Wasn't it said in the manual of Super Mario Bros that Bowser is also a sorcerer? And there are other cases like Mario 64 or Galaxy where he is the one doing magic with no magikoopas around. He may still be a creation of magikoopas but it feels less like a figurehead and more like a true artificial ruler, combining the strongest aspects of every koopa subspecies and amplifying it. We know canonically that super mario 3 is a stage play recreating events that actually happened, so its entirely possible Donkey Kong Country actually isnt in the future - its in the present, with some mario events being in the past and games like Mario 3 are retellings of an old adventure. We also have reason to believe Mario isn't Jumpman, but his son instead in the same way that Donkey Kong is actually DK the 3rd, with Junior being his father and Cranky being his grandfather (and the original DK), so it's entirely possible that the "super" era is a different Mario than the OG era of mario when he/his father was running around doing all kinds of odd jobs.
The perfect Pikmin game in my opinion would have the graphics from 4, the story progression and multitasking from 3, the atmosphere, combat and difficulty from 1, the musical vibe from 1 and 2. And the creativity of pikmin 2.
If racing games are seen as canonical, there are some interesting connections that could be drawn from there. This isn't even the interesting part. The interesting part is that the Berlin Wall incorporates Whomps. This hints at the exchange of species and technology between the Koopa and Mushroom Kingdoms and earth. As Mario's home city is stated to be Brooklyn in some media like the Super Mario Super Show and the two Mario Movies, this theory could hold some weight - after all, if two plumbers can travel from earth to the Mushroom Kingdom, things from the Mushroom Kingdom can travel back to earth. Which means that in the Mario Universe, real-world states like the German Democratic Republic have enlisted the help of Bowser's henchmen in the oppression of their peoples.
My solution to the time problem (apart from my Jumpman headcanon) is the DK we see on the Mario games is Cranky, while the DK Country games take place around 50 years in the future. Assuming Cranky and Mario are the same age, that would Cranky 75, DK Jr around 50 and also assuming DK III is as old as Cranky was, DK III would be 25. And to clear Diddy and Funky being in Mario Kart and Mario Party, Mario is racing alongside himself as a baby through implied time travel. It's not out of the probability Mario time travelled to the future and invited his frenemy's grandkids to party and race in the past.
you can connect the Mii's to the universe as well because in the Wii version of Tetris Mii's can be spotted in the levels connecting the Mii's to tetris. And you can also connect Fortnite because Darthvader is in fortnite and that connects other stuff like family guy, stranger things AMONG US and with among us you can connect FNF Because of the FNF vs impostor mod being somewhat cannon to the among us timeline and that can connect to fall guys and that can connect with doom

I find your criticism to be not just the most salient I've heard of Pikmin 4 but probably 95% agreeable if not more so. The only disagreement I have is trusting the Sage Leaf to not be beaten into the ground if implimented as a major character. I thought that Glow Pikmin do indeed use their light, as the ectoplasm blob attack, which I understood to be a "strobe flash" attack, but this seems to be termanology I invented and was never refered to as such, it's called the "glowmob" attack. On the subject of the sage leaf and leaflings, I found it rather odd that you respected the sage leaf's whims of keeping him as is when no other leafling bar Olimar showed the slightest ounce of consent to coming back to the ship with you and being cured. All other leaflings wanted to play or test dandori with you and passed out after the challenge, yet you and your crew chose to bring them back after they were unconscious, but they never actually gave you permission to do this. Why was the sage leaf handled differently? An easy speculative explanation is that the leaves are parasites infecting the hosts in the same manner Bulbmin are converted, and the Sage Leaf being alive as long as he had may have just given the parasite enough time to master control and mature its brain enough to appear sentient and cognizant unlike the others. One could argue the host is probably long gone and the leaf has occupied the body for long enough that it's acheived some paralell to squatter's rights, but that subjective call never seems to have factored into the desicion making when opting to leave the sage alone after his trials. I agree 100% that as neat as the night missions were they were too underwhelming to feel like anything more than an afterthought and a blight on the canon of Pikmin. While glow pikmin's application in caves as an emergency temporary force was neat they still felt too underutilized. I also agree that the 3 type limit (along with the flarlic-induced pikmin cap feeling too stifiling, I have many more issues with that than appreciation) and only was there for accessibility to ease the player into learning the pikmin gameplay style. Fact is so many QoL improvements alone gives this game an insane amount of accessibility, such as Pikmin pathfinding and object carrying physics not glitching out and eating your pikmin or keeping them held down for nothing. In fact other jank like throwing glitches or enemy hitbox registration fixes alone make the gameplay feel significantly better than 1 and 2's neutral combat moments. The fact that P3 and 4 polished the physics so much that despite the games being significanlty easier than 1/2 it felt like a more than acceptable trade off at the time. Firestarters kicked ass. It's like refining the Bomb Rock/ yellow pikmin concept of P1 in a much more fair and balanced way. Blues need a function like this more than reds do imo, but I won't complain that I have a reason to carry reds around after getting purples, rocks, and ice for all my combat needs. Your critisms is much appreciated as you chose to talk a lot on details I haven't heard much talked about regarding this game. Everyone's discussed how slow and uneeded the crew dialog is, so I understand why you only mentioned it as a contrast to Olimar's Shipwreck Tale.
