Wow, I always wondered what had happened with Woodmen's Circle even after passing it up from time to time when I would visit my relatives. I'm from Sherman and my biggest memory was when they had turned it into a haunted attraction during Halloween (back in the 1980s) I was in either 3rd or 4th grade (Wakefield Elem) at the time. I had gone with my Aunt and some of her friends and I just remember being so scared so I stayed outside. Then we ended up going around to the side of the house which was more scary and I just remember hearing a chainsaw and everybody took off running back toward the front...lol I laugh about it now because I'm way older. Kinda hate that they could not preserve or restore the building. There was so much history there. Thank you Andy for making this video!
As of 5-9-22 only a few walls of the far west building are still standing. Everything else has been demolished. I expect the last of the final building to be down by the end of the week.
This makes me wish I had the money to renovate the old place. Seeing so many once nice buildings in ruins or being torn down has always been a bit painful to see.
Great short documentary.. "Wealthy women would turned their entire wealth over to the Supreme Forest Woodmen Circle" WOW!!!! Sounds very lucrative for that group.....
It's sad to see such a grand building going to ruin. If there are any ghosts then they are there because it was a happy place to them when they was alive.
I just love it that you have an original person that spent time at the place. When I visit my brother next in Texas I'm going to see if we can find her and have her give us the tour and discussing her experiences.
