Let me know when they are ready for the Canadian Market. How does this lighting technology compare to modern lights. Are they going to be tested in a similar manner as the IIHS tests headlights?
@t4concepts
@t4concepts 3 года назад
These Quad Headlights are purely designed for VW buses ( known as Eurovans in the States ), no comparison can be made to modern vehicle lighting technology. They meet all UNECE vehicle regulations, far more stringent regulations than the US or even Canada. The units I use in my custom builds are Hella, made in Germany, rated at E1. As they're made to order, any units ( SAE or DOT approved ) are available. SAE ( Europe ) DOT ( US ) and I'm told that some states in the US allow SAE headlights, as they are far superior than the US versions. Like those in the video. Those in the video are actually Halogen and not LED or even Xenon! The whole point of the project is to demonstrate that Halogen lighting can be as effective as LED or HID, if done correctly. TURK

Hi Blake, I'm still at it my friend ; ) The prototyping stages have been very difficult, plus, I moved from the UK to France as well so that didn't help! I've already got a couple of customers in the US waiting on these, so DOT approved headlight units not an issue. You can find the entire project on the vwt4forum.co.uk All the best mate. TURK

What ever happened with these? I could use a pair in the states for our SIlver 2003 EV!

Does the master mold have to be metal. Can it be any other material?
@GateWay-ky6xq
@GateWay-ky6xq 5 лет назад
Says in the description that the plug ( mould ) is made of resin Buddy. The industry use aluminium plugs for thermoforming, but anything that will resist temperatures of about 120°C will work ............... so you could make moulds out of MDF if you like. The resin I use is 'Vac-Cast Epoxy resin' as it very stable. Hope that helps Buddy ; ) TURK

I know these videos are from a while back, but I can't seem to find anything on the internet. How has the production come along? Are these available to buy anywhere? Also, do you have any pictures of the finished lights? Thanks.

Hi mate, Are you sure you 'searched the Internet'!? ............. a quick search on Google for 'T4 Quad headlights' brought up literally hundreds of links! As a tip, use the Google image search and you'll see the quad headlights just about everywhere. You'll also see the entire project on the 'VWT4Forum' and on FaceBook. No one else makes a quad headlight system for the VW T4 so you can't confuse them with any other product. They're a custom made headlight system with an upgraded headlight wiring loom for maximum performance. In truth, I really should of deleted this video as it doesn't do justice to the quality and performance of the headlights. Recorded on an Iphone 4 in the middle of the night during the winter, resulted in a very bad quality video clip, but it was my very first recorded video clip and RU-vid upload. TURK

congratulations. Is that build from a kit? or buying parts base on the part list? The result looks very good.

Many thanks SH iHu ; ) It's a complete kit from 'Ooznest' in the UK my friend. After much research and pricing up various parts from just about everywhere on the Internet, I came to the conclusion that there's not a great deal difference in the final price once all the parts are acquired. The obvious advantage of buying everything in one place, is the after sales service. Should any parts be missing or faulty upon delivery, 'Ooznest' have a customer service that's second to none! I've added a link to my entire WorkBee CNC kit assembly ( and assessment ) on the 'OpenBuilds' website in my description, so if you're considering a WorkBee CNC I think you'll find it quite interesting. Bonjour. J ai cru comprendre que vous étiez Français en lisant la review que vous avez réalisé. Je souhaite moi aussi acheter une workbee mais je me pose beaucoup de questions. Serait il possible d en discuter par mail?

Many thanks Jeremy ; ) It's a great honour that you should comment on my thread or even look at it! Followed some of your woodworking videos in the past. You won't regret having bought the WorkBee, in my opinion probably the best starter CNC for the home workshop. If you need any more starter tips consider joining the 'OpenBuilds' forum community, I've got an entire DIY build thread on there, and the forum members are always glad to help out newbies. openbuilds.com/builds/workbee-cnc-build-my-honest-opinion-tips-and-help.6407/ TURK

Hi Graveur, For some reason I can't get links to work!? Have a look at 'Ooznest' latest update entitled 'Universal GCode Sender - What to know' ................ he shows the download link to UGS, just below it is the link for the 'Platform' version that I use in my demonstration. Hope that helps. TURK

Hi mate, just finish setting up my Workbee, sent some code down, and works a treat, can I ask how you’ve attached your spoil board?? Not fitted mine yet
@GateWay-ky6xq
@GateWay-ky6xq 6 лет назад
Hi Cameron, 'CamVec' .............. I recognise the logo ! : ) Well done on your WorkBee mate, great fun in'it ! For my spoiler board I used 9mm MDF, drilled 5mm holes for the 12mm long machine screws supplied, then drilled larger holes to except the screw heads, countersunk 50% through MDF and then screwed the M5 screws trough to the drop-in T-nuts in the top of the V-Slot extrusion. You can just see them on page 3 of my WorkBee build on the 'OpenBuilds Forum'. As my CNC machine is only 750mm x 750mm, I can get away with using a spoiler board of 9mm, as your WorkBee CNC is twice the size of mine you'll have to go much thicker ( maybe as much as 15mm ) other wise, in time the MDF will sag in the middle. TURK Jersey thanks Turk, excellent I've got a sheet of 18mm mdf here, and have plenty of extra screws and drop in's, so that my job for today, the instructions just kinda stop after you entered your $$ code into UGS and that's it, no mention of recommended spoil board options and how to fit. cheers mate! Appreciated! I'm kinda getting there, I can send simple text like you've done and assign a profile tool path to it and it works yippee! I was so chuffed. How you getting on with it?
@GateWay-ky6xq
@GateWay-ky6xq 6 лет назад
No worries Cameron ; ) Not had much time to do much more with the CNC, up to my eye-browse designing my quad headlight covers and making moulds. You'll be fine with the 18mm MDF, you may have to get some 22mm M5 screws from Ryan @ Ooznest though. Just answered your query on the 'OpenBuilds' forum, hope it helps mate, or at the very least point you in the right direction. TURK

Love the "Tap test" ..... Such a professional looking machine and the forming itself is so fast! Tight to the tool. VERY cool Turk. - Slimjim

Hi Jim, Many thanks for the kind comments my friend , very much appreciated. The 'Tap Test' also known as the 'Finger Nail' test, that I'm sure you already know is to test just how pliable the plastic sheet is, as your finger nail would leave as small indentation in the surface of the plastic when it's ready to be formed. This vacuum forming test also shows just how well the design of the tooling plug works ( self releasing ), forming plastics of 0.75mm and 1.0mm is pretty straight forward, but as you've clearly seen in the forum photos, things become very complicated when using materials such as 3mm ABS ! www.vwt4forum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=249064&page=279 Thanks TURK

Many thanks jim ; ) Still got a bit of jiggery pokery to do as I'm still suffering from the dreaded voltage drop. Low beams are currently running at around 12 volts, just over 14 volts should be achievable. Plus the inline diodes need to be installed in the circuit, That'll give me all four quads on at the same time. TURK
