S.M. 1995 CANADIAN ENGLISH translation was performed in Toronto Ontario , and the first translation was just very different. Because most Superheroes were obviously men, with most women as either sidekicks, or frail helpless victims like the classic "Damsel - in- Distress". BUT...SAILOR MOON BROKE THE MOLD!!!!! With the unusual combination of a young girl, and teenager in high school with very bad grades, but bullied by other students and teachers and parents for the bad grades. But she tries really hard to keep up her spirits. Which is exactly what makes her SO relatable with modern teens who are going through these exact same emotions when they start to grow up. BUT...SUDDENLY...Luna the cat finds her to tell her that she must suddenly fight the evil forces of the Negaverse. But she is totally untrained. And literally thrown into a fierce battle against a horribly ugly creature that is out to kill its victims. And also Kill her too!!!!! But, how else would this sweet, innocent child react, but to cry hysterically!!!!! Then just as the monster is about to strike her.....a mysterious hero arrives to save her. And now Luna tells her how to throw her Tiara to destroy that monster. And the Mysterious Hero gives her advice and encouragement to carry on. But since the battle occurred at late 🌙 night, naturally she is 😩 exhausted. And still goes to school. And promptly goes back to sleep. Even though she gets teased by her classmates, but it is still bullying. Then she has to fight yet more and more monsters!!! How will she ever survive all this pressure?? By reading comics and Manga, and playing video games, and eating more comfort food. But, the other TV heroes are the very best at 100%. Yet, Serena seems to be at the very end of the line. So, how do the Canadian writers, and voice actresses, try to translate this character who is so unique??
Dic is so lazy like a dic+k in the ending part. Why English version don't have the same song as a Japanese version for the ending? Man! American studio are lazy as a dic+k. Opening are really good though. I grew up watch Japanese version so I hear their Japanese song of Sailor Moon and also Who the hell is Sarena? Isn't her name Usagi?
The Real Things that make the Sailor Moon English opening theme so epic, is the Choreography of the many clips, and keep it in time to the 8 beat rhythm, because most of the clips are easily recognized from each episode. But some clips are from the non-translated episodes. Like near the start, when Serena is running to Darien against the background of the famous "STARRY NIGHT" by Vincent Van Gogh. But we in the U.S.A. didn't get that episode in syndication after 1995. Nor on the U.S.A. CABLE NETWORK. Nor on CARTOON NETWORK with blocks like TOONAMI, OR. RISING SUN AT LATE NIGHT But we had to wait nearly 19 years until 2014 for the VIZ version on Blue Ray. Then we got to see these lost episodes like, the Shaneera Pets. The Jazz piano player. The Fortune teller and Melvin. And the Sailor V back story in London. But it is fun to listen to those in Japanese, then try and imagine how the DIC cast members. And the new writers, might have translated, and put in dialogue with 1990s slang, and references. The Executive director was Mr. ANDY HEYWARD, who was also responsible for other hits like INSPECTOR GADGET. Plus DIC had a master storyteller in Mr. Fred Ladd, who is very famous for introducing ASTROBOY back in 1964 on N.B.C. during early black and white. Thus after 30 years. SAILORMOON was a striking change in Brilliant COLOR!!!!! God bless their 💕 hearts!! Sun., Sept. 12, 2021, A.D.
Gives me tingles hearing it to this day!! I can still remember how excited I felt every single I time I heard this song before a new episode of my favorite show. Waking up for school was a drag, but waking up at 6am for Sailor Moon!? Totally worth it!
This show and all three Dragon Ball shows are a huge part of my life and many others too. This is true anime at its finest I'm praying for it to return to television one day
Wow. Not to be a hater, but this is sooooo shitty compared to the original Japanese versions. Why would they butcher it so bad for the American audience?

I swear I haven't looked this anime up since it used to come on toonami in the late 90s but I still know the lyrics lol & still get chills! y'all younger kids don't kno nothing bout this! watching sailor moon at 3pm weekdays on toonami and (a show nobody seems to remember) then at 3:30, a show called "reboot" came on. then ALL NEW episodes (at least to the American public lol) of DBZ @ 4:00!! that was when CARTOON NETWORK WAS WORTH WATCHING! especially on Fridays! You got toonami playin the amines in the afternoon then later on, it's "CARTOON, CARTOON FRIDAYS" on Friday nights!!!!! #thosewerethedays
I think it's very romantic. The lyrics, the song, the stars and then Mamoru coming and Usagi hugging him 0w0 Hell, and I'm not even a romantic girl haha
Man this takes me back - I used to watch this all the time when it was on Fox Kids here in the UK. Dunno why, but the credits themselves makes me chuckle for a couple reasons - primarily for listing the people behind the Japanese score when it was replaced, and because DIC put their production copyright after their logo rather than before it.
That's true, though I thought it might have meant towards the original Japanese score. Kinda like when the credits for the 4Kids One Piece dub listed the original score composers for no real reason.
I remember the ending even more than the opening! xD So nostalgic.. And people say this song is cheesy but honestly it sounds pretty wicked cool and goosebump-inducing for its time. It sounds like just the perfect type of catchy song you'd call modern and cool back in the 90's or late 80's.
I don't care what anybody says. I still get goosebumps of excitement hearing this song just like I did when I used to watch it on Toonami back in the day.
My first introduction to the franchise (and so awesome music). Growing up, my watching Sailor Moon was extremely discouraged, and (without cable) I was only able to watch episodes sporadically and out of episodic order. I've been continuing to fill in the blanks since.
I'm so sick of hearing people say how much they hate this dub! What do you expect? It was the 90's! I personally love the dub, even though I know it's terrible. This show is one of the biggest reasons I am an anime fan today, and I look back with no regrets!
"It was the 90s." No... That's not an excuse for that horrible dub. Like every other country on this planet dubbed it with the original japanese scripts and used the original BGM. Don't get how the US always found a way to screw everything up.
