@@Debbie-xz8zh I got them at Tractor Supply. We initially had a smaller pool and I put the mats directly on the grass which worked just fine. When we went to a larger pool we had to level the ground.
The rubber mats were ordered yesterday. I am a tidy yard person too and this idea just helped me solve my problem with a smooth service bottom. Cannot wait to get started on mine.
@@MrzRed_United09 they do not link together. They’re black, but they’re also rubber. They’re hot in the sun, but to me, didn’t seem any worse than the composite decking.
@@chillitize I didn’t have an issue with them expanding and contracting. I didn’t tape, but that’s probably one thing I would do. Once the pool is setup they aren’t budging, and with how heavy they are, they’re not easy to move, but that would ensure they stay together during setup.
Beautiful setup! Very esthetically pleasing. I can tell you have a bit of OCD like my husband and myself. Everything must be neat clean for us. We also have banana plants around our pool. 😊
Excellent idea. How has it held up? Id like to create a base for an intex pool that would be seasonal and taken down and stored. Could these mats be left in place over winter?
I just wanted to say that this is a great set up video! As a fellow Midwesterner I can appreciate why having such a solid foundation is important for the life and integrity of your pool I fully understand peoples comments saying that this is an expensive set up for a pool that only cost half of what the ground covering and set up cost, but they don’t understand how important it is to have a good base for their pool. Nice touch with the solar heater as well!

Thanks brother. I am doing the exact same pool this summer and want to do the stall mat thing. How many did you use? Is the base 20x20 or did you make it smaller?
Nice update! Are you interested in reviewing our 7-in-1 pool water monitor? It can test PH, CL, ORP, EC, TDS Temp and Salinity, etc! We're sure that you'll love it.
I love how you say you don’t wanna get too involved pouring a slab but you have a staircase deck there that is stunning Gorgeous pool they’re fun to decorate and make them your own
Great idea!!! Couple Questions: Does it get very hot in the summer? How much did they cost approximately? I'm seeing about $50 for a 4'x6'. I am definitely going to look into doing this, I think this will also help with my levelling that I have to do each year do to rain water washing away the dirt that I level.
Thank you! They do get somewhat hot, but I felt the composite deck actually got hotter. They are not cheap. I got them several years ago so not sure on current pricing.
I used 4x4 on each side of the pool, metal ground anchors hammer in the ground to hold the 4x4 up, treat lumber for top plate needed for the pool reel brackets ,may need angle supports on 4x4 to make them sturdier
Also can you elaborate a bit on the solar panels that you are using? How many degrees can the panels increase the pool temperature on average? What brand are they and were you pleased with them?
I liked them and I think they helped. I got them at my local pool supply store, not sure on the brand. Best bet would be to check with your local store for specific advice for your situation.
My concern would be how long are those rubber mats going to last? Outside 24/7 exposed to water, chemicals, sun and fluctuating temps with 4-seasons...those mats will probably start to break down after a few years. I don't think they are designed to be outdoors 24/7 with no roof over them.
Hi this looks amazing ❤is there an alternative for horstall mats 😭 and also my yard isnt leveled..were renting and cant do much...but we are allowed to put a pool..we have a rectangle one ...but the grass isnt leveled..can we just place the mats like that without leveling?
Hi, Thank you! I haven’t found a good alternative. I did put the mats directly on grass, but as far as if you need to level you’d need to consult the manual.
Sorry I don’t recall the size. You should be able to measure the post on your ladder. Or get a couple different sizes and return the ones you don’t need.
LoL it's an above ground pool take it out of the box setup fill with water and swim screw all the aggravation when pool fails throw the cheap thing out
We initially had a smaller pool and put the mats directly on the grass. When we went to a larger pool we needed to level the ground so sand was brought in.
@@backyardproblemsolver ok cool! I appreciate your response. Curious if you think sand adds to ants? My buddy has sand only and has a ton of ants but maybe having it under the mats makes no difference? I went a cheaper way this year with the harbor freight anti fatigue mats but I know that I need to do it the way you did once and for all. Only my second year so still in the trial and error phase. Btw I have shared your video with lots of friends and tell people yours is the best set up out there ! Great video and super helpful! It looks awesome!
