Hey Manuel, thanks for checking in out my videos! Yes I did paint them and I have a video series for the modification, paint, and final install of them. I should be uploading those all here in the next few weeks.
It could have been that the location of where the clip is held on the plastic flare was slightly damaged. I do recall them getting a bit damaged after being ripped off a couple times. Fortunately I do not run the factory flares any longer so it’s not an issue for me any longer!
Just the video, that I needed! I went through the Car Wash and apparently, one of my rear fender clips broke off, from my 2020 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon. I ordered my fender clip kit from Amazon, so I feel confident enough, to do the repair myself (female)😘🤙🏽🛻 Aloha 🌺🍍and Mahalo for this detailed and up close video 🐶🙌🏼💯
Hey Jadef6784, thanks for checking out my video and I am glad that you found it helpful! I have not checked to see if the clips are the same across the JK wrangler, JL wrangler, and JT gladiator but I am aware the attachment methods are similar. I hope the repair goes smooth for you! 🤙🏼
Hey there Patissondom, thanks for checking out my video. I would say it depends on your vehicle and if you plan to put it front or rear. If you have a vehicle with 4WD and it is in the non-drive axle, you will only notice clicking on tight turns on dry pavement, however if you put it on the drive axle you will notice handling changes. When shifted into 4WD is when the locker becomes active if in the non-drive axle and power is applied to the it. If you have an AWD then you will notice handling changes likely all the time depending on if you put it front or rear. I do not know the handling characteristics for a rear axle application but for mine in a 4WD and installed in the front axle, I saw no issues with it for my jeep when I daily drove it.
@@VictorVectorJKUhow’s the clicking noise ? I brought my jeep with a lunchbox locker installed already don’t know the brand it came with the jeep installed But it’s super noisy when turning I can hear it when the windows are rolled up How’s the noise with torq masters ? Is it noticeable on dry payment ?
@@josuemartinezmtz hey there josuemartinezmtz, thanks for checking out my video! When I was running this years ago I did notice the clicking but it was mild and not something that bothered me. I think with most lunchbox lockers it is critical to have them set up properly at installation or you could have failures or excessive noise.
Hey there Annmarie, thanks for checking out my video and I hope your install goes smooth today! I had not ever replaced it and ran without the boot over the slip portion of the driveline for a decent amount of time. I did upgrade both my driveshafts at later times to Adams which have been doing great for me.
@@VictorVectorJKU thanks for the quick reply! I can rest easy knowing I don’t have to keep searching for that part that seems to not exist 🤣. Adam’s is on my list too!
@annmariepinkerton3345 you are welcome, and yeah the slip boot is less important than the cv boots on either end of the driveshaft. Of course if you are in an area that corrosion is an issue you may start noticing issues sooner.
Hey there Brian, thanks for checking out my video! I trialed connecting both with power to the camera to see which one worked for me, I would suggest you do that same as I cannot recall which I used and your application may be different.
I know this is several years late but, thank you for the in-depth video. I have been looking for weeks at install videos for various lights and nobody ever states what gauge wire they use or fully films the process of assembling the harness, except for you. As someone who lacks any and all knowledge on this topic but is trying to learn, you have my thanks.
Hey there Juliang.5901 thanks for checking out my video! Of course, I think a number of creators do not want to provide too great of detail for the case of any failures happening based on any content shared. I hope that I detailed out in my video where I obtain details on gauge of wire to use based on length and amperage and what I made is truly for reference based on my specific application. Like you said it has been a couple years since I made this video and I do not recall the details I went into 😅
Hey there Tim, thanks for checking out my video! I purchased the adapter and a 12v outlet off Amazon. The following links should take you there. Please note I did have to modify the adapter to connect to this specific outlet. I believe I just needed to add blade terminals to it so it would connect to the harness. a.co/d/3i7V60O a.co/d/20CMlYr
Hey there Jesse, thanks for checking out my video! Honestly my time is a bit skewed since I was recording while swapping in the torq locker. Time would come down to the tools you have and experience. When I made my review video I think I was able to pull the carrier and torq locker and reinstall it all in a matter of 2-4 hours but my axle was not under the vehicle during that video.
Hey there Chris, thanks for checking out my video! Yeah that’s definitely another way to do it! And thank you, I try to share the little tips and tricks I come across!
Hey there Jack, thanks for checking out my video! I believe I pulled power from the accessory 12v plug in the dash since I had added a second 12v plug to that circuit. I know others have pulled from the reverse lights as well so you only power the camera when in reverse.
