*Used this today for first time **enjoyable.fishing** recommend caught four bass with it, it seems to be a solid reel so far. Very smooth and cast like a dream. I think its a good value.*
I have this same reel. I also have a problem with it. If I rotate the reel crank down the spool will move to the right slightly and cause the reel to become difficult to reel in. If I push the spool to the left it smooths out again.
would this reel be good for pier and bottom fishing I'm looking for a low cost reel that is durable but the drag on this is only 10 lbs so can you tell me if this is a good reel for these two things
charles cahill yes this reel was actually designed for peer fishing. Dont let the 10 pound drag fool you. It is a monster when you lock it down. I have broke 50lb braid with the drag locked down. Hope this helps. Tight lines.
Bought this reel last week at a garage sale but haven't used it yet. Was wondering, do you think it be a good reel for catfishing from the bank? Also how well does it cast out? Thanks
@@massagetherapyforinjuriesf8197 if you want to cast far get a squall 15 or an ambassador with no level wind but the 209 dose well with 30lb or 40lb mono and will get out good with a good rod. I had mine for a few years and usually have it on an old 10ft glowstick. I outcast all the normal people but this reel shines because it can go to hell and back and still work the same as it's first day. I've used mine for casting 2oz jigs to 6oz weights and half a fish as bate and it handles it all well with a little practice.
