You want to know what We Use, Well I am a KORG Man, I have had a TON of Instruments since the M1 Came out, I use to Love the DX7 Rhodes sound that Bellish Sound but FM doesn't cut it overall, Roland has a Dark Smothered sound to Me I had a JV1010, I have a XV5050 and XV2020 and they sound Dark, XP30 Dark -- I use Korg M50, N1R, X50, NS5R, I am mostly into Electric Pianos and Acoustic Pianos and Pads with Pianos and as a Gospel Musician I feel Korg touches the Spot, They seem to Care More about their SAMPLE QUALITY, This M50 is a Baby of the M3 and It is All I would Need, I have some Yamaha cheap stuff QY100 MU128 and had a SY85 Synth a long time ago but KORG Patches MOVE ME on the Inside.
Did you try Keyscape and Trillian? Along with Omnisphere, Eric Persing did the sound design (Spectrasonics). He as the chief sound designer of Roland from 1984-2004. The problem with older hardware, it is going to fail sooner or later. Some things can be repaired and some things cannot.
Had one (and a XV 2020 and a JV1010) sadly sold them and changed them with sme kind of mobile device. The old sound modules have some strenghts, although MIDI DIN is not very common .
I've had my xv3080 with several cards for 20 plus years and still works great. And you're right I'll never get rid of it. I love hardware, can't do the plug ins
I thought I was gonna see you with two XV-3080s LOL. 2:03 Oh you got SRX-05 that's the last good Roland expansion because it's the last Spectrasonics expansion.
Roland pretty much ruled the 90s esp the JV series on nearly ever R&B record of that era esp Rodney Jerkins being a heavy user hence the Harp sound on Brandy & Monica - The Boy is Mine. I have the Roland Integra-7 in my rack that includes all the sounds of the JV-1080, JV-2080, XV-5080, plus modern Jupiter sounds. Its got some sounds from the JD990 as well. I'm pretty much hybrid these days as I use both soft synths and hardware rack mount synths. I own most of all all the sounds of the 90s and 00s in my rack from Motif ES, Fantom XR, E-MU Proteus 2000, Mo' Phatt.. I even got the Korg Triton software too. Its something about hardware that software can't replicate esp analog warmth.
For me, I never used those old ones so I'm looking at something new and different. I have an Arturia Spark LE, I should just use that, but I love the 4x4 drumpad. I got the Presonus Atom drumpad and it feels great for snare rolls.
I own a 2080 and absolutely love it! The expansion cards for these units are incredible, especially Vintage Synth, Techno, and House. I'm a huge fan of both plugins and hardware synths (love the V Collection, Diva, Serum, etc)...but I find the richness and polyphony from the 2080 to be almost unbeatable. Of all the hardware synths I own, I would be hard pressed to say it isn't one of the most useful, it is definitely up there with the Hydrasynth, Digitone and Analog Four despite being 25+ years old!
Got the key 37 on day 1 and it's my first MPC experience. I really don't think I'll need the ssd, due to the sd card and usb slot. I don't use a lot of samples (mostly drum one-shots) and the sd card holds 100s of samples with ease. Hopefully stems won't give the 2gb of RAM too much trouble, but we'll find out when it releases.
I agree. Plus it's still easy like I've done on my other MPC'S to add a USB hub and an external hard drive. My MPC ONE+ and MPC ONE both have 2 TB drives attached with Velcro underneath. Works perfect and it only takes a minute to plug something in 🔌
Oh Im sure they will but I'm mostly stating that the form factor is probably the best mpc for most people since it offers a lot at a low price point. I like the SD Card option so not really missing the internal SSD I mean I wish it had it but not really a deal breaker for me and neither is the RAM. when you're used to older classic MPC's, 2GB is a lot already quite honestly.
Exactly and that to me though is why it's the perfect setup to grab! You don't have to hook up an external midi controller to it because it's all built into one unit and Im not concerned with the lack internal drive because I can just add a big SD card in the back of it.
Great video. I needed to hear this even though Im a year late from seeing this video. I never truly mastered my 4k because of life events. Was about to jump in the water and grab the new akai37. Now im gonna chill for a while and just rock with what im working with.
I’ve been running my mk3 through FL studio for about 3 years now. Best decision I’ve ever made. the 2 integrate surprisingly well. Drums hit harder too without having to mix. I respect your opinion tho
Late last year I discovered the Kawai K4 synth. Wow! If you get a chance to check one out do it. They're dirt cheap but sound incredibly good. Great for pad sounds and lo-fi vibes
Big mistake hommie. Ive got a 4k and i use them both. Think of the maschine as a keybord made for music production. The area that the MK3 excels in it the sound library and how well it connects to my analog gear aka asr 10 and mpc 4k zoom 224 and eps 16 plus. And there are times when i want a cleaner siund and the maschine gives me just that. Plus if I want to trap or make drill beats the grid on the maschine gives me the tight timing that i look for.
Not sure what your setup is like or what your DAW is but typically it would go something like this. MPC Connection: Outputs of Live 2 -> Audio interface -> To computer. MIDI Connection: MIDI to USB cable -> Computer DAW- If using Logic then its the same as the video shows. Any other DAW I wouldn't have insight to. On the MPC Live II you have to turn on the Midi Sync feature. I don't own one of those units so I can't say where it is on it but you have to find it and turn it on. Hope that helps some. :)
Midi cable I use now. -> www.amazon.com/LEKATO-Interface-Connecting-Synthesizer-Professional/dp/B09KZ3X59K/ref=sr_1_3_sspa?keywords=midi%2Bto%2Busb&qid=1703639743&sr=8-3-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&th=1
Unfortunately for Christmas I bought the maschine MK3 and I haven't been able to use it yet. I don't know if it's not getting enough power to the laptop or what. The power cord used to come with earlier versions but now it only comes with the USB I can't get past the startup screen.. I'm having trouble downloading the software, just haven't been able to use it yet in almost a month!!!
