Became a mechanic when American hot rod was on. I hated these baby boomers. They were all like Boyd. Tantrums, throwing things. All I wanted to do was learn to work on Trucks and have a mentor. I was all alone for years. Any small things you would get fired. I hate the baby boomers who were in charge of shops. Us Gen X in our 40s run things now. Young apprentices are guided and helped. He made great products had great designs and great cars but couldn’t run a business. He should have stuck to designing cars and had someone who knew how to work with people and be a leader run his business. He a great trades man who lacked any and all people skills.
Many people; customers, business associates, employees likely even some ffriends and family think B.C. was a rude shrude man, a total dusche bag, a real asshole. I think boyd would have had a better business without dwayne has foreman he was such a bully and a horrible environment to be in. . Work with your employees and work together not against them thats what was boyds problem 8 week deadline instead of a 6 month deadline no wonder his employees left it was enough to kill you

I have been in the restoration business since the 70's. I knew a couple young designers very full of bitchen ideas that all were claimed to be Boyds creations. Boyd was a hustler money man not a designer builder kind of guy. In fact I was blessed by working on a couple of Boyds Roadsters. Both had blown motors. These were owned by older gentlemen and were definitely not abused or raced. I built 100 point show cars which is much more demanding than the so so stuff Boyds shop turned out. I watched Boyd purposely blow up a Mustang engine for the hell of it. Just red line it until it pukes a rod out the side of the block for the cameras. He was going with a crate motor like he usually does so I guess he thinks that's ok? That's disrespect for the car hobby as someone could have used that engine. He was an over glorified body and paint shop owner. He farmed most everything else out. Boyd and his ex wife were excellent at riding the employees asses to the point they walk out. *Boyd was a car salesman who happened to sell Hot Rods and wheels that young kids designed and built for him. Nothing more.* 20 years later I decided to stomach some of his shows and they confirm everything I have stated here. No fake news here!
The only thing Boyd was known for, is building vehicles almost entirely made of bondo. After 6 month's, all his "custom" vehicles would start cracking, flaking, and having chunks of bondo fall off. None of his "creations" would be on the stage of Barrett & Jackson auctions. But Foose on the other hand designed and restored vehicles very worthy of rolling on the Barrett & Jackson stage each and every time. Poor old Duane. Where's he gonna get a job where he can dehumanizing people at work, with the boss's blessing? Duane can't even get a job at the local car wash. He'd bitch about the water getting the soles of his Hillbilly boots getting wet. Welp, looks like Duane is going on welfare. He doesn't have Boyd to back him up anymore. Boyd is having fun dancing with the Devil though. Satan is loving it, sticking his HOT fork in Boyd's ass. Giving Boyd a constant dose of his medicine - the same treatment he gave his employees. Those people seen crying at Boyd's funeral were not tears of sorrow - they were tears of joy and happiness. They don't have to see or deal with Boyd anymore. Although you don't see the video of the funeral wake dinner, but all the people there were dancing the Irish Jig, the Polka band playing the "glad he's gone polka" and the "Dupa Yas is dead polka", and the people there loudly singing "happy day's are here again".
I know you’re supposed to have respect for the dead. But Boyd was an asshole. He treated his workers like shit he let that Dwayne prick runoff all the good workers. Am I sorry that he’s dead yes but do I still think he’s an asshole absolutely. You live by the sword you die by the sword I always say. And boy died by his sword that he lived by.
