Featuring the music of GRAMMY®-nominated composer/conductor Peter Boyer.
Boyer is one of the most frequently performed American orchestral composers of his generation, with over 600 performances of his works by more than 200 different orchestras-from the Hollywood Bowl to Carnegie Hall-and tens of thousands of broadcasts by classical radio stations around the United States and abroad. His many commissions include a fanfare for the inauguration of President Biden, and works for the Kennedy Center, Boston Pops, and Cincinnati Pops. His "Ellis Island: The Dream of America" was produced for PBS's "Great Performances."
Boyer is also active in the film and TV music industry, and has contributed orchestrations to more than 35 major film scores by Hollywood composers including James Newton Howard, Michael Giacchino, Thomas Newman, and James Horner. Boyer has composed music for The History Channel, the A&E Networks Production Music Library, and arranged music for the Academy Awards telecasts.
I'm always amazed that studio musicians can play like this with little or no rehearsal. If the concertmaster has a big solo, he might only have 5 minutes to practice it Thay always say you have to be a great sight reader to play in a soundtrack orchestra, due to the tight deadlines.
Listening to this piece of music makes me imagine walking along a graveled country road toward a beautiful but quaint farmhouse. The sky is blue, the sun is bright, the wind is lightly blowing the leaves of the trees, and there are lush, green fields of grass all around. All I can hear is the wind occasionally rustling some leaves and the sounds of insects and birds.
They’re the people who I’ve been dreaming to work with for a long period of time. The musical impact that resonates with this music is timeless!! It’s just moving in it’s own way!!
I've been listening to symphonic music of all periods since my teens. I am seventy years old and I just discovered your music yesterday. I am awe struck. I listened to the Adagio from the Symphony No. 1. It made me weep. Such gloriously beautiful music. Your orchestration is brilliant and so distinctive. Something entirely different and original. You are a genius. Isn't that what people send about Ravel when they first heard his orchestrations music? I'm now listening to everything of yours that I can find. Thank you, maestro!
I love this video. It’s wonderful to hear Peter describe his work and his influences with such specificity; to hear the warm, clearly genuine testimonials of the orchestra; to enjoy a privileged front-row seat at the recording; and above all, to hear this thrilling music.
What a beautiful (and beautifully made) celebration of a soul-stirring work. I was delighted to learn how many major performances it’s had in the last twenty years. Bravo Peter!
Wow! I can't help but imagine these adult musicians when they were still in their preteens and just beginning to learn how to play their instruments. Simply nostalgic. And awesome.
