i have done BJJ for 2 years and its sad how much wrestling is neglected in it. luckily I just started training MMA as well and I found a wrestling club that is 100% free with some dogs, hopefully i'll be able to learn there
It is painfully neglected in the bjj community. There are so many parallels and so many things you can learn about positioning and control from wrestling. Also, not to mention different patterns of movement (head balancing, back bridging, etc)
@@RealGunSlingersthanks bro, do you have any advice about conditioning or basic advice before joining? I heard it's grueling so I want to be a bit prepared
Was waiting for this video. Thanks. Can you break it down as far as your timelines, how many times a week etc. I’m 34 and just started at a wrestling club two month ago. 2x a week. The hardest part for me is the conditioning and stamina; I had cancer 3 years ago. By the time we get into rounds I am so spent, I just can’t get my wind. How long did it take you to get the conditioning down? Great video btw
It may take a while to get that wind brother, even I at 23 feel like puking after club practices. But I did wrestling 3x along with bjj 2-3 times per week for about 6 months at one point and my grappling became much more sharp as a whole from that. The conditioning also didn’t feel as harsh after learning to pace myself. I can definitely control my wind much better now. If you want to build that type of conditioning I would be going 3-4 times per week, although 2x is doable just do extra rounds whenever you can. Also congrats on beating cancer 💪🏼
