My name is Matthew Jaramillo. I'm a homeowner, gym owner, and personal trainer. I was a Division I athlete at NMSU. I've played football since I was 10 years old. I turned 30 years of age in June and wanted to take on the challenge of starting something NEW(poker vlog channel). I've been playing poker for over 10 years. So hopefully, you all can learn from my experiences the ups and downs (natty or not) of what the game of poker really looks like.
On the T982 board there’s just no way an over pair folds. You just get stationed off twice (river dependent) and also - if they do somehow fold the turn, somebody is getting shown so that they can be the hero that passed an over pair.
Is this all you do is play poker for a living? If so how much did you start out with. Do you run sims or study charts? How long have you been playing? Thanks
@rondalohair2307 Playing Poker is a fraction of what I do. I own my own gym and do personal training. That's my day job. I also act and model. As far as studying. I mostly just watch TV or online and process. I was a quarterback in high school and also played D1 football, so keeping composure (poker face) Reading the Defense Reading people and what's going on around me is something I've gotten good at. It's kind of a long story how long I've been playing but short version. My family always had house games, so I'd say as young as 8 I knew what beat what or remember how many cards were left in the deck,played for dimes. Used to watch the WSOP in 2003, so I was 10. Even played online sites like Pokerstars or True Poker, I think they were called. Again, I was 10 or 11, just small $2.20 tournaments, even taking a few down. I still remember 1st place was $108, and 2nd place was $72. So maybe a few hundred people tops. Poker/Gambling just always interested me. I have been going to local casinos since I was 17. I was always a bigger guy, so I never got carded. I haven't been to a local one for a year because they kicked me out for filming. Hopefully, that answers everything 💪
At the 8:30 mark you mentioned that the dealer made a mistake because action had changed. A button straddle is different than a blind call/raise. On a button straddle it ultimate last action. Meaning that not only will the button have last action post flop but has last action pre. So regardless of action when it goes around it passes the button then comes back. If they don’t want to call the raise they lose the 5$ they don’t get to pull it back like a blind raise/call.
@Moye-iw6ub No, at most locations, including this one if the action changes (some1 raises), then the BU acts in turn and isn't skipped. I'm sure at some places it skips regardless, but the places I've been to if action changes, it plays out like normal.
The crossed hands is a very reliable tell of weakness as most people do it subconsciously when they're nervous, same with face touching, from Mike Caro's book.

No way I’m folding those pocket Queens on the river shove. Your opponent sensed weakness on your part when you only called the turn bet, after raising the flop bet. I felt he was holding AJ with the A of diamonds. And The Royal? Check turn, but you gotta bet the river…say $125, to at least give him a chance to call, or blast off.
Preseason doesn’t have the pizazz like the real season, but it’s always fun to cheer on your team live at a pro stadium. We just traveled out of town recently to do just that also…my wife cheering on the home team, and my son and I for the better team (our favorite, and the winner of course). Red Rock looks pretty awesome 😎, and always nice to see you come out a winner too. What you need is a backup card cover. I watch Ben Deach too, and he’s a big Niners fan. I offered to send him a cool 49ers card cover, but he responded that he didn’t have a PO Box, or address he would want to reveal (very understandable). I wanted to offer you one too, but I sold the last Niner cover a few weeks ago, but when I restock, I’ll see if you’re interested (free of course). Come back to that in a few months. In the meantime, keep on plugging away.
It's not really an unspoken rule. It's etiquette is all especially if you play at the spot regularly. I always announce my last orbit so whatever happens just happens and no one thinks wrongly
4 year pro here. Never show your cards when making a big fold like yoy did with the nutflush, good players will expose you seeing that. And it also leads to the last hand wondering if hes shoving big cuz you made that big fold. But brutal last hand. If it wasnt rhe K diamonds you can fold some of the time. Tough session. You learned. You didnt lose
pocket 88 hand...this is a great example of how one mistake leads to another, and another one leads to a point of no return to lose huge. 1)That should be folded on flop. Downsizing c-bet speaks about a monster hand: luring you in. Either: AQ/KQ/KK/AA. Either hand beats pocket 88 to the point of no pot odds. 2) River is a clear fold. Any other hand except KQ would not shove river on that board (paired board plus 3 suited cards).
