Thanks for sharing. For the first stud, why did you come in 15 and 1/4 in from the end of the bottom plate? That's 16 on center would have a stud flush with the end of the bottom plate and then just mark 16 in in from the end of the bottom plate to indicate the nearest edge of the next stud.
Thanks for the comment! This is because I'm marking out the edge of the second stud not the center. The stud is 1 1/2" thick. If you add 3/4" to 15 1/4", you get 16" to the center of the stud, which is what you want. I hope this answered your questions adequately.
I saw another video where they built the wall on floor like you did but the bottom plate was furthest from the wall. They lifted the top of the wall up into position and tapped the bottom until level. They said it's a great way to avoid all those obstacles hanging lower than the floor joists. If you not done framing already it might be worth a try.
Isn’t a 16d nail to big for the top plate? The I joist and 2x4 are 1.5 inches each so 3 inches total. And the 16d is 3.25. Doesn’t the nail stick out of the I joist unless you nailed dead center into the webbing, I’m no expert by my understanding Is not the shoot from bottom into webbing. Great video i haven’t framed since helping my grandpa 20 years ago when i was 17 it was with old school 2x6. My house is I joist like your basement.