Hey there srsurfin77, unfortunately I do not know of the tool used to replace the plastic rivets between the inner liner and the outer flare. I think I used a set of plyers and a nail or something to install them.
If you have the pry bar put the rivet in and use the pry bar to hold it against the fender. At the same time use some wire cutters to pull the tip out. Keep pulling until it breaks or tight then cut off excess
Thanks for stone chips in my windshield trucks like yours, I have a truck myself tires are in the wheel well like there supposed to be that is way they have laws inconsiderate
Hey there srsurfin77, unfortunately I do not have a diagram or way to upload a photo and I no longer have the factory inner fender liner to show this. I found a detailed picture process that another Jeeper created. Check out the following link: wanderingtrail.com/Mechanical/FlareRemove/FlareRemove.html
I got less than a year out of a brand new set. Unless there is something seriously wrong with my Jeep (even though there is nothing wrong with the Goodrich Mud Terrains that I replaced them with now going on 3 years) then I'd have to say that they wear pretty poorly.
That is interesting, I think you are the first I have heard of this issue from. My tires were on my Jeep for just under 3 years and performing general tire maintenance including regular rotations and maintaining tire pressure mine still have much life left even sitting stacked in my garage.
I found it odd as well. They weren't totally ruined after a year, but they were really low on tread and they had horrible cupping. I will say that I should have rotated them a bit more often, but considering how short of a time I had them I can't imagine that was the primary issue.
Yeah hard to say, I’m not a tire pro by any means but the way I rotated every oils change, about 5k miles and maintaining about 32 psi worked well to keep my tread life solid.
My front door on my JK is leaking when i use the soft top anytime it rains. I cant figure out exactly what seal it is. But is coming from the front door/ corner of thr soft top and drains down the a pillar into the floor. It causes my carpet to smell mildewed quickly each time. Would these help stop the mildew smell? Im afraid it might leak under these and the bottom of these soak it up. Thanks!
Hey there Nick, thanks for checking out my video! So I have been concerned with exactly what you brought up. I have found the fit to be pretty tight between the floor system and kick panel trim so I haven’t noticed much water getting under but I am sure some does. Obviously doing an aggressive wash out can get a lot more water under them. I have not noticed any mildew smells from mine and I remain very happy with the product after more than 3 years!
I have the 35 12.5 r20 on my 2023 ram 1500. I read these larger tires will damage tge transmussion and rear differential. Any thioghts on that? The dealer had these on and a front level. They are smooth, quiet, and I don't need to put more money out to change new tires but need to if they'll damage the trans. Yep to beefy.
Hey there Semlohde1, thanks for checking out my video! So anytime you modify anything from stock the wear patterns and service intervals change for other components such as transmission, suspension, axles, and brakes to list a few. If you are concerned with that I would recommend you go back to the stock size listed on the door label. It is a choice and recognition that upgrades make.
My wifes JL has the option to turn on the backup camera while driving down the interstate. Is there an option with this radio to access the backup camera while not in reverse?
Hey Gary, thanks for checking out my video! For the JK, I have not found an option to turn it on unless you simulate reverse. I have also not really looked into it tho.
It is your understanding that their simulated beadlock rings won't hold up to trail use? I was hoping to run an internal beadlock with wheels that have a sacrificial rock ring. Perhaps DL's ring manufacture could make a set that will withstand trail use? I am trying to get double-beadlocks for cheaper than standard outer beadlocks.
Hey there JD, thanks for checking out my video! So the plastic did not seem extremely durable or capable of handling impacts. If the plastic ring breaks you could start to have the bolts grab on obstacles such as boulders or roots and cause damage to the threaded mounting holes for the bead lock ring. So for your intent of setting up a double bead lock I am curious what you are looking at for the internal ring to create the double bead lock? Typically with a double bead lock you need a wheel that separates at the center to accommodate this. The dirtylife wheels still have the traditional pneumatic styling so you could not use a conventional ring with this to make a double bead lock. I hope this information is helpful!
@@VictorVectorJKU oh I'm under no illusion that a plastic ring would hold up. It would have to be steel or alum. Search for coyote enterprises for a bladder type internal beadlock. These can be run on any wheel but I'd like to not thrash my wheels the first trip out. I wheel pretty hard. So being able to replace the rings when they are thrashed while protecting the wheel itself would be ideal. But I need it to be cheaper than a standard beadlock setup.
