do you know if you're able to change midi channels directly on the controller? I'm trying to control multiple hardware synths that are all setup to different channels. Thanks for the video!
Bought a new one. Never dreamed it didn't have a speaker. NON less a HP jack. I'm completely floored. I know it's a cheap starter midi controller but this was a miss by Akai imo.
@@jaydubya2445 sounds like you may have gotten the one that's not the Play version. The regular ones are just MIDI controllers, but the Play version has a speaker and headphone jack
@@flundlip Ya I should've gotten the play. I had no idea. I just saw NEW and it was the mk3 so I said I dont want the mk2, lol. Now I'm returning it as we speak.
Actualy you can comit a scene where you can setup diferent variations of the banks, and trigger them one by one (manually after bar ends). The only limitation is in the effects, because you can apply them by bank and they are applied for the entire project. Is a fun toy that can make basic beats and can be used by anyone, without experience in music production (as me).
I'm sure you can map midi faders to do that in your DAW if you set it up that way, but not sure if there is a midi controller with that specific feature as a default setting.
Great video! Just wanted to know if I buy the MPK mini mk3 instead of the MPK play would I be able to get access to all the sounds that are installed onto the play via the AKAI software? cheers
I don't think so. But you will get access to a few virtual instruments and an Ableton Live Lite subscription that are bundled with the keyboard itself. But I'm not sure if it has the sounds available as standalone
I only got the tx6 to turn my tp7 into a tiny 12 track multitrack recorder. It’s really nice to use but I’ve about zero interest in all the other things it does.
"All features that u can dream of"... like working arpeggiator? Without glitches, bugs, that is truly musical? Nope, not here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-F2KvK69hRQM.htmlsi=9jBTmxJA3KR5v6Ha How u can miss that in this presentation?
The sounds are synthesized and not samples? I think you’re mistaking there. May be not multisampled but still, samples are used for the sounds (would be silly not to)
I already have a Roland SP 404 MK2 and Elektron Octatrack as my samplers so this new one is a hard pass until TE fixes the issues and poor quality with it! Not worth it.
I’ve used ableton for a long time over 12 years but it’s just more chill and easy work on iPad I use FL studio but the drums never sound good, Lofi and small and very digital sounding. Ableton drums I can make so realistic that my friends don’t know if it’s a real drummer or digital. Wish iPad had good drum sound options. I’ll buy any app but never will do a subscription
Great video. A bit more time reviewing the default layout for the buttons would have been helpful, but other than that this is solid. Seems like a good buy for a small starter controller.
WOOOOOOOW….. Your eyes……. That’s SO COOL EDIT: I’m completely mesmerized by the confusing but very cool feeling the two different colors are giving It’s like having 2 different faces with the same face or two different moods wtffff I even can’t describe it But that’s really really cool You should be used to have people staring at you completely fascinated that should be so weird for you…. If I had this feature I will use it SO MUCH at my advantage… 😆👍👍 Beautiful gift.
Of music production, of keyboards. There's a picture accompanying the title, so it refers to the keyboard, and in the video I talk about how having the sounds built in make it easier to get started for beginners. I think it's a decent title that's relevant to the video. But you're welcome to think the title is stupid
never ask for "a few surprises" filip! ;) i can imagine the looper can be useful for more organic ambient type stuff, but i'm disappointed you can't reverse the loop. and pitching should be (at least) in octaves, not percentages. te should've looked at some monome norns scripts for inspiration. andrew cs' 'wrms' for example is relatively simple but extremely useful and inspiring
I use Logic Pro on iPad. It works great, and it has an amazing built in tutorial. However my biggest gripe is IO connectivity to my outboard. I’d like to connect it to my 18i20 interface and MRCC midi interface. I must keep it on a dongle which is currently a 1x input 16x midi channel dongle interface. Editing in desktop mode is not very ergonomic and can become tiring (at least with my current setup; where I have a low keyboard tray my midi keyboard above that, with iPad behind midi keyboard), there are so many micro tasks that are done a lot faster with keyboard + mouse. I like to lounge or lay down with iPad, which is great for a more relaxed creative mood for editing. But you must disconnect outboard to do this. I would love for Apple to create a WiFi paired audio+midi+usb hub so that we can freely utilize free roaming with iPad while working on DAW. The app is not 100% stable. I’d have crashed it a few times / though it usually only crashed while stress testing it. Logic Pro for iPad is not capable of doing Orchestral type projects (80+ tracks with 50+gb of samples). It may crash if playing chords on 128th note arpeggios on one or more tracks. It may crash if using midi effects exceeds polyphonic limit. It may crash if using too many reverbs and effects. One thing I do appreciate is when it does crash, recovery takes less than a minute and it gives you an option to recover last saved or last back-up before crash. In mean time, I will stick with Mouse + Keyboard. And lastly is battery, I currently can’t charge AND dongle my iPad at same time so I’m looking for a solution to that. That’s my feedback so far
What do I want in a mixer: a synth, a sampler, a looper ... I don't think so. Extra FX: YES! OP-1 Field (synth, sampler), CM-15 (Mic), TX-6 (mixer + FX), TP-7 (recorder) and OB-4 (PA) The TX-6 is clearly loosing its focus concerning the Field line.
