Hello, my name is Java Jawa or Java. I stream gaming and make videos about gaming. For Business you can email me at javajawa98@gmail.com credit to ian-summers.deviantart.com/ for the icon.
Bare in mind that Paul Romero was not the only one who was responsible for making one of the most iconic music for H&M 3. (best game out of the whole bunch). Rob King and Steve Baca also contributed significantly to the game's music, and their work deserves recognition as well. Each of them brought their unique style to the game's soundtrack, which is part of why it has such a memorable and beloved musical score.
I used to play this back in the day. When they announced the servers were shutting down I logged in during the last hour. I met another guy running out the clock and we had a good conversation up until they pulled the plug. I always wonder what that guy is up to now
The problem is that arena shooters as a genre is outdated, because of the huge skill gap they have between new and veteran players, and nobody wants to dedicated thousands of hours JUST to be 1:1 against veteran players who has probably been playing since Day 1 lol. This is especially true with Quake and Quake-like games, like Diabotical. They're just not meant to survive this day. Closest there is is Team Fortress 2 with its arena style of play but even that game is struggling due to Valve abandoning it and leaving it in a horrible state they gave to it since Meet your Match 2016, Casual matchamaking is a horrible experience for how fundamentally broken it is. I still would have loved to see Unreal Tournament be finished on UE4 though, and another made for UE5. I love seeing generational leaps in a game franchise, but we lost the train now.
Yup, the arena shooter genre needs what counter strike 2 promised (even if it doesn't deliver) A premier ranking system that helps pair noobs with noobs, and keeps skilled players against each other, and a casual mode with say 3 ratings, low skill, medium skill, and high skill, hell, source 2 might actually be the best thing for this
@@PDJazzHands quake live kinda does that (they used to have player tiers but now only have elo based team balance I think). I'm still shocked how bad CS casual games are at lack of team balance (you can have rounds with 2 extra players on opposing team and it takes like another round for auto-balance to kick in, but no skill balance at all)
Isn't CS like that too though? Competitive players have huge skill gaps compared to casual. I find I can usually still do something against elite players in arena or kill them every so often, gang up on the, but in CS it's like playing against aimbot, instant death constantly. Arena shooters just give you so much more non-stop action and interesting physics, makes no sense they aren't popular except it's not a cool new thing..
Hello my friends. I wanted to address a couple of things that came up to me after posting this video. The first one is regarding wide screen patch. I have been told that it is possible that the widescreen patch can you get you banned from servers due to it showing up in game files as modified thus anti-cheat may hit you. I have also been told people have been using this for along time without issue. I did not have any issues on any of the servers I played on using widescreen patch. Use this at your own discretion. Secondly, for any one who had issues with the sound mixing I am sorry. I felt it was fine but I understand everyone has different tolerances to these things. I will be internalizing the feedback and adjusting the audio mixing for future videos. Thank you for being so kind and watching my videos. I will keep improving so everyone can hopefully enjoy what I make.
I still have my "Unreal Collection" on the shelf. I have been using GoG version of the UT2004 since it is the most recent patch and does not require you to input the key (it is installed automatically into the registry). The best thing is that you can "distribute" it on any LAN meeting without any hassle, 1 click install and just play. I can not remember any game that can do that in recent memory, no accounts, no progression, no tutorials, nothing, just set your keys and play with friends.
I'm at the same place. Still own a server, had to jumps through hoops to make it happen and let people joined. Now, I changed PC, and lost the damn DVDs. Tried to buy it online to no avail. This is so stupid. That game is great. I'm basically sating to Epic "Hey Epic, please take my money for a game I already bought, dont maintain it, just allow me to buy it online, please, take my money!" And they refuse.