Ok I have heard of the bladder style offering, never heard anything on how they hold up though. And makes sense on the bead-lock ring to be used as a rash ring instead. I would just confirm the ability to run the bladder with the dirtylife wheels if there is anything that needs to be considered. I am curious, do you have issues currently with losing your inner bead on bead lock wheels currently? That is pretty uncommon issue unless you are running under 5 psi on rocks and such or possibly 0-2 psi and running in snow. You might find that a standard single (outer headlock) would suffice.
@@VictorVectorJKU I have never lost a bead in the 20 years I have wheeled with my champion beadlocks, but they are 15's with 35's. I want to go to 37's on 17's. The issue is that a beadlock wheel is so expensive. So the option to turn any wheel into a beadlock is appealing, but then I'd like to keep them nice, hence the rash ring. I may not have my cake and eat it too in this situation.
With that being the case, unless you see the need to run a double bead lock I would suggest the single. Also the Dirtylife wheels to replace the plastic ring with steel or aluminum will likely end up the same cost as a bead lock if not more. I would suggest finding something you like the appearance of and going that route. That’s my opinion though.
Hey there Jdawg2474, thanks for checking out my video! I don’t recall having spring bow with the 3.5” lift springs. I do know that I have it with my current 4.5” lift springs that are rock krawler but I have the wedges to correct that.
Thank you for your response. I am about to install the J venture 3.5inch lift with Clayton adjustable control arms and was just wondering if I should get the correction wedges or not. Haven't really seen any videos with JKS spring bow but figured it could still be a possibility. Maybe I'll just grab them anyway...better safe than sorry. But really enjoy your channel and love the way you take your time and explain things to your viewers. Wish you the best of luck and can't wait to see whats next with your build.
@jdawg2474 I think the wedges are pretty inexpensive and honestly I still haven’t installed them on my 4.5” lift springs. I don’t think there is a huge performance difference but definitely an esthetic improvement. I have not lost a coil through articulation before which would be my primary concern not running a wedge, but no issues yet!
Thanks for checking out my video Lifes2short4bs73! Yeah I know my videos can be a little slow 😅 I appreciate the feedback and I will definitely try to pick it up a bit and be focused on key details!
I’m impressed with Firestone I have a toolbox and a 450 lt tidy tank in my truck with that weight it likes to slide sideways in slop up hill but that’s at 50 psi
Hey there GrymmEvil, so I didn’t look much into the J-Krawl control arms for my upgrade. They would have cost about 1500 with tax and shipping and only have a flex joint on one end and a factory style bushing on the other. I wanted to go with Johnny joints on both ends of the control arms as well as upgrade my front and rear track bars and have those with Johnny joints as well. So that is ultimately why I went with core4x4 because of their cost and complete package deal!
Hey there Bernelnery, thanks for checking out my video! So the Reid Racing knuckles they are designed for over the knuckle drag link mount. Factory knuckles will require drilling and an insert to be installed.
There is an insert that is installed for the OTH conversion, a new insert could be installed from the underside to go back to under the knuckle if ever desired. This would also work for repairing a wobbled out taper on the knuckle as well
Smart. Ordered lifters and rockers today I had a Jeep tech come out into the lot and listen he said it was pretty sure to be a lifter tick on my 2012 but we also listened for exhaust leaks and I could hear a very faint phuttt phuttt.. the video that you made is brilliant
Hey there Tony, thanks for checking out my video and I am glad you found it valuable! The lifter tick is definitely a common issue with the 3.6l but hopefully you get it all fixed up!
Push as I might, I cannot get the rear flares back on. Just nothing to push against and no way to get a finger or tool into the gap to aid with pin alignment. Occasionally I manage to get a couple or three clips to snap in, but no way to get them all back in place.
Hey there Tom, thanks for checking out my video! So each of the clips can slide a bit inside the flare so ensuring alignment of each as you go to the body panel is key. If I recall correctly there are a few spots tougher than others because the form of the flare but they should pop in with the rigidity of the flare
Hey there Jordan, thanks for checking out my video! Yes a number of the other brands lunchbox lockers are made over seas and use lesser quality materials than the Torq Master Industries. This locker was a great upgrade for my JKU!
Hey there Grupo, thanks for checking out my video! That wire is used as a signal wire that needs to be hooked up to a reverse signal wire. I chose not to use this functionality.
