The Gretsch BroadKaster was a GUITAR. Same consumer target, same type of product. That could really lead to some mishaps when ordering. This case is the same as a guy named Ford making guitars and getting sued by the motor company.

@@velutumbra The Gretsch Broadkaster was the name of a drum set at that time. Also, the guy’s name isn’t Fender. A better metaphor would be me staring a truck company and naming it Mercedes Benz, and then acting surprised when I get sued just because Mercedes doesnt make trucks. He’s making a musical product and intentionally named his product something with the word Fender in it. Stupid decision, but he had the opportunity to change it when Fender contacted him and he chose not to.

@@dragoonphotography5847 Ok it was a druum set, but Gretsch was a guitar maker also. But Mercedes Benz does make trucks. That was not a good example. ALso, there was a car company called Bedford. Ford did not sue.

I think the story was that Gretsch sent Fender a letter (maybe a legal cease and desist or threatening legal action? I don't know) and Fender wrote back and said something like, "oh, sorry about that. Ok, we'll stop." And then Gretsch actually responded to that letter, thanking them and apologizing for the inconvenience.

I agree totally what you are saying I own a Jackson as well fender owns Jackson scratch and there's one or two more companies fender owns or distributes for you might as well say they own them that's why they got sued for overcharging those in the UK that's exactly what they get good for them I am sick of all these big corporations bullying folks too look at Gibson and what they're going through now because of the same thing fender play is garbage I signed up for a year and it only took me two days to figure out that it was I canceled the subscription and demanded my money back they're not worth it both Gibson and fender or have gotten really crappy and instead of concentrating on making a good product they're too busy with their hands and everything but ensuing anyone they can and getting away with it and it's not just guitar companies look at Rockstar games they're horrible too

@@kennethhoneycutt4513 yeah man, unfortunately it’s the new dominant business model. The pandemic forced a lot of people online to buy their stuff, EAPECIALLY overseas in AU and UK where the lockdowns were the worst. This incentivized the bigger companies that had the money to advertise into pushing monopolies. they started going after smaller companies and using platforms like Google, RU-vid, Facebook, Twitter etc. to basically snuff out the competition. I don’t mean just guitars either, I’m talking Amazon and other big companies. Since the media platforms control the narratives, they control visibility to customers, and the entire advertising world, the companies with the most money could silence smaller companies and take up all the visible space. If it wasn’t for independent people on RU-vid and Facebook, these smaller companies are oils t be able to afford a voice. Even though I’m not a huge fan of people shilling products and companies, I absolutely respect it and see the need for it. If it wasn’t for RU-vidrs exposing people to these brands, these smaller companies just wouldn’t survive. And as much as I hate to point it out, you can plainly see even RU-vid and Facebook be very biased against people who are independent, who do their thing without their help. I’m not sure how long things can sustain themselves how they are. It might take some time, but the larger companies are about to get a serious reality check. I think people are tired of being fed ads and having garbage shoved down their throats by big companies in media, music, entertainment, Hollywood… etc. If you take a second to actually pay attention, people are getting pissed, and they’ve had enough. 🤷‍♂️

​@@Chinaguitarsceptic Maybe. For me, I guess it would depend on what Fender is specifically requesting from Win-D-Fender. It's implied that they are asking for a name change, but we don't get any specifics (and it may not be prudent to share those given the legal situation). Fender could be asking for a bare-minimum remedy, but it doesn't sound like Win-D-Fender makes a whole lot of money to begin with (based on the fact that they don't pay their founders a salary) and it could be that even the smallest ask is a major burden for them. I'll say this as a general comment and not specific to this situation: given the problems with counterfeit products (something you know a thing or two about :D), I'm not really surprised that companies have seemingly gotten more aggressive with this sort of thing, even on marks or products that aren't attempting to be direct copies or seem related.
