Welcome to Sloth King Garage! This is my automotive channel. On this channel I'll be primarily focusing on making videos of building my MK3 Supra and making shorts. Occasionally I'll make other videos on my 4Runner or other cars I happen to be working on.
I know this is 2024 we back in the 80s used hot tap water drop your can in it whilst obviously connected to the manifold took less than a minute to empty just saying to top off ok your method is different we were servicing a empty system plus we worked flat rate
Hey man what’s up, I am finally putting all the plugs where they go and i am noticing that there actually a lot of plugs that dont connect anywhere 😂. So as I go it would be very helpful to see if you could elaborate on said cables. Very excited to see this car turn on, I am going to go by that video you posted turning your car on for the first time. As of right now there’s is only 3 plugs I have questions about. The first two are the same, they are 4 pin connectors one is in the driver side where the turbo boost pressure sensor is and the other one is in the passenger side where there is also another sensor (not sure what it is 😂) probably sum to do with turbo as well. I think I heard that they have sum thing to do with suspension or sum. But everyone I see has those two disconnected. And the third one And probably the one that’s been frustrating me the most right now is a plug where the fuse box is that I can’t find where it goes into. It has 4 cables going into it and I saw in your video when you first turned on you car when putting in your battery that you also had it disconnected and rolled up in tape like mine is. If you can help me out i would appreciate it. Thank you.
Glad this confirms the issue with DNJ pumps. The Supra groups on FB also say the same. Glad I haven't finished my build yet, I have DNJ pump on my shelf that I was going to use.
Having a misfire on cylinder 3 in my 2013 cx5... replaced coils and plugs and still misfiring. It's stressing me out! Only vehicle I have. It runs horrible in the mornings, but if I start it in the afternoons it runs a lot better ....not perfect but almost. Goes into limp mode in the morning. Don't know what to do. Cleaned the MAF sensor that already looked new.
Finished a 7M-GTE rebuild a couple months ago. After much deliberation, I threw the OEM pump back in the car, original 125k miles. So far, so good.... my idle oil PSI sucks but its within spec of the FSM. Unshimmed. I think its just part of 7M life. And yeah, delete that factory oil cooler sh^t and get a quality relocate kit and thermostat/cooler........ good luck getting this thing back on the road hopefully oil analysis comes back good and the damage was limited to that gear.
You need to read the specific pressure setting for your particular car and also add the freon based on the temperature outside. Its not as simple as this video shows.
Contact Aaron at Driftmotion for the oil pump situation. He bought all the remaining Aisin pumps, though he doesn't have anymore listed on his website. He may recommend the SKP. This wouldn't be caused by his pressure relief spring. This was probably caused by crappy tolerances of the DNJ pump. While you're at it, please do yourself a favor and pull rod caps and main bearings to inspect them. Now is not the time to leave that alone.
I did the same thing man, after it blew up the first time though. So, sorry to say it happened to me with out the stiffer spring and with the DM spring. They should be held liable. I pulled my 7m 2 additional times because of there crap pump. Let me not forget about how my machine shop covered both incidents. Try $5,200 each additional time plus the initial $5,200 I gave them for the rebuild. Yeah😢
Wow dude, that really sucks! I'm very surprised that it happened without the stiffer spring. From what I noticed after tearing into it, it seems like the internals of the DNJ pump are fine. It's just that weak brass gear they have. I know the OE pump has a brass gear, but Aisin clearly built theirs better. If only Aisin didn't discontinue the pumps
Plain and simple, DNJ oil pumps are garbage. This happened to me twice. I didn’t catch it either time so the 7m had to be pulled. 3x’s in less the 12 months I pulled that thing because the exact same issue.
Hey man what’s up, I was wondering cause I’ve been seeing it on the internet. Does the R154 have brackets holding it like something called wings or sum like that or are those just for the auto transmission or w58 etc. Cause I don’t have any brackets on my trans
Super helpful! Just changed mine out. Worked like a charm. (A bit of difficulty when the spring dropped out of the piece and I could not figure out how it went on but multiple viewings and pauses got me there). Again thanks!
@@rebeccacarlson7839 Usually you can place it on the mounting points on your subframe/cross member. Those should be reinforced pretty well. Check somewhere around your lower control arms. Just find a spot that won't pivot. You can also have a shop repair/reinforce the pinch welds. It'll be a little pricey, but is a good option if it's worth it to you.
@@christophertk I haven't replaced it. I've been told that it's just a mesh filter and technically doesn't need to be replaced (from what I've read/been told). But it's not hard to do if you decide to tackle it. You'll just need to take the pan off, it adds an extra 10 minutes or so to this job.
@@SlothKingGarage went to do a drain and fill and turns out mine has a dipstick, on the 2003 v8 it has a A340F transmission. any chance you know where i can find the procedure for this one? 😅
@@christophertk I haven't seen a writeup on one, but also never looked too far into it. I'd assume that you'd do the drain and fill like any other vehicle with a dipstick on the transmission. (Drain, fill up to specified level in owners manual, wait for it to warm up then check the level, and adjust accordingly)
I've having the same thing with my 2003. I thought dust shield and brakes. Bent back the shield and did rotors and pads and it's still there. Most prominent when turning right for me.
well thats pretty cool and a good idea if she breaks down at night or late afternoon.. ive been thinking of doing a similar thing to mine. before I do, those spots you put yours how it that working so far? any interference? thank you as always for making great vids and descriptive content.
