Yes it looks red gloves was holding back. Maybe too much in my opinion (I’m not talking about power btw. He’s holding back a lot of movement as well) black gloves is indeed a beginner.
i have done BJJ for 2 years and its sad how much wrestling is neglected in it. luckily I just started training MMA as well and I found a wrestling club that is 100% free with some dogs, hopefully i'll be able to learn there
It is painfully neglected in the bjj community. There are so many parallels and so many things you can learn about positioning and control from wrestling. Also, not to mention different patterns of movement (head balancing, back bridging, etc)
@RealGunSlingers , If you made me wear a mask in your gym, I'd find a real gym that didn't kowtow to the government. I quit my job over it and started my own business. It's sad so many people fell for that BS.
You are 100% correct. He knows his limits and is being more playful here. If you wanna see him fight for real you will see him more being more discipline here’s a link ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5eplmlKZPK4.htmlsi=esEbQRE_V-_WD1EZ
@@RealGunSlingersthanks bro, do you have any advice about conditioning or basic advice before joining? I heard it's grueling so I want to be a bit prepared
gotta love that they just know basic wrestling and whitebelt bjj genetically. scary af considering the size and weapons they're born with. one of those bears doesn't know how to retain his guard on bottom as I've seen other bears do. soon he'll be darwined
This is actually a friend of mines house about a 5 minute drive away. Legend has it someone around his neighborhood feeds them and I think they are wrestling over food source.
I would say to you what my coach always said. You can take 1 step backwards, 2 is too many. After one step backwards you must cut the angle. So for instance you enter the range and throw a combo, then move off the center line to an angle and throw another combo. After this you can move straight back but you must always cut an angle after moving straight back.
This is a pretty cool analysis. I think part of my problem is overextending my legs. I also wonder where most of my weight should be (like for example 60% of my weight on my front foot or on my back foot.)
Definitely 60 on the back and 40 in the front. But depending on circumstances, you can change that (if you are baiting the head for a pull counter, you want your weight forward)
Why do black belts want to start on the ground? No fight ever in existence starts on the ground, and if you're bringing up the "93% of street fights end up on the ground" statistic, that's not for regular fights, just for law enforcement.
Unless you're training by having a group of people surprise attack you with real knives, you're compromising SOME realism for safety. He's just making more compromises by eliminating the dangers of stand-up grappling with a white belt. Everyone falls somewhere on the spectrum between safe and realistic.
I think it’s less about me being a white belt and more that he has zero wrestling/judo experience at all. So gi or no gi, he is better off sitting guard.
Also this is not a streetfight, I refuse to pull guard though. I see it as pointless, you can only get away with it in jiu jitzu and to be fair he is not one of the black belts who competes often. There are definitely levels to it.
Impressive transformation, combat sports strengthen both the body and the mind. I was once told by my MMA coach, the martial arts journey is not a race, its a marathon. When I was younger I did not live by these words. Started mine mid twenties, mma and kickboxing, have fractured four different ribs, broken toes, a midpart of the foot, permanent TMJ (aka clicky jaw 😅), countless bruises, probably forget some. Now I'm pushing forty and went from training hard to training smart! Enjoy your journey, the highs and the lows, Osu 👊
