Unbelievable the mental process to think is ok to bully someone who is already having a really tough time. Such a cruel society, is horrible. I'm so sorry you had to go through that as well as your challenges. You are beautiful 🤘🏽😘
Thank you for sharing this story! David Keck is dear to our hearts and a host on our true crime podcast, as well. We are so proud of him and now a fan of your show! Thank you again!
Hi! My son was diagnosed with TS. He 13 now and I’m noticing his tics are becoming more noticeable and louder. Kids haven’t called him out yet but I’m worried for him when the time comes. So I’m doing more research to help him and protect his mental health. I don’t think he’s fully aware of his tics and diagnosis. He’s never mentioned it yet but I know the time will come. Thank you for sharing this video.
thanks so much for tuning in and commenting. Seamus brings a lot of knowledge and insight to TS, and would be a great person for you to connect in with to support your son. He does a lot of great work in our community, particularly in schools.
Thank you for this episode. In the USA, we can’t get an easy genetics test; we have to see a doctor and a genetics therapist before we can get the results read due to the potential sensitive nature of the outcome. I wish it were easy here instead of the medical red tape.
thanks so much for the comment. I've chat with Chris and he mentioned he can support clients internationally. Best to reach him via his website: chrisbarneswellness.com.au/contact/ (let him know you heard of him through the podcast!)
I can't remember much of my school life, I was definitely very awkward but I don't know how self aware I was at that time. I was later diagnosed with ASD at age 31 which did make me rethink my own behaviors at school age. My past self seems sort of alien to me now in many ways as I look back as a much more self aware person. School is brutal for anyone who has social development issues because kids and teens especially can be very cruel and unaware of their own actions. Empathy is a skill that can take decades to learn and develop and requires some self awareness. It is actually shocking how many adults lack both self awareness and empathy 😅😑
I really resonate with this, and I think it perfectly explains many, many thousands of people's relationship with alcohol. And that is just it - everyone has a relationship with alcohol and one doesn't have to be a 'full blown' dependent on alcohol, to be influenced, effected and (perhaps) subconsciously reliant on alcohol. For example, if someone could not possibly conceive of a Friday evening without drinking - they are not dependent - but reliant and influenced by the consistency of availability and desire. Another fantastic podcast Simon and Sarah - thank you!
Thanks Simon - always appreciate your insights into drinking. Love how you put it from a relationship perspective - a relationship we develop over good and bad times, and the influence it has on our wellbeing and decision making.
Sorry for your loss .blessing to you and yours.everyone please support your children's hospitals we were in one for over a year of our son's life he lives today because of the dedication of nurses and Drs and all staff there ....
I gotta sober up man. Everyone I know is dying or in the hospital from it... I lost family and friends. I pray for everyone to get healthy and live a long life. ✨ I also need a drink haha
Simon - Thank you, thank you, thank you. You have delivered a raw, honest, upfront and candid account of your relationship with alcohol. I am so confident that this will resonate with many people, as it has with me. Amazing stuff mate...just amazing.
Thanks so much, appreciate the kind words. You have been a source of my inspiration, so keep up sharing your story as I am sure so many other blokes out there will take note
Appreciate the conversation Simon. Really valued sitting down and exploring some of those deeper (and darker) sides of my journey and in particular, the ways to come thru them
Great chat Gary - such inspiration to hear how despite hitting rock bottom, you were able to find strength to push through and now share your story to inspire others to share theirs.

G'day Simon. This episode really hit home for me on many topics. At 50, I feel the guilt of my choices of my younger years everyday but have come to understand why I made them. Lots to think about. Thanks.
Hi Rodney - thanks so much for the view and the comment. Also glad the episode resonated with you and gave you lots to think about. Despite the choices of the past, we can push forward with greater purpose. Ashton did a great job of highlighting the power of our mindset.
I like that. That’s a really great way to put it. That’s why we still engage in our destructive and unhealthy behaviors because on some level it is still doing something of value for us, be it distraction, immediate gratification, feeling good, etc. So then it is a matter of self introspection to figure out what things ARE of more value, or how to try and find that value in other more productive and healthier ways.
Gr8 video, m8!… Been following Mark’s journey… also… it is quite surprising the number of successful Qld er influencers on You Tube… Super Car Blondie (Alex), Currently Hannah (Hannah Price in Japan) and then Northern NSW… The Weedy Garden (David), Geoff Lawton(Permaculture), Flow Hives (Cedar Anderson), Daley’s Nursery…and Mindful Men… well done the Aussies… I think one of the pioneers war Don Burke of Burke’s Backyard… ancient history now! Cheers, Johno🍻🍻
I know what you mean. I'm legally blind and there are many times I've went out to eat with someone or went out somewhere social about wasn't using my cane I'll play a little game called let's see how long it takes them to figure it out...
We should go back to farming outside, without climate controls greenhouses. And only grow locally just enough to sustain the population there. But that's impossible because of the number of humans alive who are dependents on mass production.
