I had the corporate IT job day after day but it wasn't fulfilling. After finding out about solo long distance backpacking I decided to go on a lot of long backpacking trips and otherwise live out of my converted 4Runner. Driving around this great country and see everything I feel like seeing, mostly outdoor activities, is what I really wanted to do. In 2018 I thru hiked the Pacific Crest Trail, in 2019 I thru hiked the Wonderland Trail, in 2021 I thru hiked the Arizona Trail, and now in 2022 I will be thru hiking the Appalachian Trail. Please join me as I spend the rest of my life exploring this great country!

When I sleep in my Landcruiser, I leave the hatch open and I attach a car tent to my vehicle. I then run a Little Buddy propane heater hooked to a 20lb tank in the tent area only. I know propane increases condensation, but with all of that extra ventilation the tent provides, I never get condensation in my car or the tent. then I run a 12v heating blanket in my sleeping bag. Always stay warm and never see any water. Just my 2c
One of the most informative videos I've watched. I need to get tested because I can't even cope with milk in my tea. Swells up my right side and gives me bad mucus diarrhea soon after. Never thought about the possible cause since now. I can't handle any cheese either 🙄
9:55: "If a bear thinks of you as food, you're going to be in trouble no matter what" well at least they will find you're bell in his feces somewhere to indicate which bear ate you 😂
I own an oru lake I bought used. I was surprised how large the "suitcase" actually is. Seems like the tucktec has a much smaller footprint when folded up. These are both boats for calm waters. Taking them out on windy days or when there's a lot of boat traffic won't end well. Neither one would handle water on the inside well. You can buy float bags for the oru (about $70), but that doesn't really solve the problem only makes it a little bit better. They both have 3 year warranties, which offers some reassurance. I've read that tucktec will honor their warranty if you experience an issue. Reading through the oru literature, you need to register it within 90 days or the 3 year warranty isn't applied. I don't know if they'd hold you to that, but seems a little sketchy. At the end of the day I want a boat that is easy to get into and out of, is very unlikely to sink, handles small waves and some wind, and doesn't take up a ton of space. Right now that has me leaning towards the inflatables- advanced elements, sea eagle, etc. They do weigh a little more- my inflatable is about 30 lbs compared to 15-20 of these. But I definitely feel more secure in it compared to the oru and I'm guessing the Tucktec as well. By nature it wants to stay above the water, so even if something really bad happens, it would be easier to get back in than these foldable options.
I don't see an issue. It's an area humans come to take pics and film in large numbers. There has never been a bear attack death in a group of 4 or larger. This was way more than that. The people were staying calm and not triggering the bears chase instinct which sounds like what the guy filming would have done in their place.
Brilliant! I had tried and failed despite following Black Diamond's instructions to the letter, soaking in boiling water for 2 minutes, etc. and was about to give up and buy new poles. This technique worked first time, no problems. Thank you! Why don't BD themselves recommend this method?
How consciously ignorant these tourists really are! All of these individuals that continued filming and photographing this WILD bear SHOULD be ashamed of themselves. Not only are they encroaching on his space - his environment, and while eating, but they continued to push him even further by basically making him have to walk thru/by a crowd of people. They knew he had come up to the road and should’ve immediately left the bridge. This can also stress these bears out and it only takes a split second for him to start charging toward people leaving no reaction time as close as they were to him. The risk that these people took in order to get videos and pictures is absolutely ridiculous! And just as we’ve heard and seen over the last year with same type situations like at Yellowstone National Park. Tourists pushing the limits with animals like bison/bears by trying to actually walk up to them to touch them or to get as close as they a “selfie”. Just like in this video some weren’t attacked. But one that was attacked and lived were outwardly upset blaming others not themselves. I don’t get it!! It’s our responsibility to protect our wild animals and to have respect enough to give them the space they need whenever we are roaming through their home.
Yo dude, you ain't better than them by PARKING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BRIDGE. Just saying, there are plenty of spaces to park around. Also, by taking the time to tell others they should be 900 ft and not 9ft do not excuse you from being right there with them tourons. I live next to this place, and I am aware of the issues the tourists are causing. I also enjoy watching them once every year and I try as much as possible to respect every boundary put in place by the Chilkoot State Recreational area. Just enjoy the show, and share your knowledge with the people out there and not online.
Well wtf were the people susposed to with the bear climbing up onto the bridge and "someone " blocking half of it. You never turn your back to a bear and run. These people are dropped off there from tour companies in hopes of getting pictures of bears, these ones are mainly interested in just the salmon and maybe your tackle box and cooler.
You're actually acting the worst in this group of "people behaving badly". You may be safer from the bear but you're just sitting on a bridge. Blocking them from a clear route to safely move away from the bear but also blocking a road lane.
Agree 100% as they criticize people as they sit in their car on the bridge in a STUPID place to park! They're the dumbest of all sitting there in their car just chatting away. And talking about some stupid s**t. Lol.
it's a road, no blocking....plenty of room to go around. keep the focus on the people not moving away and potentially inching closer to a confrontation
I have never heard of this, but keep telling stories. howabout focusing on the morons that refused to move off the bridge that was a choke point for interaction with the bear
That whole brief but true scenario is just unbelievable other than it being recorded. Honestly if I hadn't seen it? I would not have believed it at all. Now my respect goes entirely too that Grizzly, for it's brazen Trust & Shear calmness that it displayed in those crazy circumstances, where it was giving the people no other choice. But to allow it too pass by on it's way. Maybe 🤔😏🤔 God was in charge in that instance of craziness. Who knows?
@@vincentliu7838 Not really. They will pick off stragglers, but no they will not generally charge right into a herd of elk and try to snatch one. Maybe you should learn a little about the subject before judging others. These people were smart to stay together, stand their ground, and exude confidence. Running off in different directions would be the worst thing they could possibly do. Be happy that you weren't there, as obviously you lack the education to handle this situation.
Im not going to pretend i know bears. But you sure do. Props to you, knowing how aggressive and spontaneous grizzlies can be and determining from this video the chances were 0 danger. Good luck - cause Grizzly Man sure knew bears, and found out. @idwtgymn
@@vincentliu7838 You literally just defended yourself being called out on your judgmental garbage by admitting you know nothing about the subject you were judging on, and not surprisingly failing to say what they should have done instead. Think next time.
Emotional damage much? Resorting to personal attacks? Buddy take a walk you need it. And stay of the trails cause bear can smell yoir full of shyt@idwtgymn
