We Saw Grizzly Bears Every Day Here, Finally!! 

On our way out of Alaska there was another place we wanted to visit where supposedly you can watch bears catching salmon without having to pay an arm and a leg. This place is Haines, Alaska. You have to first drive into Canada in order to drive here but Chilkoot Lake is absolutely worth it! If it's August either the sockeye or pink salmon should be running and the bears will be out! Stay a few nights at the Chilkoot Lake Recreation Site, fish, kayak, and go bear watching! There is plenty to do if you're into any of those things. It seems to be pretty popular and getting even more popular. When cruise ships dock at Skagway they actually offer ferry rides to Haines and a tour bus to the lake to look for bald eagles and bears.
Haines is a must see destination in Alaska.
Last year I got about 10 meters from a grizzly and I said that's the closest I ever wanted to be near one and sadly I get even closer this time while fishing. For real now I don't want to get any closer ever again!
