Serious question, does the rod and reel really have anything to do with catching food fish? I would think that line and flies and technique is far more important than a rod and reel
New pro rods look great I own 4 of the current models and want to pick up the new ones I just need to talk to my tackle shop owner Also I have found these rods to be like a ugly stick tuff but less than half the weight of a gx2 and also nicer by a long shot caught a ton of striped bass on the 7 ft medium spinning rod
I was one of the very first TFO dealers in America. I promoted TFO to all my friends who had fly shops. TFO soon became the number one "value fly rod" in America. Ed Schroder, a living legend in the fly fishing Rep world, was repping Mangrove Products and got me to carry this new fly rod that was a reasonably priced 4-piece fly rod kit? Then that first one little rod turned into Rick Pope's Temple Fork Outfitters so I just went with them because I trusted old Ed. Turned out to be a good thing for all fly shops. Rick Pope really treated me well and Lefty Kreh was right beside him, getting TFO off to a great start. Now they make some amazing fly rods that are extremely popular today.
A lot of egoistic and delusional American nationalism in the comments is the main reason why i dont like USA as a country. How is Korean made rod worse? South Korea is a very advanced and civilised country with great technology and quality to their products. Instead of hating on "overseas made" you should focus on critisizing the horrible prices one have to pay in order to get murican made rod(+$1000) with the same quality as a $400-$500 korean made rod. For me its simple: if i stumble upon a great product and i like the price i dont give a flying f@$& about where its made. You should do the same
I own a 5’6” UL series 1 for small streams and the 8” Light 2 piece series 2. I absolutely love these rods, castability, sensitivity, strength and feel all great at a reasonable price point.
I own over a dozen TFO rods for most fishing situations...Have has several warranty claims and have always been amazed at the fast turn around...great product and company!
Both are fast-action rods that will work great for either scenario. If you plan on spending more time fishing freshwater, I would go with the 6wt LK Legacy with the fighting butt. It can also be used in saltwater as well.
If you want to learn do fish salt water, buy the rod you can afford. Do not let someone guilt you into thinking you will learn better on an expensive set up. When you learn what you are looking for in a rod then purchase a nicer one that will fit what you are looking for. Fish on your own budget. The most important thing is to get out and go fish.
Quick question can you use live bait on this rod ? If you can can I rig it like a Carolina rig style or I gotta use swim baits I’ got the 7’6 M on stand by I just wanna make the right decision
These rods are awesome for all of my Great Lakes fishing on Lake Ontario. Perch, pickerel, northern pike, walleye, large & smallmouth bass. I won't launch the boat without em
TFO needs to make an all black ultralight rod because that retro green is HORRENDOUS. Have the first panfish rod and it’s a gem but the color needs improvement. I know color isn’t the most important thing but the look of a rod is what catches your attention at first so it’s perfectly normal 😅
