Thanks for this. I grew up in Bury, in the nineteen seventies, eighties and nineties. I remember it being, mostly, a bit of a dead duck! Lots better, now, it seems. I think we had one cinema, on Hatter or Whiting Street, Rollerbury, the roller skating centre, by the railway station, on the hill, which I think closed down, one nightclub, near there, in a portacabin, called Reflex, another nightclub, by the Bury Free Press offices, called Vienna, I think, it kept changing, and all the pubs, ofcourse. I particularly remember The Grapes, Cupola House, The Nutshell, or Nuthouse, as we used to call it, The Macebearer, on the Nowton Housing Estate, near the West Suffolk Hospital, The Fox, The Dog and Partridge, The Spread Eagle, The Falcon, The Masons Arms, The Rose and Crown, near the YMCA, Batt House, on Out Westgate Street, The Ipswich Arms, near the railway station, The Linden Tree, The Bushel, The Green Gauge, on the Mildenhall Road Housing Estate, and The Elephant and Castle. They really seem to of revamped the town centre quite nicely. Lots more benches to sit on. I thought that the locals referred to The Apex, or Debenhams, as an egg, due to its shape. Anyway, thanks again. ✌️🥚👍

@@welovebse it's been about that long since I lived in suffolk, used to love playing in the boys brigade band as a kid. 1 sunday a month there would be a sunday service at the methodist church, it was mandatory for us lads to be there and the band members would do a march around garland street before the service and then again at the end

Hello my friend. I have been watching some of your videos and came across this one, may I ask when it was filmed? I grew up in Horringer and lived in Bury for over 10 years before moving away and I used to go back each summer to visit. I couldn't go back last year and it looks like this year will also be out of the question because I live in Asia. How are things in Bury now? Are people doing ok and keeping the town centre going? One last question if you don't mind, is the olde sweet shop opposite Marks and Spencer still open? If it is and you or one of the lovely people watching are walking by, please pop in and tell the shop owners that the family from Vietnam wish them well and look forward to seeing them again. I will stop now and go back to watching some more of your great videos, keep up the great work because I love Bury.St.Edmunds as well.

1:22 Yes, That's Madhur Beri @Tikatonic. Used to be a stud in our college days. Never thought he would turn into a fabulous chef. Visited him last year. Worked on that very same stall for a day. Not just coriander, he can also do a lot with other herbs as well ;).

Hi been watching a few of your videos now, and nice to see how passionate you are about your hometown. I am looking to potentially move to Bury St. Edmunds with my wife and 3 young children. As with most areas there are good parts to live and some not so good parts. Is there any areas you word recommend we avoid? And/or recommend any better areas? Thank you.

Have you walked through college square and looked at the rose garden and the memorial for Jaclyn Smythe who is behind the feoffment school and almshouses. Very pretty. Also where the BT building is going between college street and whiting street is the site of the old workhouse.
