The plant I have has thin and small leaves!?? Why? Is the pot small? Or because of the cold? I live in the eastern countries of Iraq and the summer is hot and long, but these days the temperature is down low
Great video in every respect. I enjoyed the information and pictures as well. I just bought one from a local nursery that has 3 separate "clumps" of around a dozen stalks or individual stalks per clump. Judging from what I've seen in person and in other nursery the plant(s) look fairly young and due to the fairly large pot(about 16" diameter and at least a foot deep) it should have plenty of maturing to go and room for growth. Therefore, I won't have to worry about it being rootbound for a good while. I know I'll have to bring it inside during the winter, as we even here on the Louisiana coast get maybe a couple of freezes per winter, but they aren't hard(high 20's at the coldest, and even at that, only for a few hours in the middle of the night). Thanks again for the great information about this plant, as I didn't know its history.
i wonder....wud this cope with conditions in the uk where it can drop below 0° C....can any one say? i have about 20 that i planted at the start of summer and they have all sprouted and growing well.
Congratulations with getting Jacaranda to sprout and grow. I would recommend that you keep on potting up the plants as they grow larger. Perhaps when they grow up to at least a meter tall, plant a a couple out in the yard at the beginning of the next spring and see what happens. You will surely get more height and growth with regular watering and fertilizer. The following winter will be the real test to see how they handle much cooler conditions. I'm an optimist -- so there's nothing wrong with trying and experimenting with plants in areas where climate may be a challenge. Thanks for your question and good luck with your Jacaranda plants. May they develop into substantial trees someday.
mines seem to by dying! I don't know how to help it though, when i first got it i did repot it and have given it food, only feed it once a week, currently living in LA
they grow well there, maybe you have a dud plant? They also hate disturbance when you report or plant them they tend to sulk for ages then suddenly grow.
+Cathy Tra My Doan are they indoors if they are they need alot of light to flower they will grow in semi shade outside but will get less flowers and bigger leaves
This is a spectacular plant. I have one in my backyard and it's the focal point of the garden. It blooms often throughout the year and is pleasantly fragrant. And as the video suggests, the flowers are quite large and showy.
