Welcome to Tarvould's Quest! I do retrospectives, I do top 10s, and I also host a Video Game Music Trivia show for other content creators! I'm having a lot of fun, and hopefully you do too if you tune in.
That game over "music" for Symphony of the Night was unique to English localized versions. The game over music for SotN in Japan is this incredibly beautiful vocal piece called "Nocturne" ... And everyone should listen to it.
I played this game after like 15 years of never touching it and ended up loving it again after so long. Yes, it's not the most comfortable, but playing on the 3DS was a little better. Definitely nostalgia plays a factor in my enjoyment. I have so many memories of playing this on car trips and playing local multiplayer with my brother. I would always play as Trace, while my brother would lockjaw kill me with Sylux... good times...
Star Wars: Kinect mentioned! The best part of that game was the music covers. There are like 6-8 really well done covers and they are all great to listen to at least once. Great for reaction content *winkwink*nudgenudge*.
I knew it wasn't going to be in there bc it's too obscure and also too obvious at the same time, but the Celica's Theme remix from Brawl is such a standout to me. One, it just slaps, but TWO, it took an at-the-time completely unheard of song from FE2 of all games and turned it into the first Fire Emblem theme you hear in Subspace, to the point that a lot of people probably associate that song more from Smash than from Fire Emblem even after Shadows of Valentia came out.
I have watched several of these in the last two days -- but this is the first one I've watched while I was able to track my score :D I got 69 points (NICE). Favourite new piece I discovered from this was the Panzer Dragoon one from the Xbox round!
Who's to say there isn't a materializing of X on command where by some automatic sensor or done manually does it before he hits the ground which can explain the tree leaves moving lol
@@TarvouldsQuest thanks a lot for taking the time to reply. I am really enjoying this series that I just discovered. I'm looking forward to watch all of your videos now.
I can't believe that I have been living the last 12 years (damnit, I remember that game coming out and I feel old now) without knowing about the Hans solo song from Kinect Star Wars. Now it's stuck in my head and I don't know if it's a good thing or not but it's 100% memeable.
Definitely the game I've performed best at so far, netting a total of 84 points in competition with the three contestants. Pokémon was definitely a good category for me and my very niche taste in video game music helped out quite a bit in round 2. Bombs For Throwing At You is such a fun track.
89 (+14 if Before and After gives half points) 54:21 lmao I literally just died in ME2 a minute beforehand, so I kinda had an unfair advantage. And Marco I’m disappointed in you that you missed Bloodborne
I love using this series as a way to know what other music I can cover! xD But in all seriousness, I love this series so much! It's not only fun to hear what the knowledge of the VGM RU-vidrs I watch is, but also to try and guess myself! Keep doing this, I always love it!
this took me by surprise when it appeared in my feed, I thought the last episode was a fitting send off. Glad for more though! 14:48 OH MY GOOOOOD! 21:55 that hint was a dead giveaway for me but I also knew it before the hint. 46:19 I think it's actually called Vehicle Select? 56:34 I actually thought it was Solid Snake so I *hope* the way an almost-guess is counted is clarified. Because I'm actually keeping score this time! 1:10:43 I think 8-Bit was thinking of Piers here, he has his own unique theme. 1:17:46 I love this one. Can we PLEASE make this round longer though, it feels basically irrelevant in how many points it grants compared to how often runaways occur. Marco was completely out of it mathematically at the start. total points: 151. My favorite song I hadn't heard before is probably the one from Black Myth Wukong.
I totally predicted the Mario 2 character selection screen. There was no way that one wouldn't show up. Hearing Star Tropics, Final Fantasy Tactics, and two Mana games made my ears happy. Hearing no one get Super Metroid right kind of shocked me. I figured that one was a freebie.
I always like finding out what win/lose points sound everyone chose! I know Marco's was the FF6 opera scene, Husky's was I think Mega Man 7 for getting a point and Super Mario World for losing, but 8Bit's I'm not sure... Winning was maybe Kid Icarus bur losing I have no idea 😅
Marco's were Celes singing at the Opera (upward inflection for +, downward inflection for -) since he's both an Opera singer, and his favorite composer is Nobuo Uematsu. 8bit's were both from Kid Icarus, mostly cause I had just watched his Kid Icarus episode, and that it came up in this episode itself. Husky's + was actually from Mega Man X, getting a Heart Tank or Sub Tank, and his - was Link dying in Link to the Past! Since he said he was such a Mega Man and Zelda fan. I picked them out myself!
Honestly this one was starting out as the hardest one for me yet but due to the Pokemon stuff and somehow managing to get the before and after segment I ended with 172 POINTS! Honestly, I’m gonna have to check out that F-Zero clone game that was talked about it sounded great
I counted 99 points for me (I mostly got it on the 2000's and Pokémon categories). I can't believe the first question I got correct was Kinect Star Wars though.
Would you have accepted "The Ashen One" for the Dark Souls question. (That was a title given by the maiden that helped you level up in DS2, I think.) I wanted to know if I should add it or subtract it from my score.
As soon as I heard that one of the Patreon submission categories was death themes, I hoped someone would put in the MGS3 one just to trip everyone up with the series’s mess of Snakes.
The Bonus Patreon round was just the Tropical theme. Any numbered round is all curated by me personally. I was VERY close to using Raiden's from MGS2 but MGS3 was too tempting.
I might have tallied wrong cause I was playing along while at work, but I managed 79 points overall. The choice of the Han Solo song was hilarious to me. It's honestly such a meme-worthy song to me lol. For the AI themes I thought the theme would be arm cannon characters, but I don't remember if the Portal Gun was affixed to Chell's arm like one. I think my new favorite track here would be the Ys 8 one. Never played the series, so I guess I have some listening to do.
I hate this. So many tunes I know inside out that out of context my brain could not figure out - Sonic 3, FFX, Super Metroid... Even SONIC HEROES which randomly pops into my head to this day lol. This is why I hate Music Quizzes too, even as a music teacher, play me a song out of the blue and even if I know it, I WILL forget the artist and song name lol
