I quit my job in Sydney and moved to Japan. After selling everything I own, I packed the rest up into a couple suitcases and started this new journey in Japan. This has been a decade long dream and now I'm finally living it!

G’day! I am a Spaniard living in Seoul. Out of all the places I have seen in Japan, I like Kyushu Island, and Fukuoka Prefecture, the most. Fukuoka city is just “perfect”. If I ever leave Korea (I really love it here), I would try to move there. 😊 No matter how many times I visit or how long I stay there, I can never get enough of that city. I am sure you will have the time of your life there. Thanks for sharing this journey with us. P.S. You’ve got a new subscriber. 🤭

@@beot-kkot G’day Mr Spaniard! 🙋🏽‍♂️ Absolutely appreciate the sub mate! Oh Seoul I’ve heard amazing things about. I have some Korean friends I’ve met here living there that have invited me over. Can’t wait to explore that place, you must love it. And as for Fukuoka, what can I say, you spoke my words haha it’s definitely a hidden gem that I see growing in popularity with the years to come. Look forward to hearing from you again. Thanks again legend!

@@hangswithchristian Hahaha. Thanks for the reply. I’m sure you’ll love Seoul and Korea. There are many gorgeous places here. Kyushu is a hidden gem and Fukuoka is too good to be true. I will soon take advantage of Japan being cheaper, for once, and get my Fukuoka fix. Not that it makes a HUGE difference for my Korean won, but I’ll take any ‘discount’. 😂 You, on the other hand, got the deal of the century, my friend. I only hope that Fukuoka never turns into a destination overcrowded with tourists, like Kyoto. This is my happy place and I would like to keep it that way. 😅 I wish you much success with the channel…Take good care of yourself, Ms. Spaniard.🤭

@@hangswithchristian thank you! I did not travel to Japan as much as you did prior to moving here, in fact the first and only time I traveld here was 1,5 years ago. Just shortly after the borders of Japan were open again. Worked hard to get here. Saved money and made the descision for it 6 months ago. I also made some Japanese friends, back in germany already. I participated in a german-japanese language exchange program. That 2 Week Journey started at the 4th of march. Made in these 2 weeks 8 good friends, then moved here on the 28th of march. Its been really great since the exchange program. I stepped really hard out of my comfort zone and it was totally worth it. Flying on cloud 9 basically. Part of me would love to move to Japan, although I'm still trying to work it all out. I'm just a shade over 50, so wouldn't be able to do the student visa option 😉 However, I've seen another RU-vidr around my age doing the same thing, so it's possible. I've also reached a point in my life where maybe it's time for a change. Financially, it could work as I could sell my house, although whether I could get a Visa for being self-employed is another matter (I have a website, but I'd need to make that more viable, financially, in the long term). So much to think about. I'll catch up on your other videos, too. I'm planning a holiday to Japan later in the year, although I'd be staying in Tokyo, and it'll be good to get an idea of everything. However, that huge beach in your town looks incredible. I'm near Manchester in the UK, and we'd never have anything like that. Too much of it still looks like the BBC drama Life on Mars, set in the '70s 😁 I've subscribed in the meantime, too 😃
@hangswithchristian
@hangswithchristian 13 дней назад
Okay so I pulled out the computer to reply to this because I wanted to give it the proper attention! Can I ask why you wouldn't be able to get a student visa? Because there isn't an age limit and I can tell you I have two guys from Hong Kong in my class that are in their mid 50's if that helps. It is absolutely possible! You can look into other visa's though it does get alot more time consuming and complicated. Making an appointment with an immigration specialist online or in person would be a route I would look into. The internet can give so many different answers! And absolutely, I would start small. Come here on a holiday first and try not to just visit the major cities like Tokyo and Osaka but the countryside to understand the true Japan. It really give you perspective into the way of life here. It's truely beautiful and the people can be so warm and welcoming. But coming here first will give you an indication to whether this is also the right place for you! Mate - I wish you the absolute best in what seems like a big life change soon and know that anything is possible with the right plan and actioning. You only live once so make the most of every moment! Appreciate the support buddy 🙋🏽‍♂️🇯🇵

@@hangswithchristian I was sort-of joking, since my student days, per se, are long done, but I'll never stop learning things on a daily basis 😃 I figured some sort of work visa would be the answer, but yep, small steps first, and obviously with a holiday. I definitely need to work out a list of places to visit. I'd love to make it a 3-week trip. That way, even when I do take a trip to Osaka, I see it can take up to 3.5hrs by train, so that would be a long day to fit in the day trip whilst also getting there and back, but then the next day could be more of a chill day. Not every day has to be full on. The countryside would also be fantastic to see. Pictures and video I've seen are absolutely breathtaking. Thanks, and yep, the fact we only live once, and I'm starting to feel my mortality, is making me want to actually shift my butt and do stuff 😁

@@hangswithchristian Cheers to that! I also consider Japan (more like Kyushu haha) as my second home. I moved here half a year ago from NYC. I’m not sure what part of Kumamoto you’ll be visiting but here are some rec’s if you’re visiting Kumamoto City. -Ajisen Ramen Flagship store (Kumamoto Ramen) -Suizenjikoen -からまるの唐揚げ 味噌天神店 (if you like Karaage) -五郎八 (A Izakaya that also serves Basashi, Kumamoto’s specialty horse meat) -Ezuko Lake -Houraku Manjuu (Kumamoto Kamitori Store) 蜂楽饅頭 熊本上通店 (can’t go wrong with Manjuu give both the red&white bean a try) -諸国家庭料理PAVAO -Coffee Gallery -Omoken Park オモケンパーク -Take a stroll around Kamitori and Shimotori when you’re in Machi -Kumamoto castle -Aso-Kuju National Park 阿蘇くじゅう国立公園 There are other spots I would recommend but I don’t want to make an overwhelming list 😂. @@DestinationJapan95 currently my intention is to do that, but finish my degree first. I want to go over there on the JET program and while working (so I can support myself) I was going to start a business. I have no particular business knowledge but I will brush up in my spare time.

I love Japan. They love their pets over there so anything in support of that is good. How about a mobile dog/cat groomer? Just baths and nail trims? We love mobile services here in Arizona. You can get mobile grooming and even Veterinary services and you can get a car wash or an oil change in the parking lot at your job. If you work many hours this frees up your weekend 😊 buy a 🚐! Good luck

Why I recommend Fukuoka: Fukuoka is my hometown (I live in Tokyo now),Compared to big cities such as Tokyo and Osaka, Fukuoka is a very compact city, and it has everything you need for a standard life, and the cost of living is low. In addition, the distance between the city and nature is close, for example, if you live in Tokyo, you will have 2~3 hours and distance to come into contact with nature, but if you live are very attractive, but at the same time, they are very busy and expensive, so if you want to live a leisurely life, you should choose Fukuoka. In other words, what I am trying to say is that big cities such as Tokyo and Osaka are very attractive, but at the same time, they are very busy and expensive, so if you want to live a leisurely life, you should choose Fukuoka.
@hangswithchristian
@hangswithchristian 2 месяца назад
Yeah that’s very well put! Both have their pro’s and cons like any city but in the end it all comes down to the individual and what matters most to them. I absolutely love Tokyo, it’s where I have spent most of my time and where most of my friends are. But for me personally, I love a city/beachside mix so Fukuoka fits the bill nicely. Appreciate the comment and insight! 👍🏼