An update would be cool. I've been a warhammer fan for 20 years. Read hundreds of books. This mmo was so fun. I love the private server community too. It's always a good time and everyone is game to fight.
your voice is like 3x quieter than the announcer who is screaming very loud so in the first few moments of the video im shifting the volume up and down, not just the announcer but the gameplay at 20 seconds is beyond loud in comparison to your quiet quiet voice. not only is this video very late but "unreal" is not unreal tournament and its affected equally. as the initiator of the entire series it would be like calling quake 1, quake 1 arena or just quake arena when referencing the entire series. so not only are you referring to a very specific title in the series for seemingly no reason but that title specifically makes you upset, according to the video title but within the video you correctly address the series by just saying "unreal" 3:23 - "especially one of the most important ones, if not THE most important one" proceeds to not name anything takes you around 4 minutes to even cite a specific unreal title that you will or are already talking about "wont run at upscaled resolution" there is no upscaling involved here, there is just the resolution the game is running at. upscaling is something else entirely here is a bing search for what upscaling means so you can learn about it www.bing.com/search?pc=MOZI&form=MOZLBR&q=upscaling+resolution+means you can also just freely search "upscaling resolution means" this is all to say I am just struggling to determine the point of this video. some people will take the few moments at the beginning of the video to say what their video is about. this one was entirely a mystery until the end when it is finally revealed the entire video is about UT2K4 almost exclusively and its mostly a guide to get you back in the seat which we all appreciate. if i didnt have to tear hair just to learn this information i would appreciate it more but its way after the fact and completely obfuscated. I welcome you to create an opinion piece along side this but the mergingn of information and unclear banter isn't working for me here. please use clearly defined terms about what you are talking about
What happened with the Unreal Tournament franchise is the dumbest thing in the whole gaming history. The franchise that made them famous, that was used for developing a better engine over the years that made them rich, was completely destroyed. I would understand if they just shut the servers and no longer maintained the game in any form, but completely removing it from stores on purpose, wiping out one of the most notable franchises in gaming history and treating it like it never existed is absolutely diabolical. EA and Ubisoft compared to Epic Games, are shining gems in that metter. From Epic Games to Epic Losers.
Haha it's like the first 5 seconds of the intro. It's extremely common in cinematography to have volume shifting for dramatic effect, especially for intros. The rest of the vid is well balanced, solid editing. But, you likely didn't make it far enough to see that part with the goldfish attention span that you display.
@@RatBagDad no idea what getting my senses attacked in the 1st minute has to do with goldfish attention span, but I'm sure you are a well adjusted individual, random angry comment person. Oh and I watched the video fully.. it was fine. That's all I can say about this inconsequential video.
Wow, thank you for sharing. I started researching this after your comment and this is quite a interesting service from back then. I will be looking to learn more.
RU-vid is definitely hiding other people's comments on this video, but yeah you're awesome for helping to spread awareness of gaming history and what the companies are doing to it. I have never tried making content like yours but I do stream retro games and I hope that I can do my part as well by spreading awareness of how fun old games are ! You're awesome and deserve 600k subs immediately for your content.
These old games don't have official servers, the only thing they provide is server discovery service and that could be a super cheap to host, the only reason they might remove them is lost source code and security issues.
I keep coming back to the game. Restarted a week ago and I am too playing it right now none stop instead of getting SM2. This mmo is special in a lot of good ways!
EQOA was a great game, especially considering the hardware the devs had to work with. For having absolutely ZERO hard drive space and patching to a memory card, having a game with a seamless open world 11 races and 14 classes is pretty impressive.
Played a brightwizard on orginal release shit was fun, but they had limited bgs at the time. Game died cause of lack of bg's the rvr stuff was hard to organise.
The Punisher, the og Battlefronts, Second Sight, Yu Yu Hakusho: Dark Tournament, Fable, SW Ep.III: Revenge of the Sith, Sonic Adventure 1&2, Age of Empires II... just a handful of from a mental list, so many wonderful, silly memories. In Second Sight i used to hide under the beds and flail chairs/objects around & at the guards just to toy with them haha.
Thank you for sharing and watching this older video. Making this video is actually what made me want to keep going because I enjoyed making it so much. I love Fable and ROTS. I play Fable at least once every year or other year and I play ROTS at least once a year.
I have blurry memories of playing this years back. If I'm going by the video, that 'select contestant' select screen with the cantina fellows is my favorite thing about the game. Also, yeah remixing the music was an odd choice on their part.
jesus it just OOZES character bit of a jarring difference but the flying saucer made me think of destroy all humans, as soon as i saw it. in another dimension this has a native pc port
