This music is absolutely amazing. Having seen your video, I will now rush to buy a MS-20, fail to make any decent music, sell it then buy something else I don’t know how to use……
I think the issue a lot of new gear has is people are expecting these new instruments to be something they aren’t or dismiss them entirely because it’s missing a specific function. I’m guilty of this when I first got the Tempest. Because it has all the LM1, Linn Drum, 808, 909, DR55, Tom, samples built in I was just using it as a “Dial up Linn Drum” and completely ignoring the fact it’s a “Tempest”. It has its own sound and own capabilities and own limitations and it’s up to you to find the instruments own voice and put it into your music. I feel the same about the original DrumBrute and now the Korg Drumlogue. Are they perfect? No. Does it sound like an 808 or 909 or whatever....sort of but that’s completely missing the point that it’s not an 808 or 909, it’s a Korg Drumlogue and it has its own voice and it’s up to the user to showcase this in th it music. Remember, the 808 was a flop when it first came out and it wasn’t until years later did someone embrace its voice and give it a proper showcase.
I agree… part of what’s great about the drumlogue is the ranges and scaling of the different controls are very thoughtful. You can use the minimum and maximum knob positions and it still sounds good. It makes it unusually easy to use.
It is pity its screen is so tiny to fill so many things, which make me eyes quite uncomfortable. Otherwise, I will definitely have a try with this cool drum machine.
Bought this and very impressed by it but would be nice if you included a full patch list with the download so i can make a patch sheet to add to the front of my synth.
This was an eye opener and definitely had some good info for me. I'm sort of on a Prophet 6 journey right now. I'm simple when it comes to synths. Soundtracks are my love. 80s, horror, zombies, slashers, action, b movies. Anything with a synthesizer score im all about. I've had a Juno-6 and a Polysix for a really long time now (about 8 years) and they're my 2 only workhorses. Literally does everything i could ask for in an 80s movie soundtrack. That being said, i am NOT a pro musician. Mostly just an enthusiast of analog synthesizers. I've been thinking of downsizing considerably and selling the Juno-6 and Polysix and just having a Prophet 6. I think it would suit my needs perfectly and of course, wouldn't have to worry about maintenance. What are your thoughts on this decision? Just looking for some feedback as this would be a HUGE change and most likely the last synthesizer i ever purchase and own.
@@pfmdude Hey, thanks for your comment, this sounds like maybe the wrong move to me, I wouldn’t take a p6 over a Juno 6 and Polysix. I think an OB-6 is more what you’re looking for. It does what you’re looking for better than the p6. The p6 tone is angelic, but the OB-6 brings the dark, dystopian side much easier and brightens up too. I know it’s weird that it’s not a straight ahead Sequential synth but that’s where the magic is. The OB-6 is the synth dream of the 80s.

@@pfmdude Thanks! I have a rev2 now after taking a couple years off of the Prophet sound and am finding it super inspiring. But yeah, the p6 would be a pretty good fit for what you're looking for, I just think the OB-6 would be exactly what you need.
Had a coule of MS20s in the 1990 , recently got a K2, and a Behringer MS5.. These sounds you are programming are insane !! I am trying to work out your patching. ✌️fromOz
If you have an apple phone, yeah, you have some of the best generative and traditional sequencers that exist! But if you have any other phone os, you kinda just have Sunvox and Caustic, until very recently if you wanna go full on DAW, but I'll be honest the DAWs on android feel like the worst versions of themselves in terms of updates and optimization, and definitely do not feel comfortable on a phone. I've never had an iphone but I went out of my way to get an iPad years ago and forced myself to deal with apple's horrible ecosystem to have access to some of the best sounding portable soft synths. My iPad is really just a portable Korg synth collection at this point, but Android always gets left in the dust unfortunately. On the flip side, my android phone easily goes 2 full days without needing to charge 🤷♂️
@@GeorgeL909 I didn’t know Xynthesizr was just for iPhone/iPad. No wonder the aliens won’t talk to us heh even our phone operating systems can’t get along
@@Sound_ology I would buy it a second time if it was on Android, I'm always keeping an eye. Android just got Cubasis 3 and Zenbeats, but those are much more comfortable on a tablet anyways. Besides I'm trying to lean away from DAWs. I will say though, Koala Sampler is on android, and you could build the bones of a full album easily on that thing. Not a great external sequencer though.
@@Ijustwastedyourtime0 they’re pretty rare but if you wait long enough they’ll turn up for maybe 1500. Lots of them need minor repairs, but everything is laid out really well inside, working on them is fun and easy

1:02 if you patch something into pitch in, it affects all to the right. However, you can put a "dead" cable (just dont put anything in the other end) in any pitch in to the right, and it will nullify the effect on it and other oscillators to the right
I love the original size. Gotta say, one of my students had a k2 and it sounded like a real one to me. I was surprised, I think there are a lot of bad sounding k2 demos on RU-vid
Yeah it’s kind of a pain. If your daw has time stretching or quantization that’s what I’d recommend. I use Ableton and the complex warp mode to adjust the tempo to fit, and I think it sounds really good