I really dont think Oatchi breaks any dog lore. We see Bulbie still exists. Theres just different breeds. And heck even Oatchi's breed still looks like it'd be the namesake of Bulborbs...
Another possibility for the divergence in the generations between the Kongs and Mario is that Mario and his family travel between different worlds and time goes by at different rates on those worlds. Anyone who is familiar with the Narnia series will be familiar with this sort of idea
To me, Super Mario RPG is part of the game canon, then Mario and Luigi is its own canon, then Paper Mario is its own mini-canon within Mario and Luigi.
I like that instead of complaining like a ton of other video essays on this topic and saying "I don't like the dog I don't like the easiness I don't like the auto lock I hate it all blah blah" you actually gave really good alternative ways of crafting the game the way the designers did but with tweaks that would enhance it. So many people complain, but then are begging for the next game, but you arent one, this is a good video.
Unlikely, Donkey Kong III shows up in game like Mario Kart 64 which takes place before Super Mario Sunshine. While a full grown Donkey Kong Junior is seen in Super Mario Kart obviously taking place before MK64. We also know of course DKA takes place before Mario Bros.

i believe that some or most of the mario games are set in different universes, a clear proof of this can be seen in the new super mario bros series, if we check the appearence of the mushroom kingdom in NSMB WII and NSMB U it's clear that it's not the same place and as such not the same universe, we also forget a lot about the fact we're talking about a video game series featuring a plumber trying to save a princess from a turtle godzilla monster, try finding logic in this because i'm sure Nintendo never pondered about logic in their own creation to the point it becomes meta, speaking of meta, several games mostly paper mario games like thousand year door and super paper mario does lots of fourth wall breaking to a point where the characters themselves don't take the game seriously i'm not saying that trying to put each games in a set timeline is bad, i'm saying it's pretty much impossible given the goofy universe we're dealing with and yet i still share my headcanon because why not so my headcanon is that paper mario as seen in every single game featuring paper mario is its own character, and it seems that the existance of dopplegangers is okay in the mario universe considering we got similar cases like metal mario in mario kart but are they really the exact same "Mario"? My take on this is that super mario rpg and mario and luigi and paper mario do happen like in paper mario thiers the penquin who is a self insert for the writer of the games well you see theirs a saying that when imagination is so powerful that it can become real like that book we say that contained the paper world actually was filled to the brime with pure imagination
@@adriel179 so the Manga in question is the KC Mario Manga series which deviates from the story of the games, and is a sperate continuity because of it. Princess Peach owns a Circus for some reason and runs it for several years in Big City having the Mario Bros perform for her, instead of running the Mushroom Kingdom. Princess Peach also kidnapped Donkey Kong Junior in this continuity. Donkey Kong Senior aka Cranky Kong is never owned by Mario as a pet in this continuity, nor ever performed at a Circus. He is also a Kaiju in this manga. DK Snr. also only kidnaps Pauline because DK Jr. asked him to, while in the games he did it to get a rise out of Mario. The events of DKJR-The Game n Watch games never play out, and the first game that is the only thing that plays out, and it it doesn't even happen in the same way. DK Snr. also wears a snake as a necktie something that doesn't happen in the games, and he doesn't wear one until later on. Pauline performed at the Circus with DK Jr. and she never dated Mario in this continuity. And instead of Becoming the Mayor of New Donk City stays with the Kongs. Donkey Kong Junior was Circus performer at this time and grew up to be the modern Donkey Kong. This goes against the games where he is the father of the modern Donkey Kong and looks completely different. Plus if this manga series was intended to be canon, then it would have been stated.
Maybe in The Mushroom Kingdom there is a sort of αμβροσια, the thing that makes you immortal (actually just unaging) like in greek myths. That would explain the ætrrnal youth of Mario, princess Peach and others from the mario cast.
Mario has worked lots of jobs over the course of his life. He even does something relating to them after/during his hero career (e. g. Dr. Mario, mario teaches typing)
Dr. Mario would take place early on due to the fact Super Mario Odyssey and Mario Superstar Baseball reference it as a past event. This would also be further evident by viruses showing up in future games. Mario teaches typing probably isn't canon. We also know Mario's profession over everything else is plumbing even though he is a jack of all trades. There really isn't a after hero career that we know of.
Existence of ruins in Sarassaland implies that humans had lived there in ancient times, but disappeared somewhen, and then current inhabitants of Sarassaland came from somhere else more recently. Maybe from people in Mushroom Kingdom as colony?
I think they all originate from the Metro Kingdom or City Country. Also, aside from Daisy what other humans do we really see in Sarassaland? Also, don't say Wario cause he's either from the Mushroom Kingdom or Big Ape City due to the fact he's Mario's childhood friend.
