I'm sorry I missed the special class. I gave my e-mail and signed on a couple times but have never received anything. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. If you have time maybe you could give me hints. Is that the way I know there is a class?
I agree, the new website isn't as easy to navigate as the old one. And there seem to be a few bugs still, sometimes it show that you have purchased a design, sonetimes not. Also, you can add designs to your basket more than once and the last thing I noticed was that if you get a free design and forget to select SVG, when you go back to the design, you then can't upgrade it? I can't wait for my free gift to arrive, I've still not heard anything about shipping, but I'm in the UK, so it may take a while.
I just started into this rabbit hole with the Cameo 4 last month, and got two of the Siser gifts. Then I go get a laser engraver for my birthday last week!
I just bought the new Silhouette Cameo 5 and it’s a big waste of money. It’s not user friendly, the auto blade sucks, and you have to try and pair the machine each time you turn it on. I have the Business Edition software and there are no free files included in the library. I own other cutting machines and have never experienced the headaches that I have with this brand. I actually bought the machine for the foil heat feature but since I have to pair each time I turn it on I decided to wait. I ordered a USB so I can actually use it. All the tutorials on RU-vid don’t really address these issues.
I signed up twice, accidentally the second time, to Creative Fabric in July and haven't received anything from Sieser yet. I'm now thinking I missed a step?
Thank you for your comments regarding the Silhouette Design Store website. I have found it more difficult to navigate and slow. I get frustrated and impatient. I have found using the search feature is my best option to look for things. They are losing sales opportunities because I don't peruse the site and make spontaneous purchases like I used to. I still have a credit balance and a few left-over reward points that I want/need to use, so I need to get more comfortable with the new site.
Hi Brenda, thank you for such a useful information! I am totally new to this hobby, and I have a Cameo 5. I am wondering if I should get a deep cut blade. I cut rhinestones flocks that I bought from China. They are stiff, and the glue at the bottom is sticky and oily (but easy to peel off from the surface and re-stick very well, which is good). The problem is that some part cuts perfectly and the debris were lifted by itself and some part were not cut at all, just the mark is visible. I noticed that the auto blade collects the debris inside the blade cap and I cleaned them. I believed that the glue stickiness and oiliness affects the cut performance for a long cut. I started to add pauses, and clean the blade. Sometimes, there is no debris inside the blade cover, but still; the cutting was not great. To tackle that, I cut them twice. The cut setting is Force 33, Speed 10, Passes 2, Blade 10. Thank you in advance for your advice. Greetings from Finland ♥
Cutting the flock twice is the best solution. I don't think you need the deep cut blade. If you try to cut deeper, you will end up slicing through your mat. Unfortunately, that material is just stubborn. Lol
I'm not a Silhouette expert, and I'm still learning, but I'm thinking if you put the rhinestones on a separate layer, lock the text layer so it doesn't move, it would be easier to select and manipulate the rhinestones. I think in most design software (Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) folks under use layers.
Thank you for these tips. Used Silhouette since the beginning and didn’t know about the panel mode. That will be a huge time saver! Also haven’t played with the project wizard. Is there anyway to change the wizard presets? I.e. set up the card template to be used for a 4.25 by 5.5? Again very helpful tips and appreciate your time. 😊
You want to set your line color on the design page. One set of lines to red, one to black. Then when you go to the Send Page, choose cut by line color. Both should show up.
Thank you! I have not used my curio 2 but 2-times. My simple regular cuts were off on the curio 2 on day 1, everyone was saying their curio cut regular cutting exact. This is very helpful…
I'm hosting a live class on etching tomorrow on Zoom. You can take a look if you're interested. silhouettesuccess.podia.com/etching-on-acrylic-with-the-silhouette-curio-2
@@silhouettesuccess sorry can’t attend your class, I know $20 isn’t much for most. My income is extremely low. I learn quite a bit via your videos, I really appreciate them
hi, I am having fits here trying to Print and cut. I am using svg files. I set up the files and print to my colour printer and then when I send to Cameo first I weld the lot and try and cut, thats how I was told to do it. Is this wrong?
I think it would be dependant on the thickness of the blank you are using, as the Cameo doesn't have the same auto height sensing capabilities. Although, I'd imagine anything up to 2mm or maybe 3mm would probably work, as you can cut materials up to that thickness.
