I saw comments saying it lasts 20-30 mins. What size of battery are you using 3ah? I've only got 2ah rigid batteries. But i also bought a step down to reduce the voltage to 12V. Will that nake any difference in the length of play? I've got 3x2ah batteries. So quick and easy to swap. But want to make sure it will last a bit. My dad also has a 4ah rigid battery. So thinking that could be a backup option
I run 2x 20v Craftsman batteries in parallel making 40v. The stock 12v motors, but i put them in Powerwheels gearboxes with metal 1st gears. I bought powerwheels adapters for the plastic wheels and zip screwed the adaptors onto the wheels to mate to the new gear boxes. It all works and the the thing rips.
That sounds rad! Maybe I should make a fun video taking things to the next level. The tractor is pretty much outgrown. They put so many miles on it. So many smiles and giggles!
Also update the 12vdc motors couldnt handle it and popped, but i replaced them with cheap 24v motors and it's been going strong for a month. And the powerwheels gear boxes are sold on amazon as well with metal first gears but you need to buy power wheels recievers to mate to the peg perego wheels. I just blasted a few machine screws into the recievers to the wheel holds up fine.
Thanks, you are a life saver ………. My first Grandson got the JDeere tractor with bucket and trailer in 2014 I think, and now my second grandson whom is 4 , well it’s his. I went to 2 wmart stores to get replacement battery, but none found. So , there had to be a way to modify other batteries to adapt. Well, our battery powered tools are Ryobi brand, and I’ll check for a charger that I can swap out as you did . 1-30-2024 🇺🇸. Remember the ALAMO 🇺🇸
I changed out the 12v and swapped exactly to what you have. Worked wonders for 2days and then nothing. Batteries charged and no movement. Any suggestions?
Appreciate the video. Tempted to do this with my son's. Ive got tons of 20v and flexvolt DeWalt batteries. Think the wiring would handle 20 volts? Ive seen other videos in the past where people wire in a voltage regulator but i like how simple this is!
Milwaukee m18 batteries are also 20 volt. Dewalt decided to up the label to 20 volt to trick people. Every milwaukee battery I have ever tested actually tests a little higher than dewalt.
Removing the dump bed stanchion can be removed easily, by removing the red pin underneath the bed. The stanchion then is able to push out through the bottom - no need struggling with trying to pull it up and through. Just did this 10 minutes ago after watching your video, made the bed removal 10x easier/less frustrating. Great video!!!
Yes, I saw someone do that after I made the video. Which is wild because I've been doing it the way I showed everyone forever. Thanks for the comment and kind words!
@@dailyswithdave Here we have a upgraded power tools battery adapter for Milwaukee M18 battery, which added fuses and switch for more security. If you're interested in trying this, we'd send you free one for trial, and you help us take a short video. How about this?
Question. I have the same gator for my kid but it has 2 red 2 blue wires going to the battery, you just have 1 of each it looks like. Wrap them together with the pos/neutral and it should work the same?
@@dailyswithdave hey Dave, def appreciate the response. It is certainly 4 wires that go into the blue peg-perego plastic connector (which connects to the battery). I am thinking of either keeping the connector and pulling the pos/neutral off the battery, or pigtailling the wires to the 18v battery adapter. What would you do?
This is super cool if you want to spend more money than stock, have less run time, and have less safety than stock, though you do get a bit of a bump in power for what, 10 or 15min? Why not just purchase a replacement Peg Perego one, and use your old one as a spare when the big one runs out ? Buying M18s is expensive, like twice the price for the same amp hours. Plus the heat gun (BIC lighter would do fine, or even a match) and adapter. Depending on the tool battery that you choose, it might have a fuse built in that could/will blow, or you'll run it down to 0% and kill the life of them, or they could get damaged (rattling around all the time in there) and start on fire. There's a reason they use a sealed battery with all kinds of shielding for the kids toys.
Thought I replied.. probably 20mins run time. Longer on pavement and less in the weeds. The best part is just swapping out the battery for a fresh one. Don’t have to wait to charge it. O and the tractor is way faster.
@@dailyswithdave thank you. He’ll be sick this month and he’s had it since he was too. We want to get him something a little bit bigger but I think in the meantime, if I can just make it go faster for it should be all right. Looking more for like a go cart or dirtbike, maybe for Christmas
So basically on Amazon I found the same thing but it’s a Kobalt 24 V. It looks the exact same as the 18 V that you did. Even the wire stripping. Do you believe that would work as well? I did read that I didn’t need to buy electric gear for rear tires but those are easy. Thoughts ?
@@dailyswithdave ya makes no sense to me either just my luck lol. I tried jumping it. That didn't work its toast. 2 years old to. Waiting on a response from Milwaukee
Now that they have some use out of it. It's about 20-30mins of run time. It's nice though because I have 4 batteries. So it's a quick swap and throw the spent one on the charger. The kids love it.
Yeah, motors and gears are holding up. I had to replace the original gears that were 11 years old. They have HOURS on it this summer. 2 hours just this morning. 👍
