Damn, congrats. Sometimes you just need to be lucky. Be at the right spot at the right time. But I'm curious :D How did you meet someone on the first day? Did you run into each other and then you just asked her out? Or have you been signed up on a dating app?
Christian さん、Please don’t let feet land on the place you take shoes off. Sole of your feet gets dirty. Because 土間(Doma), the down space is perceived as outside in Japan😉
Oh thats really interesting, maybe down the line I can work something in there. Two of my brothers used to be Muay Thai fighters so I love it. I’ve seen some gyms around though never thought it to be too big in Japan? Thanks for watching mate!🙋🏽♂️🇯🇵
Thanks legend! Appreciate you tuning in for the watch. Oh you used to live in Sendai? I’ve been there before. Cool city hey, really relaxed. In Sendai Station they have a cafe called Zunda Saryo that does Edamame thickshakes. They are so good that when I got back to Australia, I reached out to the company to try and franchise in Australia! Must try if you haven’t already 🙋🏽♂️🇯🇵
@@hangswithchristian Yeah lived there for a couple years. Moved back to the States 2 years ago, but we missed it too much that we are moving back, this time permanently. And oh yeah we've been there! Sendai is known for their Zunda! Never had it before Sendai.
That’s so great to hear, I bet you are pumped to be returning! Wish you the absolute best on your return legend. Grab a shake for me, need one right now!
Hey buddy! Great to hear from you as always 👍🏽 So glad to hear you enjoyed it - I was always curious how the classrooms run and how much Japanese you need to know hey! Hope Osaka is skipping the rain in Fukuoka at the moment - cheers legend 🙋🏽♂️🇯🇵
Thanks you both so much for being so supportive legends! But I’m the one that is fortunate enough to have such an amazing community here. Really appreciated! 👍🏽🇯🇵
What a wonderful video Christian. I am in Kobe right now. I appretiate your great positive energy. Keep sharing. By the way I plan to visit Fukuoka maybe in October. I will let you know. Peace bro! My name is Scott Bradley Ferguson by the way.
Hey Scott, Nothing makes me happier than to hear people enjoying the videos and getting something positive from them. That’s all I hope for! Mate, lucky boy, I love Kobe! I’ve been there a few times and always love the vibe of that city. Appreciate the support legend 🙋🏽♂️🇯🇵
Great video, and I looked up the 'Coke ON pay' logo that I saw on the vending machine, and realised that with such machines, I could pay via a card. So much easier for me, these days 😁 This certainly is very inspiring, as it's wanting me to go to Japan and make great content over there, too, as I've mentioned before. I've had a load of work hassles that's delayed me sorting a holiday out, but it's definitely on my to-do list, hopefully before the end of the year, but I know it's snowy season from around mid-Dec, so if it gets too late, I might have to leave it until the Spring. I like the communication aspect you mention, too. It's great if more people want to talk to someone who's not from there, especially since when you get to a certain age - and I'm just North of 50 - you can feel a bit invisible. However, while for a lot of my life I've been an introvert, the big 5-0 does make you want to get out there and talk to more people, because you get that feeling of: "I might die soon", so I need to get stuff done! 😬
Haha just remember, don’t use a card that will give you transaction fees each time you use it. You use the vending machines here so much so it would be easy to add up those fees! Ahh to be honest, I love the snowy Christmas season in Japan, it’s actually a really nice vibe so it definitely would not be at a loss coming around that time if you planned. Just chase that dream buddy! Nah, honestly, don’t let age hold you back. No one really cares how old you are, they are more focused on your vibe and how open you are and how you communicate. You’ll be sweet! Still wayy young. Think of it as facing your fears and challenging what feels difficult to you. We all never stop growing, so challenging yourself regularly can be really healthy for your mind and you will only gain from it legend 🙋🏽♂️🇯🇵
@@hangswithchristian Thanks for the tips re: the fees. Just had a quick look into that, and my bank charges 3% plus 50p each time, which would double anything from a vending machine. I've sent my bank a DM, but most likely, I'll get a ton of notes and coins from the UK before setting off, in that case 😬 Aye, the age thing is certainly making me want to speak to more people. Since my parents passed away in 2015 and 2021, respectively, there's a need to want to make new connections. There's also always something more to learn each day, and that's how we keep the grey matter ticking over. 😃 And for snow, maybe I'd do the snowy season for a subsequent trip, rather than the first 😬
Oh if you haven’t already my number one tip for money in Japan or anywhere travelling in getting a Wise Card. By far the best rates and solution for foreign currencies. Easy to use app, get a physical card and digital card. Its what I use everyday. No fees when using in Japan if you have money converted to Yen on it. You’ll be absolutely fine, just go out and enjoy your time. That’s all we can do every day right! Looking forward to hearing how you get on mate 🙋🏽♂️🇯🇵
