This was such an amazing thing to see…..not only the phenomenal courage, guts and determination on display, but the commentary was superb and the rocky music was timed in perfectly- truely amazing!!

Its not really courage if you agree to do it to yourself. Not saying this wasnt cool or hard work. It was. But, its not courage.

Brilliant run by Steve Jones. However, at 1:34, Commentator David Coleman didn't need to say "and the African is going to steal the win..." as if somehow he was going to cheat and do something underhand. It's racing damnit, best man wins the day and that day belonged to Steve Jones.

You keep saying stuff like "they told him he was terrible and that he would lose" Who is "they" and wheres the proof they were saying this stuff to his face? Also, "dedication/heart" is a better word that "courage" in this instance in my opinion

I think the characteristic on display here was determination really. It’s very rare you see somebody get passed out like that at that stage of a race and then surge back. When you’re running a digging deep there is often no pain like it with your body just screaming for you to stop.

A truly exceptional performance, physically and mentally. Being passed withing spitting distance could have been the finish for his race, instead we get treated to his final kick, the winning push he was told he didn't have. The music, however, was egregious, this sort of thing needs no such embellishment.

After the Chicago Marathon lost its sponsor in 1987 a half marathon was thrown together until the race directors figured out what was next. Steve Jones, a two time winner of the Chicago Marathon, including at that time setting the world record, came to Chicago on his own dime, with no winning prize money at stake to support the race. I ran that half marathon it was my first. I was proud to have run in the same field as the great Steve Jones.

The quick get up after the shock of falling I think put her into fight or flight mode and gave her a adrenaline burst she needed to get up go into immediate sprint mode to win this thing, when the other runners were gassed she had full adrenaline from the fall.
