Chris Baranet here. Max was my older brother. I am seeing this interview for the first time. It's very emotional for me to watch this. I feel joy and despair. I miss my brother very much. Unfortunately, my brother died without a will, so the 10 or 15 Max guitars he left behind were all stolen by my two Scientology sisters Tina and Michelle. RIP, big brother.
Chinees workers have become really competitive to americans and europeans, during the last decade. I have a chineese Iphone, a Tesla and a 12 string Harley Benton, and all three products are made in the highest quality, as if it was made by super skilled workers in Mainland Denmark. But at half the price. This is really disruption.
I bought a Chibson Les Paul and I've purchased real Gibson's over the years and I promise you that the guitar that I received for $170 absolutely blew the $2,800 Gibson Les Paul out of the water. This guy saying that the scale length is going to be wrong 😂 just made me laugh harder than I have in a very long time. If he wants to go there, then let's visit that statement... The Chibson's fret work was absolutely flawless where all 3 of my real Gibson Les Paul's had problems with fret levelling and intonation issues. I actually had to pull every single fret out of the Gibson that I have in my profile pic here and re-place all 22 frets, level the frets and then grind and polish the frets in order to get it to play and intonate as well as the Chibson.
It's not cheating at all. The pedal actually makes competition a little more fair for poor people who can't afford to spend thousands of dollars on marshall amps.
Wouldn't you know, they don't sell this pedal at the guitar center. No wonder the guitar center filed bankruptcy. This pedal is good, but I hope it's not overpriced.
it makes me sad that Ron was so upset that he had to play bass on Raw Power. BUT, I cannot imagine his guitar style on Raw Power being as good as the mighty James Williamson. bittersweet I guess
The world has just dropped for me this morning. I used to follow Mike in the very early days. I am so very sorry for your loss...I'm devastated so God knows how you all feel...my heart goes out to everyone who was touched by Mike's being.
The trade mark laws are there to protect the consumer not the manufacturer! You are only braking the law if you don't disclose that it is a fake, replica, reproduction or what ever you want to call it, and try selling it as an 'Authentic' Gibson. Same reason you can find manufacturers making and selling reproductions of Shelby Cobras. Because the customer is well aware they aren't making and selling original Shelby Cobras! Where the grey area comes up is, the people buying Chibsons from China online are almost all aware they are buying a Fake, however China is most assuredly trying to pass it off as 'Authentic'. And if you buy Chibson and then try to sell it to someone else as a real gibson you are most definitely braking the law.
The Hollies are every bit as good as the Beatles, and in many ways better. The Hollies have a better drummer, better harmonizing, and Allan Clarke is a better vocalist than any of the Beatles.
Let Gibson fight for its own intellectual property. It isn't my responsibility to protect any company. Buy what you like. If you want a real Gibson with less quality because it is authentic, so be it. If you find a replica that has higher quality, so be it. It just isn't my problem. I've done decades of research and know what I'm buying. How is this all that different than murphy lab relicing guitars to appear to have 50 years of road wear? In my mind , that is forging 50 years of time. Who is to say a serial number can't be forged and the guitar sold as a legit classic?
I believe that Eric Clapton has lead a controversial life style that has caused him lots of pain, he had a 3 year old daughter walk out of a window while staying at a 5 star hotel 4 stories up! He,s been into drugs and alcohol, so his creativity is or has always been at risk! So his 1976 racist comments are perhaps what lies beneath his tortured soul and is reflected in his life style from the 1970s to today! Our world is split along political lines, racial lines and religious lines! That said these differences have created a volatile world which is a direct result of continuous colonial behavior with historical consequences that western civilization will now have to face! Racism, is but one aspect, greed in the form of controlling the resources of so-called third world countries, is another aspect, alone with the wealth gap between rich and poor a decreasing middle class in America, Europe, Southeast Asia, Africa and the Middle East is another aspect! So it’s time to pay up! 😮😮😮 China is NOT going to stop! Remember in the 1890s European nations cut China up like a pizza pie, that was nearly 200 year ago and China didn’t recover from that era of her 3000 year old history until the 1980s! All that said Eric Clapton is like Donald J Trump only a reflection of Western society!
Harbor Freight Tools found a good alternative to selling Chinese copies of US patented tools. They rebranded them as Pittsburg tools. The Chinese should have called their guitars Pittsburg.
Goodness... I've gone from buying a B-stock Harley Benton Travel-E this morning, partly after finding Mike's review of it, through to... well, the full story. Earlier today I was fretting about the choice hell of buying a travel guitar and knowing how best to spend limited resources. But the most limited resource of all is... time. This is a powerful reminder. RIP Mike, and thanks Andy. I'm off to the greenhouse to celebrate new life and a bit of hope. But my new, smaller, guitar is to make life easier when I sing at care homes, sometimes going to individual rooms where there's not much room. There are many ways to leave this world, but few of them are elegant or pleasant. All the more reason to enjoy what we can, while we can. Thanks, Mike, for reminding me of what really matters.
It's totally legal to sell our Chibson Les Paul Tribute Guitars so long as you prepare a document that clearly states that the guitar is not a real Gibson but a replica. You and the buyer would sign the and date the document and both keep copies of the paperwork.
No offense... But out of morbid curiosity: Have purchased (6x) Ch(G)ibson + (1x) Ch(F)ender GTRs here in 2024. Amazed regarding the overall fit & finish of the instruments. Only one GTR was set-up properly (zero work required). The other units all required (4-6) hours of frustrating neck work (scraping fret boards + fret polishing + neck truss adjustments + fret leveling). That doesn't include eventual re-stringing with new D'Addarios + intonation, etc.... However, if you are able to perform this work, the rewards are surprisingly excellent. The key of success is neck work. Pick-ups are a matter of taste + your pre-amp/amp combinations, so not important in this discussion. Comment: I know so many players who swap perfectly high quality pick-ups on great Gibsons and Fenders, so that should not be a topic of concern for most all at this time... Haa - we have all been there...! Also - I do own my share of (6x) Gibsons and (5x) Fender products (and 4x Martins)..., so I believe I am able to pass down an honest commentary for your consideration. Thank you