Aw that’s so kind of you to say mate I really appreciate that feedback and thanks so much for tuning in! I love hearing that people enjoy watching the videos. I hadn’t heard of your city before so I googled it. That skywalk there looks incredible, I NEED TO VISIT! Wow! Have you done it? 🙋🏽♂️
@@hangswithchristian yeah I did! If you are into nature break, Izu Peninsula in general is a good destination for that. There are many places around my town to explore besides that skywalk
Hey John! Mate, I really appreciate the question! I had so much fun chatting to these students - it was super interesting to hear how universities work and more surprising to hear how much English is used in the classrooms right! Always love hearing from you buddy, hope you’re well! 🙋🏽♂️🇯🇵
Haha thanks buddy, I could do these everyday hey. Nothing makes me happier than chatting to new people and hearing about their lives! Appreciate that support as always legend and I hope you’re well 🙋🏽♂️🇯🇵
Haha my dude! The prices are well affordable here and that also translates into buying properties beachside! Do the move my friend. I need you here! Haha The adventures we could get up to….epic! 🙋🏽♂️🇯🇵
I love so much that I have so many people watching from Colorado! I have a school friend from there and she loves hearing that. It’s definitely somewhere I want to take a visit one day. Thanks so much for watching and I’m so glad that you enjoyed it legend! 🇯🇵🙋🏽♂️
Hey buddy - thanks so much, I love interviewing people and hearing about their lives here, I find it really fascinating! Hopefully, I can do more interesting ones in the future - appreciated legend 🙋🏽♂️🇯🇵
Hey mate! Thanks so much for watching and for your positive feedback. I’m actually currently in Brisbane. The weather is so nice here at the moment so I bet it is even better on the Gold Coast! Appreciate the support legend 🙋🏽♂️🇯🇵
Hi Chris, Thank you for your reply I appreciated. So you're in Australia right now? I would like to meet you if that's alright? I'm a girl Mate 😊. Have an epic day in Brisbane Christ 😎
Another great video, Christian-very insightful interview with three foreign students studying in Japan. Compare their monthly rental costs with those in any city in Australia, and I know where I’d rather be. Even setting aside rental costs, having spent a considerable amount of time in Japan, I’d choose Japan hands down. It would be interesting to know what work, if any, they do in Japan to supplement their stay. Not to be nosy, but I’m just genuinely curious about what work foreign students do in Japan. Many, of course, work in convenience stores, but I’m sure there are many other jobs they do. Again, another great video, mate.
Hi legend, it’s really great to hear from you again as always! I’m glad you enjoyed it. I had so much fun chatting to them and it was really interesting hearing how universities work in Japan as a foreigner. I’ve always been curious so I reached out to them and they were so kind to lend me their time. And 100% you are right on the cost of living in comparison. I just got back from Sydney yesterday and I had already forgotten about how much it costs there. It’s so wild, people are struggling to pay bills! Yeah, I actually did have a question in there about what they do for work though I didn’t end up asking as most of them I found out were on scholarships and weren’t working. I really want to do a video on different jobs outside of English teaching in Japan. What career paths foreigners who have little to know Japanese can take if they are coming here to study or work, you know? Thanks again for watching buddy 🙋🏽♂️🇯🇵
Hey legend - Glad you enjoyed it. I was so surprised about how much English was in the classroom hey! Thanks so much for the question, really appreciate the input bud 🙋🏽♂️🇯🇵
Hey Rockstar, what was the intention of learning the language? Did you plan on being an interpreter ? It's not an easy language, nor written as well .Well, there is my second question, too, which are you best at talking or reading the language?
Hey buddy - I’ve just always wanted to know another language and years back I fell in love with Japan. So it was only natural that I’d love to further my communication when meeting people in Japan. I’d definitely say my speaking is better though. I’m purely trying to study just vocabulary right now! Are you studying yourself?
@hangswithchristian unfortunately no, but like yourself, I like the Japanese culture, and I would love to visit , I could picture myself living there, more in the mountains, but I definitely would need an like to speak the language.,no better way of showing respect , by being able to communicate with the people.
Absolutely mate, I couldn’t agree more with that last statement! And most definitely you would need to know Japanese if you were to be based in the countryside. Plus, it’s just a really fun journey learning any new language I think. Japanese by far is not the easiest but it is really fun learning something that is vastly different from English! If you did want to learn, there is an audiobook by a guy named Paul Noble on Audible. Really great Japanese lessons that are easy to follow along and gives you an amazing grounding for Japanese I found when I was starting!