Before diving super far into it, I would be suspicious of your sensor reading some level of residual pressure. The system should have zero pressure after being shut off for some time. It might be worthwhile to remove one of the pressure sensors and crank for only a moment or two just to see if any oil is moving at all. Cranking the engine with no oil pressure isn't going to do much harm really. The residual film on the bearings will be fine as long as you don't actually run the engine.
Once upon a time in a cozy little house nestled at the edge of a bustling town, there lived a dog named Toby. Toby was a lively and curious pup, always eager to explore and play. However, there was one thing Toby struggled with-falling asleep. Each night, as the sun dipped below the horizon and the stars emerged in the sky, Toby would find himself wide awake, his mind buzzing with excitement from the day's adventures. His human, Sarah, would gently stroke his fur and whisper soothing words, but Toby remained restless. One evening, Sarah decided to try something new. She dimmed the lights in the house, signaling to Toby that it was time to wind down. She sat beside him on his favorite rug, softly humming a lullaby that her grandmother used to sing. Toby cocked his head, intrigued by the unfamiliar melody. As Sarah continued to hum, Toby felt his eyelids grow heavy. The gentle rhythm of her voice seemed to lull him into a peaceful state. His breathing slowed, and he nestled closer to Sarah, finding comfort in her presence. Soon enough, Toby drifted off into a light slumber. The next night, Sarah repeated the routine. She dimmed the lights, hummed the lullaby, and stroked Toby's fur with a gentle touch. This time, Toby recognized the routine and began to relax more quickly. He closed his eyes, focusing on the melody and the warmth of Sarah beside him. It didn't take long before he was sound asleep, dreaming of chasing butterflies in a sunlit meadow. As the nights passed, Toby grew accustomed to the bedtime ritual. Sarah's soothing hum became a signal that it was time to let go of the day's excitement and embrace the tranquility of the night. Toby no longer tossed and turned-he knew that sleep would soon find him, just as it found Sarah each night. With each passing night, Toby's ability to settle down and sleep improved. He learned to savor the quiet moments before bed, relishing in the peacefulness that surrounded him. Sarah was proud of Toby's progress, knowing that their bedtime routine had brought them even closer together. And so, in that cozy little house at the edge of town, Toby found not only the joy of play and adventure but also the comfort of a restful sleep, guided by the gentle love of his human companion.
Hey do you leave the car engine running while you're doing it for the 45 minutes with the AC on...... Are you doing with the car engine off ? Also Can I get the length of part 2 ?
For those of you asking and commenting, I'll pin this. Buy cans without "self-sealer" and with zero added oil. Self sealer will gum up the system and having too much oil in the system will make it not operate properly. This method can temporarily fix your cooling issues. If you have to add refrigerant, you have a leak somewhere. So take it to a shop and have them fix the leak. They'll add UV dye to the system and locate the leak. Outside temperature does matter with how much refrigerant you'll need to add. Since I'm keeping this short, a quick Google search on "Automotive Refrigerant Pressure Charts" will have the info you need. If your gauge is in the yellow or red, there's an issue. This will at least tell you something is wrong and you'll need to take it to a professional to have it fixed properly. Since RU-vid took away the ability to link products in Shorts, I cannot add links that'll take you to the products I used. Thanks for watching and commenting, I'll catch you all on the next ride!
Another good reason to not buy any refrigerant that says self sealant is most mechanic shops won't be able to fix it, they'll force you to buy a whole new AC unit setup and that can be expensive. If you're not sure if you have a leak then buy refrigerant with uv dye, and use a uv light on the hoses to check for leaks. That won't cause any issues with a mechanic shop
Hey dude, this is a huge coincidence. My oil pump had died. Im a 100% sure yours did too. you have to drop the subframe, take the pump out and replace the pump with a geniune oil pump, doesnt matter if its used. get a genuine aisin, not a DNJ. The brass gear had sheared off. Its not a big deal and it doesnt take a lot off time.
Hey man, sorry again, but I recently looked at a video and saw there was some sort of bracket or stay bracket under the oil pan sort of subframe area under the car next to the oil drain plug and I’ve been looking in the internet and can’t seem to find it, could you maybe tell me the name of it or link I can’t really find anything on the interne. And I also realized I got an empty thing right next to the starter under the manifold I heard in a video it was something do to with “shock mount”, in my car there is nothing there. And for the two transmission plugs which you said one was for ABS and the other for reverse, do I have to loosen the transmission to take that top plug out cause I can’t reach out and I’m not sure where it even plugs into. Thank you. Sorry for the abundance of questions but I really want to turn this car on and it’s almost ready. Just missing these few details. Hasn’t turned on 17 years. Interested to see what’s gon happen with it . I have a short on my channel in reference to this. Thank you.
Are you using the factory oil pressure gauge? My factory gauge has been doing weird shit and dropping to zero. Thankfully, I have oil pressure safeties setup in my ecu so I doubt I actually have no pressure
