I am the charity Luthier - I fix guitar, banjos and ukes, etc... I don't charge (except for parts) but I ask clients to donate to my favourite animal charity Assisi Animal Shelter in Bangor County Down. I don't ask my clients to donate a particular amount and I don't ask them to donate in my name; I leave the choice to them AFTER they get their guitar back. (Yes, it's called trust.)
By the way, you can donate too... it's simple.

After trying to play guitar, for 50 years, and discovering that I repair them better than I play them... here I am. This ain't for money... No such thing as a rich man who repairs guitars... I just love guitars. The image is of 'my baby'... a Gretsch... it looks mighty purty.
I can't tell you how happy I am that, that was not my guitar. No protection it while moving that piece of wood around all over the back and using super glue to make a repair. Not an easy fix, but still you have to protect the guitar while you work on it and use the right kind of glue. Hate on me all you want. I'm just sayin.....
Why on earth would I hate on you? I am old school you have an opinion, and you were not rude. I argue for people to have opinions, so your opinion is very valid. I actually agree with you, but may I put some context on your comments? The owner didn't want the hole fixed at all and was ready to dump it. The work I do is all free, and the fix could have been done much better, yes, but I don't do 'woodwork' fixes and have a go. Finally, my channel is for a pet charity, and I do not charge but encourage a donation, and I put up all fixes, good or bad. That means I tend to get many guitars that would never see a luthier as they are too cheap to do expensive fixes on, so I have a go. Keep commenting.... seriously...
Ive got the same model it never comes with frt 2000 , it comes with sh2 in neck and takeuchi jt580 lp floyd (same as yours with the srews on the saddles) , Never had frt 2000 on pro series at all. On US models only.
Been playing with Floyds since the early 80's, the lock nut caps were on right in the first place. You put them on wrong. Look it up. As far as the bridge saddles go, they come in different heights to accommodate for the radius. It's possible, someone took them off at some point and didn't return them in the proper orientation.
thank you.i am currently learning repairwork and have been gifted a similar instrument with some major top damage.my first mandolin resto.appreciate you sharing your knowledge.
Excellent video! I see the vintage white version for $539.99. Very tempting! I like that it's made in Korea, not China. Say no to slave labor. FYI: They make two versions of the same semi-hallow guitar. One with the F cutout hole, and one without. The strange thing is, the version without the cutout hole looks like a solid body, but it is still semi-hallow inside. Usually the same pice: $599.99. The one I am looking at is on sale, that's why it's lower. Pretty sure I'll get it. I prefer the cool look of that F cutout hole, regardless of whether it really makes a difference in the sound.
Great video and a lovely cat. I'll be checking out a '66 Martin mandolin near me in the next few days. Looks to be in great shape, needs a new bridge and I don't love that it has Kluson tuners, not a real fan of those (especially as they age). Keep up the good work, liked and subscribed!
Beautiful Gretsch and always enjoy watching you work on and take care of guitars. It sounds like you are very happy with that guitar so I wouldn’t sell it.
Austen my Gretsch Boxcar Resonator (I truly love the guitar) was advertised as having Grover Tuning Machines. Well about a month or so ago, my Tuners were lose just as the one you noticed. Well I called Fender (they own Gretsch now) they sent me a link & locations of authorized Gretsch dealers "near me". Sadly the ones with in driving distance were ALL closed (Sam Ash Music). So I decided to buy new Grovers for it. They were $55. (Guitar was $500 new). I compared the "Grovers" on the guitar to my new Grovers. No comparison, the stock "Grovers" were trash compared to the real Grovers. Turns out they were unmarked "licensed by Grover" Tuners.) I am extremely happy with the REAL Grovers. I called Fender again, to tell them. Then I noticed the price of my Resonator had dropped $50, so they are now $450. Just a guess, but I THINK, Fender realized their China Factory was skimping on the tuners. (This is just my guess). The guitar plays & sounds great, I play it more than any of my other guitars. So perhaps your Gretsch has "licensed tuners" on it. Btw I bought another Gretsch Electric Hollowbody 2024T it's a very nice guitar made in Indonesia. I got it for $300 new, they sell for almost $500 now. The case for it was $120. LoL but I got the hard case, so its protected. The guitar sounds fabulous (yours that is). Anyway this is a long winded comment (per my usual LoL). Be blessed.
Keep it bud, if you ever get the itch again you will regret it as these are top notch, its ok to have nice things, as long as you dont "need" to sell sell it, I am thinking of getting one of these, the ones made in Korea are well sought after, love the channel btw
Beautiful guitar. Keep her, otherwise she will be another one that got away. Quit letting your brain get in the way of your enjoyment. 🙃 Give Georgie Girl a few extra treats for me.
I just won an instrument that appears exactly the same on eBay. Complete with case and bridge. Marked as for parts only but it was complete in my eyes. Shipped from the UK to California. Re skinned and re strung. Now I just have to learn how to play it!
I bought one of these when they first came out, mine had the Wilkinson pickups but I changed them for some Fluence pickups and routed a channel for the battery, mine cost me £152. I love this guitar and its my living room guitar and so gets played on daily basis!
Maybe it’s a Mighty Mite neck? They are (I believe) licensed by Fender as third party replacement necks, with the same headstock shape but with no decals or markings?
Mexican Fenders did have that black plastic truss rod tube. US Fenders (of the modern era) tend to have a walnut tube. Could well be a Fender that was made by Mexicans in Mexico... rather than the Fenders made in the US by Mexicans ;)
I haven't seen one of your videos posted for quite a long time. It's nice to see you and Georgie girl again! I always have enjoyed your restoration videos! It's nice to see you take the time to fix up these old guitars and give them a second life!