Thanks legend - really appreciate that support! Where about in Japan are you based and what do you do here? I’m always interested in understanding what others are doing in Japan🙋🏽♂️🇯🇵
Hey legend! Thanks so much for the sub, really appreciate it buddy. Alot has changed since this video actually haha I’ve gone on to leave language school (there a recent video on the channel about it and why) but I was going to GenkiJacs in Fukuoka. Really great school! Are you looking at going to school here?🙋🏽♂️🇯🇵
Ahh that’s fair hey - all good options. From what I have had experience in so far is, the further down in Japan you go, the less tourist heavy and more options to practice Japanese. Also, it’s alot cheaper in Fukuoka to live so your time in Japan can be spent more free to go out and do experiences because you have more money. Food for thought! Either way - exciting future ahead for you legend 🙋🏽♂️🇯🇵
Awesome video, man! I love your openness! I am currently on a month long trip, and the thought of staying here has crossed my mind, hahaha. Keep the content up man!
Thanks mate! Appreciate you tuning in 🙋🏽♂️ Wow a month is a long trip! I bet you are having a blast hey. Travelling around everywhere? I actually came to Japan on a 3 month trip and that was when I decided to make the plan to move there. Maybe you’ll be on a similar journey!
the way u described u and your son communicating in different ways brought a big smile to my face man, love to hear that everything is going great for you legend!
@@hangswithchristian for sure mate! going to see some school options in the kansai area and hanging out with friends ive made along my previous travels :) really excited for that!
Best of luck on your trip, you must be so hyped to start planning what sounds like a move to Japan? Always start at the conbini though haha never a bad start there!
Hi Christian, Another thing i've noticed being married to a Japanese woman myself is that there family really care and do there utmost to make you feel comfortable and they have so much omotonashi which is so uncommon being born and raised in New Zealand
Hey mate - thanks for tuning in! Yeah I couldn’t agree more. My wife’s family look after me so well. They are so kind hearted that right from the beginning, I felt accepted as part of the family. I’m so fortunate to have such a supportive environment in Japan!
Hey Christian, enjoy the vids mate. Looking to spend 4 months in japan with my family end of 2025 I want kids to experience life in a different country and I have spent a bit of time in japan and love japan !!!, food, culture, snow, architecture etc etc. My kids are 8 and 10 and we are into surfing, snowboarding and camping. We are looking spend 2 month on the coast and 2 months in the mountains where would suggest is good starting point to research, so far we are researching Miyazaki and Hakuba. We live Byron area so looking semi rural similar, actually what is the Japanese Byron ? Thanks 🌊
Hey Richard! Thanks so much for watching, glad to hear you are enjoying them mate. Your upcoming plan to spend an extended period of time in Japan sounds like such a fantastic idea. Particularly for the kids also and open their minds up to a culture that is vastly different to Australia. It’s be an unforgettable experience for them! I also like that you want to mix it up and split your time between two different areas. Honestly, I moved to Kyushu to be close by the beach but haven’t yet started travelling much around it. I think you nailed it with Miyazaki though. Since you are down that way, you should look into visiting Amami Oshima. High on my list! Kamakura beach also gets high reviews for beach and surf culture. What time of the year are you looking at visiting?
@@hangswithchristian mate really appreciate the reply thanks buddy. Thinking October, November, December, January. Thanks for the suggestions also. I'm not really hunting wave to hard mainly for kids unless i score a typhoon swell but maybe to late in the season. I've been to Japan about 12 times mainly to snowboard and even worked as lifeguard in Chiba in the late 80,s 😂that was wacky experience !!! my mate and i surfed a really good river mouth in Chida 8-10 foot only 2 out and whole joint came to watch us and the police told us off for going out there. 😂😂 Cant wait for my kids to experience Japanese life !! and I cant wait for the food and snow !! 🍱🏂
You are planning to go at my favourite time of the year hey. Autumn rolling into winter which brings you into Christmas time with all the illumination in Japan. It’s such a nice time to be in Japan in my opinion! But it should like you are super familiar with Japan as a whole but now you get to take the family through it. They will LOVE IT! Best of luck on that journey hey, sounds like so much fun waiting for you buddy 🙋🏽♂️🇯🇵
Hey Christian, I'm from the U.S. and live in California 🤙 Loved the informative video again! Hopefully I can try to come up with a good question for the next AMA 😆
Hey legend! That’s awesome from Cali, been ages since I was back there. Where abouts? Appreciate the feedback buddy and defs keep an eye out for the next one for sure. Trying to do them every 6 months at least I’m thinking 🙋🏽♂️🇯🇵
