1932. You can really see the contempt in the crowd. The pure disinterest is palpable. Excellent dancing. It’s a shame he couldn’t receive more recognition for his work.

they are all rich snobs , so not much entertained them. the rich and snobby are not a good representation of the masses as a whole, even today.

@@viperdemonz-jenkinsantiblackness definitely defines the attitude of the masses in 1932. In fact, the pooeer5thw white, the more contempt he held for black people. No

Literally AL tap dancers were way better than Astaire and Rogers. US segregation, the joy's and talents' perpetual killer.

Does anyone know the name of the lady tap dancer in the ballet shoes? I've been trying to research her, and just watched "The Broadway Melody," which is what this clip is from, but I can't identify her name! Thank you to anyone who can help!!

I wonder how a 1930-style big show would do today with authentic, brassy orchestrations, gigantic backdrops and stagings, white-tie stylings, old sassy NYC accents, and semi-operatic use of the voice?

Why should anyone tap dance?
@madeleinegrayson8372
@madeleinegrayson8372 9 дней назад
Because it's a magnificent art form, it's dance and music in one.
@Shirvan-i5j
@Shirvan-i5j 9 дней назад
@madeleinegrayson8372 , well, that's YOUR OPINION. In my opinion, tap dance is slavish. Kissing up to your master. It's not an art form; it's just slavish.

The balance and coordination it took to stand on that top step and one leg too. That would have done me in. Right up there with the Nichols Brothers.
