Welcome to How I Do Things DIY LLC! I'm a maker, do it yourselfer and woodworker and I want to show you how to build things. You may save some money, but mostly you'll have fun doing it.
I have a small woodworking shop and I do a fair bit of woodworking along with a lot of home improvement. I like to throw in a little comedy every now and then. I make woodworking jigs, garage organizing stuff, small woodworking projects, big woodworking projects and build pretty much whatever my wife wants. Subscribe to my channel and let me know what YOU want me to build next!

Great video thanks for all your guidance. I too have 9 foot ceilings and am preparing to replicate this. Can you share which crown molding you used? Thanks!!
I use the same saw, and I really like the additions that you've made. The fence, and the infeed extension piece. Did you make videos on those additions? Subscribed.
Oh ya. I have videos of everything. Please head over to my channel and subscribe because this saw is a big part of my channel. I also have plans for most of it here: howidothingsdiy.com/plans
I’m in Canada, the building codes are probably different here but I was planning on using rigid foam board on the interior walls. What would be the issue if I find out that there’s no insulation on my exterior walls?
As @Uscwaller pointed out, that cross cut I made with that longer piece should have been done with a miter gauge, not up against the fence like I showed 1:10 . Once you have your crosscut sled done, you should used that for cuts like this. Thanks again for point that out. Safety first!
Yup. I definitely would have used my other cross cut sled but I felt like that would have been cheating, considering the content of this video. I definitely should have used the miter gauge. Thanks for pointing that out for everyone else!
@@HowIDoThingsDIY I really enjoy your videos (especially since I have the same saw and like seeing how you mod it). Thanks especially for addressing this crosscut as dodgy; I’m not one to safety-police but newbies should be aware of the potential danger. Great vid!
Is that fence at 90º to the table? I have gone to much more effort to get the angle right - and failed. I guess it is fine for cutting rabbets/rebates.
@@HowIDoThingsDIY Sadly, both! The fence isn't great, so I added screws at each end to allow shimming. It didn't work very well, and also needed adjustment every time I used it.
@@lafamillecarrington Ok. I typically set the blade parallel to the miter slots first and then set the fence parallel to the blade. Have you reached out to DeWalt to ask about you issues?
@@HowIDoThingsDIY No problem that way. It is the verticality (?) of the fence. I was trying to use the saw to rip some boards into thinner panels. Just about succeeded, but far from perfect. Also, not a DeWalt saw.
@@lafamillecarrington AH, so your fence isn't perpendicular to the table surface. I haven't actually checked that. I don't know if there is an adjustment for that or not. Best to make some sort of upgraded fence and then incorporate some sort of adjustment into it. I'll have to think about that.
I'm pretty sure it's a standard 3/4" miter slot. My hedgehog feather board fit in both my table saw and this. Why do you think you need to buy a miter gauge. I'm not sure what your trying to do.
from what i heard about this table, miter gauge is not included. i have a miter gauge and i am curious if this table fits my miter. ave been looking around google about the dimension of this table's miter railing and i can't find any. thank you for the info though. 🙏🏼
I have two reason why I don't have a jointer. #1. I don't have space for one. #2. I don't do this enough to justify it. I make my videos for people in my situation. I appreciate the comment!
Long shot since it is an older video but I need to put a wall on the side of it since my Laundry is part of a large nook. Think I could add the supports to the wall studs on the back and right side, then add a wall to the left with L brackets? I just don't know what wood to use for the left wall that would support that.
'extremely dangerous' on a table saw, when using that size of table saw ;) But this saw is a very good alternative. I have been using a variant of Festool (cable) for years. But looking at Makita LXT now, as I have more tools of that battery system. Buying more Festool is just too expensive.
They do as long as it's the "main panel". If it's a sub panel, they need to be be separated with the electrical box being grounded and the neutral being separated as it is curruent carrying.
I'm flattered, but I don't think RU-vid would allow me to "lose" my clothes. If you meant that my sleeves where too "loose' and could have gotten sucked into the blade, then 100% agree. I've learned so much since this video. Thanks for the comment! I'll try to wear less clothing in my next video. 😂
I was curious about how the Walabot compares to the electronic stud finder. I'm glad you showed it towards the end. I'm curious: Does it show studs, pipes, and wires all at once, or is there a toggle to change what you're looking for?
The electric stud finder works pretty good for finding studs. But the Walabot is very accurate at finding studs and can also find wires and plumbing, which is huge.
It will shows a stud or a wire/plumbing. It locks onto one thing at a time so it won't show them on the screen at the same time but its easy to mark the stud and then move over, lock on the wire and mark that.
Thanks for the great video! Floor company didn't seal the quarter round under the shower so we have water stains on the new floor, and it looked like I was just going to break it trying to remove so I could clean and caulk the area.
My wife and I built this bird house using your $2.99 pdf instructions. The instructions were fantastic and the bird house turned out great. Everyone loves it. Thank you very much for your exquisite instructions !
I messed up I’m just working for 2 days as Electrican . I completely forgot that you don’t splice the black & white cables . Only ground 😭. I got home and just realized just pigtail ground . I did it for every outlet and light box . Is it easy to fix when they come back and finish ? I left good amount of wire back
