiculous power on a normal road? As a family car sure it’s good on paper but as a weekend play thing it’s the same as the much hated SUV. I see these as high powered fast things nothing more but as far as driver enjoyment even a 130i delivers that which can be used equally as a run about during the week or a toy on weekends
Yes, the idea with road user charges is that it works out costing the same as petrol if you get the same fuel economy. However this diesel will use half the fuel of an equivalently powerful 335i touring. So it will absolutely work out cheaper. Agree I’d probably still rather have petrol, but the savings are definitely there
The Beemer is the better drivers car period. Ticks all the boxes for a real driver seeking fun on backroads or a track. Gtis aren’t bad overall but lack driver enjoyment and have a pathetically average sounding engine. Nothing beats a singing straight six
Awesome comparison between the two generations! I have driven both just recently and I have to completely agree! The new RS is a genuinely fun car to drive for car people despite it's main target market! Also that learner BMW driver too, just wow haha...
Think they are very similar, the note has an almost identical 0-100. The first gen e12 epower notes are probably the best value for money cars you can buy at the moment.
A Honda Fit hybrid with a 7 speed dual-clutch? That's pretty crazy. As an american watching euro car reviews always feels like these brands are cheating on me
Hi mate, nice review. Honda NZ announced Civic 11 coming soon in e:hev trim. I am hesitant about choosing Civic 11 ehev or Accord 10 hybrid (there are a few available in NZ). Any advice from you ? Cheers
Great job with your videos as always! Nissan do something similar to the newer Honda Jazz (where the petrol engine is just a generator). Would be keen to see your take on the Nismo Note S E Power if you ever got hold of one for the channel. Cheers!
Yeah it is the Nismo Note S Epower. Cool looking car & the S version is higher spec than the rest & from what i've seen is that they are quicker than the latest Jazz. Driven the Latest Jazz Rs & it is an awesome fun car, only thing that i don't like about it is the front, reminds me of that character from Futurama.
