I am learning this one! I will be playing it at solos and ensembles if all goes well! (I also learned orange sunset and will be playing that one at a concert, and I will get a recording hopefully)
The first vid carolina crown has to be the hardest like music book to hit DCI in my opinion. Like sure it was technically easy or un-complicated but that triple-tonguing and double tonguing at the end is HARD to get down. Now I haven’t really seen many shows but just what I think rn
Hey, Adam. I just want to thank you. Anytime I’m having a rough day or I’m just not feeling well, your solos always make me happy. Thank you for putting a smile on my face😁
Padauk can definitely sound great. I find the biggest downside is padauk can be temperamental when moving from room to room, environment to environment. It’s doesn’t seem to do nearly as well as rosewood with temperature and humidity changes.
You said if you play violin, a small tablet is fine. Then you said it won't work for percussionists and showed a PAGANINI score. Definitely, it's not suitable for violinists either. All solo repertoire is meant to be played standing up.
IT NOT ONLY GIVES YOU CALLUSES, IT ALSO DEFORMS YOUR FINGERS, THAT'S WHY I QUIT, IT REALLY SUCKS, BUT I'M REGRETTING HAVING QUIT, IT'S BEEN A FEW YEARS, AND SEEING THE LEVEL THAT MY PARTNERS HAVE REACHED STRESSES ME OUT.
Hello Adam! I’m doing a deep dive into the international Marimba Symphony Orchestra that my dad was in. I ran across your video. I wish there was more recordings and videos and the quality is so poor. I can’t even tell if my dad is in the orchestra at that particular moment . As you know, there’s not room for all 100 Marimbas on one stage so Claire Omar Musser selected who he wanted to play at that time. I loved your videos-beautiful music.
I asked my percussion director if I could play this solo freshman year and he said no because it was "way too hard". I got a different solo and felt unmotivated to practice it, mainly because I didn't like it. I left percussion that year because of other problems with the director. Ever since I have become extremely depressed and reclusive as I have lost my outlet. Sometimes I come back to this video and think about what could have been. This is a really beautiful piece and I would like to thank you for sharing it with the world.

Hi everyone! Thank you so much for listening to my brand new solo marimba + percussion quintet 'The Power Of Unity: Zodiac Story' - I've never written any chamber ensemble work that has more than 3 players, so this is new territory for me haha. Thank you once again to Defying Gravity Percussion and Tim White OAM for getting me to write for them and perform as their soloist :) Big thank you again to Joey Eng ( instagram.com/jewy.photo ) for this amazing video and audio quality - I'm also not used to seeing myself being recorded by others professionally! More releases coming soon, including 'TEN' (multi percussion solo), 'Song From The Heart' (massed marimba chorale) and 'Joy' (4.3 octave marimba solo for Marimbafest 2024) - stay tuned! #TheStudioFamily
I just bought your graduated set of mallets, and I absolutely LOVE them. They are AMAZING. ❤️❤️❤️ The attack sounds great and still allows for a lot of the depth of the sound. Tysm
Great video on how to go paperless. I wanted to get a new iPad Air 13” for holding my sheet music but the cost is $800. Although I’d like to have this Air for other things as well, it’s still a pretty expensive option. So I looked on Amazon and found a 14” flat monitor that I can plug into my current 10.9” iPad Air. Cost is only $65. It works great with forScore. Yes I now have two things to carry but I can use my 14” monitor at home and take my iPad to lessons. Both fit comfortably on my music stand.
I played my senior recital on the YM-6100! I've searched for my own board for 3 years and finally found a COE that I liked the sound on that I could afford and I'm really happy with it!
