Hello. I am new to the channel. I am currently working as a security contractor in Texas and have been for 13 years. I have done different workouts based on my position and what is driving me. Recently for my birthday i got a gaming PC so i can enjoy doing what i loved as a kid and that is flight simulators. I wasnt able to accomplish my dream of becoming a pilot due to things outside of my control but this is giving me that challenge doing what i love. Currently flying the F/A-18C on DCS World and since my focus has shifted to studying and learning everything from cold starts to programming JDAMs my workouts have suffered a little. I am looking forward to your videos and it will get me excited again to be in the gym even if I'm flying a sim because currently im am lacking that competitive spirit and the f***s, lol. I hope you are doing well out there and thank you for your service.

super late, not sure you're gonna see this, but amazing workout; just tried it the other day. Ive been pondering on your leg day, and was wondering, if you were at home with more accessible machines, weights etc. would you train differently? to give more context, would you do different workouts that are more optimal for performance in the jet, or do you do the same leg day routine at your home gym? if you do differently, would you mind sharing what you think is best.

Is there any specific word for controlling or redirecting the blood flow from legs as you mentioned? I came here trying to search for something like Voluntary blood flow stopping to legs, and I now know it's Isometric contraction. I could do it since I was a kid, but I can't hold it for longer than like 3-4 seconds and after doing a couple of sets I monitored my BPM with a smartwatch and it went from 90 to 120. Pretty fascinating!!

For SA: I probably skip leg day too often but I am a prior competition aerobatic pilot and will by pulling 6G this week in preparation. I've pulled 7.5, unsustained, with no trouble in the past.

This video is so cool! I've wanted to become a fighter pilot for a while now even though I don't like roller coasters. However, I feel like g's in a centrifuge/inside the cockpit of a jet is would be easier for me to deal with than a coaster. I just have a few questions, Is higher or lower g-tolerance a trait people are born with, can someone be born with higher g-tolerance or lower g-tolerance? And if that is true, do you know what makes someones g-tolerance higher or lower in there body?

The AGSM? Very very dissimilar from valsalva, which is designed to clear the ear pressure differential built up in flight, unrelated to G forces.

Hello. Just found your video while looking for info on g tolerance. I do have a question. If you're only flying 2-3 times a week, how much tolerance (if any) do you stand to lose? And if you're off for an extended period of time, how long might it take you to build your tolerance back up? Thanks!
@FighterPilotFitness
@FighterPilotFitness 2 года назад
I still have times where, when I haven’t flown for over a week or so, I need to take it easy and get back into my G tolerance/resistance. The capability to withstand G is only diminished by about 1 G, and it usually takes only a couple sorties to get right back on it!

@@FighterPilotFitness For me, It was the dieting techniques. More specifically, how to burn fat reserves while maintaining muscle. I'm 6"2' and 210 and i'd say roughly 20%-30% in body fat (give or take). I've been implementing these techniques for the past few weeks and ive noticed a change in my physique (aesthetically speaking) but little to no decline in weight whatsoever. I've noticed body fat around my stomach, and those annoying love handles, decrease in size, while my upper and lower body has been increasing in muscle mass. The challenging thing for me was always knowing what to eat. After watching this video I went to the store and picked up those packs of pre-cut, frozen, vacuum-sealed salmon. This was a miracle worker cause it's high protein, and has just the right fats to support muscle growth for a cut. Some Greek Yogurt with fruit for breakfast is really my only carb intake to start the day. Eating the right things, some running here and there, and making a mortal enemy out of my 55-pound Kettlebell, is all I really needed. This channel, and specifically this video, seriously helped in knowing how to go about this cut and I truly am grateful that I came across this. My results speak for themself!

Both started primarily in high school for me. General fitness interest was even before that, but I got more serious as I got closer to applying for the Air Force Academy. The WGASF became the path when the Air Force gifted it to me :) I wanted to fly ever since starting at USAFA, and knew I wanted fighters, and it was near the top of the list. After my time as a FAIP, it worked out that the needs of Air Force coincided with the dream!

What foods do you think strengthen the lungs?
@FighterPilotFitness
@FighterPilotFitness 3 года назад
Any foods that are rich in nitrates (beet greens), carotenoids (pumpkin, tomato), and vitamin C, as well as other antioxidants. Those should help general lung health, but a fitness routine that challenges the cardiovascular system is critical in tandem.

I’ll just chat over this, so currently like I said, I got accepted to BGSU they have a aviation program and a AF ROTC and I have around 38 hours in for my PPL. I toured BGs AF ROTC program and talked with them a while and I’m very interested, I’ve always wanted to serve and I love aviation so I decided to try and go for it. I’m wondering what route you took to get where you are at now, and if you think it’s a good idea to shoot for a aviation major while trying to get a pilot slot through rotc?
@FighterPilotFitness
@FighterPilotFitness 3 года назад
Awesome, man! We can always chat more at the channel’s email anytime (fighterpilotfitness@gmail.com), so feel free to hit me up there. I was a USAFA guy myself, but have flown with and do fly with plenty of ROTC-commissioned guys. It’s your 2nd best bet numbers-wise to become a pilot, with the Academy being the best odds; but the academy also has a small acceptance rate, so pick your poison in that regard. Let me be among the people who’ll tell you that ROTC is a good call and you should be pleased with your decision! As for the aviation major, I wouldn’t sweat that too much. I’ve flown with history majors in the fighter pilot world, and I’ve flown with double majors in physics and math. My major was electrical engineering. It runs the gamut, and if you’re willing to put the work into whatever your route is, the Air Force needs good pilots. That being said, a technical background in your major is going to be a must if you’re considering things like test pilot school or some special pilot programs that could arise later in your career. Even then, however, there are always exceptions. In any case, I wouldn’t subscribe to the aviation major as a necessity, or even a guaranteed advantage, for Air Force flying. Knowing some guys who got that major, sometimes the material wasn’t all that useful to them for the training pipeline; but if it interests you, go for it! As another note, you probably already know the things I say in this section, or you’ve already watched it, but check out around 09:30 in the Q&A video I did while deployed if you haven’t. Might offer a few more words on the topic, though arguably more fitness-y in some sections. Good luck, man!

@@FighterPilotFitness thanks I really appreciate the input, I honestly am gonna shoot for the slot and push myself, as of late that’s what I’ve been doing school wise (even tho all online really sucks) and fitness wise due to from what I’ve read being in peak shape and getting a good fitness test score helps you get the a slot plus I feel pretty great. But you are a inspiration to me and I really appreciate you responding, and if I have anymore questions I’ll absolutely shoot you a email, thanks again I really appreciate it :)

Should aerobic exercise be avoided then? As it decreases resting heart rate ??
@FighterPilotFitness
@FighterPilotFitness 3 года назад
Great question! Not quite - exceeding aerobic exercise or cardio can diminish G tolerance, but it’s not all bad. For G tolerance, body mass is good, but body fat is not. Cardio should be coupled with weight lifting to make sure that muscle growth happens while heart health develops, all while keeping body fat lower.
