I have this same reel. I also have a problem with it. If I rotate the reel crank down the spool will move to the right slightly and cause the reel to become difficult to reel in. If I push the spool to the left it smooths out again.
*Used this today for first time **enjoyable.fishing** recommend caught four bass with it, it seems to be a solid reel so far. Very smooth and cast like a dream. I think its a good value.*
hey you see all that rust mine did that an i first cleaned it out an everything in it then put it back in box an sprayed WD40 all in the box alot i thought but i found out that alot was not real bad i dont mean to fill it up but just spray over it real well ok my friend
Im confused. I’m right handed and spinning reels usually have the handle on the left so I can have more torque pulling the rod in my right. With baitcasters I see right handed people like yourself reel with the right hand and hold rod with their left. Which baitcaster should I buy if I’m right-handed?
Go left handed since you're used to spinning reels. Its what I do, and it feels good not having to constantly transfer your rod from one side to another after every cast. Sometimes fish hit right as your cast hits the water, so avoiding the rod swap also keeps you ready for a bite at all times.
I lost a fish of a lifetime last year. I was useing this rig. I had 2 poles in the water and I was working on the 3rd when I heard a crash in the water. I turned around and 1 pole was gone. What ever it was hurled the rod out of the holder dragging it on the ground and thrugh high grass and weeds. It pulled the roots clean out of the ground and drugged it across some rocks before Geting in the water What ever it was it had to have been a fish of a lifetime. This happened at Kentucky lake land between the lakes. Everybody has a story about the one that got away. Anyone else has a story id really like to hear about it. I would just resort to setting up the 5600 to bypass the AB function, and turn it into a thumb rest. I don't need it to do what I can do myself. Does the on/off switch keep the anti -backlash from popping up during use? Especially when you plan on not using that feature. It would just be in my way. The reason I would get this one over the C3 model is because I like the Fast Cast release button. Which is what I have on my 5601 C4, and love it.
I have to and took the ab attachment off of one of them and placed a piece of toothpick in the slot of the other one to keep it from popping up. But I love them reels for catfishing.
I have yet to try this rig but will soon. I’m curious why you use a Palomar knot when using a circle hook? Every single other video I have watched people use a snell knot with the circle hooks.
I have a tw20 with same problem casting. I otdereda handle for a TW30L. Shaft on 30L is bigger and takes a little shimming to fit TW20 shaft but end of castin problem. I have 3 different TW's and love using them all.
Great video. I started using the santee Cooper rig about 4 years ago it's been my go to rig ever since. I have just as much success from the bank and private docks as I do from a boat if not more.
Just ordered a 6500 C-3 Catfish cheap on Amazon and looking to pair it with a 2 piece Tiger 7'M to have something fairly beefy behind the seat of my truck. Anyway how I found your video and curious if any of your Tigers are 2 piece? I've fished the 1pc. 7' MH Tigers and love them, BTW easy-peasy to add a clicker to the 5000/5500 (probably 4 series too). Clicker assy. itself isn't expensive but you have to Dremel the cut in the left sideplate. Easy to measure, no need for rocket science. Easiest with a donor reel or a clicker side plate or parts box find.
It's best if you do some experimenting with it. Most guys use lighter leader line so if they get hung up and break off. They will save most of their rig minus the hook. I don't get hung up much in my area so I use the same leader and main line with 30lbs Berkley big game..
Missouri Agitater whats the point of a leader if its the same as your mainline? I thought the idea of a leader was to be stronger to protect against debris, abuse & shock... I just wonder if using 15-20 mainline & 30lb leader is enough to horse in some big cats.
Thanks for the video but, I keep hearing people say those 3way swivels snap on some bigger size catfish.. Also IF I used this DRIFTING, What sinker would you recommend?