So installed everything and once I put my jeep in reverse i get nothing on the screen. The jeep came with the Bluetooth activated already but not sure if they also activated the back up camera might this be my problem that I need to activate it or should the radio screen change a certain color to all black even doe it hasn’t been unlocked for the back up camera or is there another problem Thanks🙏🏽
So Bluetooth is not the functionality you need. You need to purchase an OBD Bluetooth reader and I recommend using the J-Scan app from your phone’s App Store. You will need to purchase a license for the VIN of your vehicle in the app. Then you need to enable the backup camera function at which time the screen will change and show the backup camera.
Thanks bro. Good how-to. Wiring the Mopar or Lasfit AUX switches is the same way, wire-to-wire as they don’t have a box like you. Otherwise, using ARB supplied switches and harness is unnecessarily complex, but not difficult to do.
Thanks for checking out my video Danny! And yeah I had all the supplies switches but after the recommendation of using the voswitch I realized that would be a much cleaner and simpler way to go! Glad to hear your setup was similar and smooth with the Lasfit Aux switches!
The torq locker does not impact driving in 2-wheel drive except for extremely tight turns on dry pavement. Unless you engage 4 wheel drive it will be very similar operation to an open differential. You will hear a clicking noise and occasionally a pop but this is normal operation of the auto locking feature. The vacuum disconnect being bypassed would not impact the function.
Keeping the bead of the tire down in the drop center of the wheel makes things 100x easier. I like to start with a knee on the sidewall at 6 o clock and then start working at 12 o clock. There will be a tire iron sized gap between the bead seat and bead of the tire as you start working your way around, grab the bead there with the iron and Bob’s yer uncle.
I have a question for you experts in the 4x4 sector! (and I would like to know if you can tell me if it is true that the ironman nitro gas shock absorbers go well with the original set-up and can be adapted with the +5? I have a Suzuki jimny 4x4 with m13a 1.3 l petrol engine with shock absorbers and standard settings, yesterday afternoon I picked up the new ironman nitro gas shock absorbers and the 4x4 spare parts dealer in Florence told me that these ironman nitro gas shock absorbers are ok for 4x4 off-road vehicles with stock trim or in a second you could put the springs higher and it becomes a +5 high trim is that true? Greetings from Florence Italy!)
Hey there Luca, I appreciate your checking out my video and your question! I unfortunately am not familiar with Ironman nitro shocks and also not familiar with the Suzuki Jimny. I unfortunately do not have any perspective to provide you.
Bro, what fenders are those? I'm looking at moving to Maine where my Jeep is evidently way over regulation for how much of my tires can be outside of the fenders and those look wide enough to save my ass.
Hey there Failuretoreport, thanks for checking out my video! And yeah this was when I was running the factory fender flares with the EZ Flares XL! Here is a link to the video where I installed them! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Z-JBLSJbXAI.htmlsi=aKoG-2G6XGkHOqSj

I am sorry I recently had a loss of a family member and I have not had time to allocate to social media. I appreciate the offer however it may be a significant amount of time before I create more RU-vid content.
Hey there jdawg2474, thanks for checking out my video! I in fact did not find it necessary in my case, I did not have interference with the driveline to exhaust except for extreme droop and only the boot would get deflected on the driveline slightly. I am drawing a blank but there was a later upgrade that if I had installed the exhaust spacer I would have needed to remove it. Also when you go to an aftermarket driveline the clearance is improved.
I would say it depends on your case, you will need to review your droop and if you have too much interference then you need to install it. But if you do not have interference then don’t install it.
I have the same 2017 JKU, same RBZ radio, and same Roadpower camera. I also have a JSCAN license for my jeep and Veepeak OBD. When I scan for my camera and check the box it comes up false (with either Roadpower supplied connector on the back of the head unit). I also tried the 9V battery test with both Roadpower connectors). What am I missing? How can I get the head unit to see the camera?
Hey there KP, thanks for checking out my video and let’s see if we can figure this out! 1) when you shift into reverse does the head unit go black and state a warning message to the effect of “check your surroundings”? 2) how are you supplying power to the camera? 3) did you verify both connectors to the back of the head unit to ensure the correct pin out is being used? Get back to me with these 3 questions and we will proceed to the next steps!
Nice install videos - great job! I think that I may be purchasing this floor system - my Jeep is soaked inside from a torrential downpour yesterday. I am curious, where would I purchase the christmas tree tool that you use in your install?
Hey Loria, thanks for checking out my video! And yeah it would definitely be a big improvement over the carpet! I bought a interior trim removal tool set that came with the metal tool for Christmas tree clip removal. Here is the link to the one I purchased off Amazon.
