The sport is one of the greatest because anything can happen within seconds. I wasn't even ranked and went all 3 rounds with a number one ranked wrestler in the State. I was just proud he didn't pin me.
Watching Taylor since high school all of us coaches wonder why he always shut down against Dake. Taylor was faster and much more technical. He just never wrestled Dake with the same intensity he wrestled everyone else with.
Saw a teammate in the state semifinals use the same pinning combination and refs called a defensive pin. Uproar in the team section. Kid was hyper emotional. One of the two worst situations I had to see a wrestler go through. Another was a teammate way ahead in the state semis get called for an illegal slam, his opponent get up to continue only to gave the opposing coach yell at him to get down, rush over and say his shoulder was too hurt to finish the match... but the shoulder was healed enough within about three hours to wrestle and win the state final by tech fall.
Is it just me, or does the title "Kid Dynamite wrestles the Magic Man" sound more like either a failed comic book from the 1970s or a gay porn video from the 1980s?
Wrestling success is rooted in vengeance. I’ve seen a lot of 3x state champs go on to be absolute nothings in college and kids who only won one or even none go on to be multiple time NCAA champs.
It seems like dake is just a bad matchup for Taylor. Their skill level now is damn near the same in my opinion. Taylor can just pour it on and dominate these matches with offense and cardio but dake is just barely better.
I don't think they're at the same level. Dake executes some greco/upper body throws along with leg attacks which keeps matches unpredictable, exciting and is true free-style in my opinion. Taylor just attacks the legs like most wrestler which is conservative and effective but boring and a closed up style of wrestling. More of a folk style safe wrestling.
Dylan Brown, I think they’re just his own color of his own Adidas Mat Wizards(not sure which version though). And he probably had them specifically made to be white and red this tourney to match the singlet I’m assuming. But they look just like the Adidas DT Mat Wizards to me. Maybe Mat Wizard 2 or 3 version being this was in 2016. Just a guess though. But they definitely look like Mat Wizards. I’m still rolling Aisic Agressor II, or old school Gables if I have the choice though lol! I’ve tried both, but nothing compares still to Aisics in my opinion. Much better grip, overall better fit(unless wider feet), and have always lasted much longer than anything Nike or Adidas. Crazy too, I still have a pair of Aisics with maybe one small tear, but nothing serious and well over 10+ years of Freestyle, High School, & Collegiate wrestling @ NC State done in them. A lot of which used during hard practices, even 2 full seasons in HS until I decided to get some others! I could still wear them to practice today as a Coach if I wanted. This was back when the Aisics weren’t outsourced to Vietnam probably. But still, I’ll take the Aisics just about any style(lol maybe even Mat Flex’s) over anything Nike! I know that much, those things suck out of China and they never last! I do like these Adidas May Wizards that DT is rocking here though!
Lol yes to keep it relevant to fans that don't like wrestling to begin with we should make wrestlers do other things aside from trying to win wrestling matches. Gtfoh. Wrestling isn't going anywhere and there is no "we".
I felt bad for him... Working that hard, getting to that point, and to have that finish... it was almost shock and disbelief. That young man still handled himself well after the loss, but I understand his disappointment.
This match just proves that Gable had very little competition. When you get down to it, there are very few really good wrestlers at heavyweight. Gable is very good for a heavyweight. He could win an Olympic Gold in his career, as he is very young, and seems to love the sport. Good luck to him, I'll be a fan of his.
